Lail and Redia set out together in a horse-drawn carriage to Lueith's house, during Lail's journey just silent while Redia glanced at Lail's cynicism as it turned out that Lail was not dressed as well as before.
Lail chose a bright semi-formal Victorian outfit to balance the party atmosphere, over her lap a wide-brimmed hat completes Lail's graceful, charming look.
"Tunify your facial expressions when we get to the party, Redia." Lail finally returned Redia's cynical gaze. "It would be bad if you did it in a crowded place" continued Lail.
Redia laughed short and then clasped her hands on her chest while staring out the window, they would soon arrive. "Don't worry about me because bad things won't happen to me when we're there, better think of yourself, Brother."
After saying so Redia was silent and before long the horse carriage entered Lueith's field yard and there several luxurious horse carriages had lined up neatly while at the entrance were seen some noble ladies greeted by guards. Realizing Lail's horse carriage was coming, the noble ladies flocked to stare out through the large window that became part of the wall.
Lail got down so gracefully from the horse then walked in to see what kind of party the noblewomen held in this age.
"Gee."
Lail was amazed to see the simple decoration in the magnificent space in the Lueith residence, the touch of the decoration was not so crowded because the Lueith residence alone already looked luxurious. No wonder the Lueith family looked more prosperous because they had a vineyard and set up a champagne making factory, Lueith must be so rich.
"Welcome, Lady Lail."
Lail turned her attention to the party decorations towards a beautiful brunette with big black eyes that made her look cute. Wh who? Lail.
Noticing the confusion on Lail's face, the woman immediately introduced herself. "I'm Tirsia Lueith."
"Aah!" Lail immediately returned Tirsia's low bow and smiled making some women stunned, questioning whether it was the same Lail.
Usually Lail would not return the respect given to her, but this was accompanied by a friendly smile she did not even hesitate to pay respect to Tirsia.
Tirsia smiled and then brought Lail to fill a chair in one of the rooms where there was a round table surrounded by four chairs.
"At the end of the party will begin, please wait for me here," Tirsia said then joined another group of nobles.
Lail did not say much and just kept quiet while enjoying the music that began to be played in the meantime from above without his knowledge, he said, the older brother of the Tyrant observed him long enough behind a sturdy pillar on the top floor then disappeared from there.
"Happy to meet Lady Lail."
Lail raised next to an eyebrow to see Aiksa suddenly say hello when yesterday was angry at his residence.
"Yes, nice to meet you too."
Now all attention fell on Lail and Aikasi and before long some noble ladies who yesterday attended the tea party in Gaia's residence stood by Aiksa's side and looked at Lail as judgmental.
"There's no need to say hello to a haughty person like, come on, get out of there."
Aikkan was pulled by his friend from before Lail while Lail was able to exhale a sigh of relief. His entire attention centered on him made Lail realize that not everyone accepted his existence here. Well, how else because it has been invited, there is no way Lail refused because the reputation there will be more tarnished.
"You're reborn, yeah."
Lail was a little surprised to see one more woman appear and fill the chair beside her not until there even the woman reached out to Lail. "Gaia wantes, daughter of Earl Borneta."
Lail returned Gaia's hand. "Lail Manuella."
"You seem to realize they don't like you." Gaia ended the handshake and chatted so casually.
"Yes, that's it. I'm not too surprised because I was so annoying before."
Gaia held back a laugh then looked at Lail full of interest. "Dad told me about you. Said you were helping the Jaikites not to fail the harvest by building an irrigation line."
Gaia's words were a little hard to steal the attention of Tirsia so joined in the seat near Gaia, now Lail is in the middle of both.
Lail hesitated to tell a story but, Tirsia kept urging him until finally these three women continued to talk without caring about the surroundings and this made Redia emotional. Lail's humiliation plan should be done now, but Tirsia looks happy to be with Lail, if she does it now it is likely that there will be hostility.
"Can I join?" Redia approached and filled the empty seats.
Gaia and Tirsia looked at each other.
"What okay? Don't you know that Redia keeps talking bad things about you and supports Wanner's affair with Aiksa?" It felt like Gaia and Tirsia wanted to say that to Lail.
Gaia and Tirsia had been best friends since childhood and they did not care much about bad rumors let alone bash when someone spoke ill of Lail. Well, even though they had once berated Lail's bad attitude which often violated the etiquette of nobility.
"A-h, big sister is exaggerating," replied Redia nervously, while her heart was cursing.
...***...
The party was over in the afternoon, some guests had returned and some were waiting for an invitation. Not long after Lail came out of the house with Tirsia and Gaia, Wanner's horse carriage entered the courtyard and approached Aijka who blushed in embarrassment and was teased by some of her friends.
"Come, come back, Aikan." Wanner approached Aiksa and reached out, but the tail of his eyes found Lail until the helping hand came down with Aikasi who was about to receive his help.
"Lail ..." said Wanner.
"Yes, you are so romantic that you invited Lady Aikkan here."
"You're right. Isn't the more your days are so mismatched, you should get engaged soon."
The apron from Aiksa's friend made Wanner so aware that it threw an awkward smile while Lail looked unconcerned as the women glanced at her sarcasm.
"Tsk! Exaggerated by them" commented Gaia.
Tirsia was no less upset to see him then glanced at her brother who suddenly came out and approached Lail, making a furore happen because Tirsia's brother who was quite loved by the women was greeting Lail.
"What's your brother doing here?" Tirsia approached her brother, Jay Lueith.
Jay ignored Tirsia's words and chose to grab the back of Lail's hand while dipping it at a glance. "May I take Lady home?"
"Well?!" Tirsia and Gaia were flabbergasted.
Lail blinked twice as the situation suddenly changed. "Sorry, but I'm going home with my sister." Lail glanced at the horse carriage in which Redia was already inside.
Jay looks lethargic, but the sudden powerful jolt to his hand takes Jay by surprise. Jay's grip on Lail's hand was released because of Wanner's actions.
Now Wanner stood in front of Lail and stared at Jay fiercely. "Stay away from Lail!" yells.
Everyone was shocked to see Wanner's actions while Jay immediately laughed short. "Ah, sorry." Jay stopped his laughter and said, "But why did the Marquess suddenly interfere? As far as I know the Marquess is not Lady Lail's fiancee anymore."
Wanner's face furrowed, his eyebrows swooping sharply due to the difficulty of evading.
"Then, Lail still loves me. He won't accept your offer!" Wanner then faced Lail and looked at her wistfully. "I can take you home, but don't take another man to drive you."
Lail's eyes squinted at Aikasi who was not far in front of him, right behind Jay. Aiksa's eyes were already glazed over and her lips were pursed like cones.
"Don't joke. If I still love you, our engagement won't end." Lail then removes Wanner from his presence and approaches Jay. "I'll ask for Redia's understanding first, so I'm sorry if it's a little inconvenient to drive me home."
Jay flashed a triumphant smile and raised a pair of eyebrows to insinuate Wanner. "No, no, it was me who apologized for suddenly approaching Lady."
Afterwards Lail tells Redia that he will be back with Jay and now Jay helps Lail enter the horse carriage and get back together but, before that Jay says goodbye to Tirsia and Gaia.
"Why did your brother do that?" Gaia asked.
"Of course." Tirsia raises her shoulders.
Wanner was silent with his head bowed while Auksa jerked his feet while entering the horse carriage, waiting for Wanner to enter immediately and drive him home.
"Damn it! Goddamnit! Goddamnit!" Aikasi bit his finger nail into the attitude of Wanner and Lail's luck. Now, Aikasi can't even see the pity of the women's gazes at him out there.
