Apocalypse Regression's
Not as Simple as It Seems

Three days later.

On a hot day, Brian wiped his sweat. Now he was in a location not so far away from the main headquarters of the Crux of Shadow. This place was actually very dangerous for him because if he got caught, he would definitely end up in a very bad way.

Although he was actually afraid, but Brian still gritted his teeth to come to this place. The reason why he did it was only to meet with the Sword of Sufferings. According to his guess, the group would sooner or later go towards the Crux of Shadow headquarters either to directly attack or to simply check. Therefore, Brian chose to wait in a place where he could see the arrival of the Sword of Sufferings.

“Do I need to rest first? According to the pattern, the Sword of Sufferings should make movements at night, right?”

Brian rubbed his eyes. Not only was his expression paler, but he also looked thinner and tired. He seemed to be having tough days during these three days. After all, for an ordinary human being to travel for three days, it was indeed not something that was easy to do.

The most ordinary zombies or first-rate mutated beasts were already a great threat to them. So surviving, let alone by yourself is not at all easy!

“Better wait a few more days. If the Sword of Sufferings had indeed not appeared, they should have left the city. Just came to warn Crux of Shadow not to make trouble in their territory.”

Brian mumbled slowly. Choosing a place that was rather clean but also somewhat hidden, he closed his eyes to rest his mind and body.

Her night.

Opening his eyes, Brian looked at a place so dark then heaved a sigh of relief. Although sleep is not a special thing, such behavior may invite danger. It could have been a beast or a zombie attacking them in their sleep. So he felt relieved and grateful that nothing bad had happened to him.

Brian then went to the window and took out a telescope to look at the area. Although it was quite dark, but he could still see with the help of starlight. At the moment when he was busy searching, he shook his head lightly. The man was not disappointed at all for not seeing what he wanted to see. But his expression suddenly changed as he was about to save his telescope back.

On top of the building across the street that was the same height as the building he was in, there were twelve robed people. One person stood on the edge of the building, and eleven people knelt behind him. As Brian tried to examine them more closely, he could only be disappointed that the visibility at night was too bad.

Just then, Brian was stunned for a moment. The figure standing on the edge of the roof of the building turned towards him. Yeah, right in the direction he's at. A pair of beautiful red eyes at once made the cold so glaring in the darkness gazed at him.

“It's a lie, right? At night, it is impossible for the human eye to see at this distance, right? I just can't see it clearly even using the telescope.”

Brian mumbled slowly. Realizing that the figure with ruby-like eyes was no longer looking at him, he felt relieved. Brian then saw the eleven people behind the man get up and leave.

At that very instant, the young man became a bit panicked. Using his telescope, he finally looked towards every floor of the building across the street. But after more than twenty minutes, he could see nothing at all.

“Is it possible for them to rest after a long journey? Was the feeling of being stared at earlier just my delusion?”

“What is delusion?”

Hearing that question, Brian's fur sat up straight away. He then turned his head while pulling a dagger at his waist. But as he twisted his body, the young man felt a strong hand strangle him then raised him high.

Resisting the pain, Brian looked at the black-robed figure and wore a mask that strangled him. Despite his fear, he also felt quite excited as he finally met the group of Sword of Sufferings that came like a storm and disappeared quietly like a gust of wind.

“From your appearance, you should not be a member of Crux of Shadow, right?”

Hearing that question, Brian wanted to answer. But being strangled, he could only shake his head. Gesticulating that he had absolutely nothing to do with the Crux of Shadow.

The cloaked figure instantly knocked himself down. The fallen Brian thought nothing of the pain at all, but was more busy breathing the air voraciously. After a while, he became calmer. The young man then looked forward where the black-robed figure with a spear on his shoulder looked at him calmly.

Hearing that, Brian was more surprised. At that very instant, various questions popped into his mind.

‘Level one? Is that the level of power according to them? That means Crux of Shadow also has that kind of thing?’

Recalling the various resentments in his heart, Brian immediately knelt down in front of the black-robed figure.

“Please allow me to enter into the Sword of Sufferings, Master!”

“Hah?!”

The black-robed figure looked surprised. After a while, a killing intent emerged from him. Then, a cold voice came from his mouth.

“Do you think ... Sword of Sufferings is a group that will take rats and wild cats for granted?”

“En?”

Brian's surprised. When he looked up, he immediately sweated profusely upon seeing the tip of the spear pointed at his neck. His heart was pounding, he felt very nervous. But while recalling the death of his family members, Brian shouted with red eyes and full of determination.

“I WANT REVENGE ON CRUX OF SHADOW!”

Meanwhile, on the roof of the building across the street.

Ark stood on the edge of the building while looking at the surrounding area. The young man had a serious expression behind his mask.

‘There is something wrong with this area. More precisely, the area around the main headquarters of Crux of Shadow.’

Ark's eyes narrowed. At the time of watching the surroundings, he had not seen any other creatures, not even zombies or mutated mice that were so common in other areas. Other than that ...

‘This place is too quiet.’

Ark looked towards the distance. What is happening now is not normal at all. Even around the Sword of Sufferings main headquarters that were frequently cleaned up, there would definitely be some random creatures appearing. While in this place, there are no traces of fighting or traces of cleaning done periodically.

As if ... indeed there has never been a big battle in the area around this place.

Looking towards the old cathedral a few kilometers away which was decorated with several torches and looked striking from a distance, Ark's eyes narrowed.

‘These people ... are not as simple as it looks.’
