12| Poisoning

...HAPPY READING...

The children were lying in bed and unconscious. Each of their forehead has a cloth to reduce high fever.

Maina and the other caretakers were busy taking care of the children after Lail said that the children were food poisoning so they vomited and had a high fever.

Maina's eyes glowed in search of Lail's whereabouts because when the incident happened, Lail was so panicked that she handled the children with trembling bodies full of fear and worry.

However, now Lail was outside the back door of the home as if waiting for someone and soon the door opened, revealing a young woman carrying a cloth bag on her shoulder. She is Oktal, a young girl who introduces herself as a new caretaker surrogate in the orphanage. Since the beginning Lail had suspected his movements especially when the incident occurred, Oktal actually rushed away.

Oktal was surprised to see Lail there and was about to run but, Lail suddenly stopped him, ending with her prone body being overstressed by Lail who was tying her hands behind her back.

Lail had provided a thick rope before standing guard there, after tying hands, Lail then tied both legs Octal then dragged him in a quieter place so that the conversation was unknown.

"Tell me, don't make me ask twice or the kid in this photo will accept the consequences of what you're doing." Lail showed a photo coming out of the cloth bag that had come off the woman's sling.

Oktal erbelalak and rebelled about to take a photo of him with his sister but Lail immediately put it in his pocket.

"Quick say!" The glint in Lail's eyes made Octal shudder in horror, the sweat on his body appearing unbroken until the skin felt sticky.

"Miss Redia told me to do it. He gave me the poison to poison the children in order for you to get in trouble" he said.

Lail's eyes moved, glancing at the bottle of poison rolling from the mouth of the bag and then grabbed the poison while gripping Octal's chin.

"I'm gonna poke you in this."

The woman started crying while shaking her head. "Don't, my sister still needs me! Please!"

Lail laughed discordantly and slapped Octal. "When you have a sister, but why would you do it!" snapped Lail.

Octal turned his gaze, becoming more and more sad. "I need money to heal my sick sister."

Lail tightened her jaw then pulled Octal's face to get closer to her. "From now on, listen to me if your sister's life won't be ruined."

Octal trembled in fear even so giving a nod to Lail. "S-I'll listen to Miss."

"Then do this for me" said Lail, giving Oktal a new order.

Afterwards, Lail lets Oktal escape while she walks into the parlor and meets Maina.

"I'm going to Raitle, call the nurse to get the kids well soon."

Panti Amare is in the suburbs of Raitle so that no doctor can be asked for help in a short time plus they lack medicine. Lail was only able to give first aid to children.

"I'll come along." Maina volunteered and Lail couldn't turn her down so tonight they went straight to the city in a horse-drawn carriage.

Lail immediately went to the doctor and asked for help to be given some nurses to take care of the children after which Lail returned with two horse carriages filled by doctors and nurses.

Doctors and nurses began to be busy taking care of the children as well as Lail who was always near the doctor.

At 02:00 in the morning.

Lail rubbed a rough face and sat on a chair outside the room that is now a children's ward.

Maina persuades however, Lail reluctantly does so. To be honest, he felt guilty about this because Redia was targeting him.

"I'll be on my guard, Auntie. Please don't persuade me anymore" Lail said.

Maina could not say anything more so let Lail in there while all the other people started to rest.

...The Duke Of Raitle Mansion...

The next day, precisely at noon at the residence of Redia.

"Gtt ... Ahhhhhhh!"

Redia laughed long after hearing the words of Oktal, one of the servants assigned to disguise as a caretaker at Amare House.

"So, he was so scared and almost fainted because the children were poisoned? Haha .... He must be very down at the moment, what a pity brother ..." Redia was still grinning with a happy smile imprinted on her face.

While Octal's eyes focused only on the kettle at the table, shortly Redia left the chair and turned her back to Octal.

"If I could see my brother's expression at that moment. Haah, what a pity, yes, I didn't see it, Octal." Redia turned the body facing Octal while Octal directly lowered and retreated two steps in the previous position.

"Y-yes, Miss. Your brother was even overwhelmed when trying to help the children. I think he would blame himself for failing to save those kids."

Redia laughed again and clapped her hands. "You're right and I can't wait for his return!" Redia sat back in her chair and started pouring tea from the kettle on the porcelain cup.

"Good job, Octal. As I promised, take this money for you." Redia then pelted Octal a stack of money in a brown envelope.

Octal bowed many times then permission to retreat. After exiting, Octal immediately rushed out of the mansion. He will no longer work here and will go as far away from Raitle as possible, not of his will but of Lail's threat. Even the words he spoke to Redia were orders from Lail, but that was not Lail's main plan but rather to let Redia fall for her own poison.

"Aragh!"

Redia rested on the floor while touching her throat after gulping down a cup of tea. Redia's eyes stared at the door lips, where Octal had just left.

"D-damn it!"

When Redia turned back, Octal put poison in the kettle containing Redia tea, so Octal had to flee faster so as not to be caught.

...***...

"Lady, there's a letter for you."

A caretaker gave Lail a letter. Lail came out of the ward to her room. Now, the condition of the children is much better, it's good that the poison is not deadly.

[Right now the mansion is noisy. Miss Redia was poisoned by someone! Now the Duke and Duchess are interrogating all the residents of the mansion. For the time being, Miss Redia continued to complain. Hurry back and be careful always, Miss.]

"Why not just die?" Lail looked disappointed to learn of Redia's plight.

No, this is just the beginning. From now on Lail plans to retaliate twice as badly as what Redia would do to him.
