30| Apologies

...HAPPY READING...

"What happened in Raitle? My mom and dad got minor injuries, did that have anything to do with you last night?" ask Lail.

Silent still freezing Gaiden's mouth, Lail grew grim and scolded. "Alright, don't tell me anything. Let me find out for myself and if it turns out you have something to do, I won't stay silent, Gaid—"

"Sorry!" Gaiden bowed deeply after making a loud noise.

Lail was silent, waiting for the movement of her husband's full lips that were somewhat trembling.

"Estia told her personal knights to kill your family" he said.

Lail's heart was racing faster. Crazy one! The 20-year-old girl thought of such a horrible thing just out of jealousy?

"Then, how do you solve it? You went to the palace to take care of Estia's actions, right?" The glint in Lail's eyes became clearer, her breathing becoming heavy as emotions burst out within her.

Again, Gaiden's mouth froze and his gaze was indeterminate. Lail grew furious at how Gaiden was currently behaving.

"What did Estia get as her punishment?" ask Lail again.

"I scold him and the punishment will be given by the King, besides, he wants to fix everything."

"So you gave him a chance?"

Gaiden nodded, not twitching while Lail turned her back to Gaiden, standing in front of the door that was still closed.

"My family who suffered a lot of losses and then you not only hid it, but casually solved the problem without my concern?" Lail sounded disappointed and Gaiden just lowered his head.

"Don't come in!" hardik Lail then entered the room, closing the door hard enough to deafen the ears.

"Lail .." said Gaiden.

...***...

Early in the morning, Lail had been neatly dressed in a simple red dress while her hair was neatly bunned and somewhat sagging, leaving a few children with hair near the ears, after which it came out of the room, found Gaiden standing and awake since last night there.

Lail pityed, but his anger and disappointment were not easily quenched.

"Blogs ... Please listen to me first" asked Gaiden and blocked Lail's arm, her expression shrinking like a pitiful puppy.

Lail was reluctant to make a sound, preferring to look at Gaiden coldly and before long Sebas disturbed the tension.

"Sorry, Grand Duke and Duchess." Sebas bent.

"What's up, Sebas?"

"You have Princess Estia, Duchess."

Lail looked at Gaiden, jerked the big hand from his arm then walked past Sebas.

"Where is he now?"

"She's the living room, Duchess."

Lail nodded and immediately went there. Beautiful luxurious dresses, too many colors and sparkling jewelry, making Lail's eyes piqued plus the nose and reddened eyes of Estia actually makes Lail caught off guard.

"Welcome, Princess Estia. What made you come so early?" Lail asked, they did not sit but stood face to face.

Estia showed a look of regret and tears unraveled. "Sorry, Auntie. I was wrong, I regret doing such a bad thing to you. I promise I won't do it again. I ... I ... Really sorry."

Lail was silent, staring at Estia for longer while Gaiden was new until after catching up with Lail, fearing bad things happened especially the actions of Estia who came in this morning. Gaiden exhaled, he thought Estia would do something bad and said an apology.

"Aibi .. "weep Estia accompanied by a faltering cry.

Lail smiled, approaching Estia while raising her hands to gently caress Estia's beautiful hair.

"Will aunt forgive me?" estia asked as she looked up, looking at the face of Lail who was taller than her.

Plaque!

Sebas and Gaiden gawk at Lail's rapidly changing hand movements, from petting to turning into a hard slap on Estia's left cheek.

Estia's eyes squinted in disbelief, her gaze hidden by her hair coming sideways after being slapped. Lail saw Estia's expression of regret extinguished in an instant, rightly her guess that Estia still had not realized her mistake and was just pretending to beg for forgiveness.

"Geez, it hurts, huh?" Lail asked as she cupped Estia's face which turned red.

Estia tightened her jaw until the gurgling from her teeth sounded clear. Lail was convinced that this girl was cursing.

"Ah, it doesn't seem like it's felt yet, does it?" Lail grinned and slapped back on Estia's right cheek.

Gaiden slid and immediately held Lail's hand which was about to slap a third when Estia was staggered and was helped to stand by Sebas.

"Stop, Lail!" snapped Gaiden.

Lail's chest rose up and down her emotional cusp plus Gaiden tried to stop her.

"Stop, he's already apologized," Gaiden pressed again.

Plaque!

Gaiden was stunned, a slap Lail had on her left cheek that didn't even hurt at all.

"He intends to kill my parents, how can I make it easy for him? Two slaps is enough for you to punish him? Is it because he's your nephew or because he's sick?" tanya Lail who suddenly made Gaiden glare sharply.

"Brake! Your words crossed the line!" hardik Gaiden's.

"I knew he was wrong, but he tried to improve himself and came all the way to apologize to you. There is no harm in giving a chance to someone who is trying to get better. Besides, mom and dad are fine." Gaiden tried to explain.

There was no rebuttal in response but Lail's hurtful and disappointed gaze managed to leave Gaiden stunned.

"Auntie, don't fight with uncle. Uncle is not wrong whatsoever, this is all sal—"

"Far from there, Sebas. Take me forward" Lail told Sebas and left, ignoring Gaiden and Estia.

Gaiden glanced at Estia then glanced at the exit. "Go back there. Don't go back to my castle."

"Uncle ... "

Gaiden grunting. "You've had enough of me fighting with my wife. Better correct your attitude, besides that I stress you again ... If you do something bad to my wife again, this uncle of yours will be the worst person ever to be in your life."

Estia flinched, her pupils slightly shaking at Gaiden's words added as Gaiden again pointed his way out of the castle. Though, as thick as he was, Gaiden did not throw him out.

"Just because of that woman?!"

...***...

"Good morning, Lail."

Lail had arrived at the perfume-making place and in front of the entrance was Jay holding a bouquet of fresh roses and then given to Lail.

"Congratulations on the new venture you're on."

Lail receives flowers while smiling and invites Jay in to enjoy a cup of tea at her office.

"I heard from Trisia that orders surged after perfume products were introduced among the nobility. You're so great!" puji Jay's.

Lail nodded his head. "Thank you."

"Sorry, Lail. But what happened to your hand?" jay asked while glancing at Lail's right palm which was so red, ever since meeting Jay was curious.

Lail smiled bitterly. The heat and pain were still there, but Lail let it go.

"Of course." Lail is reluctant to say why and Jay understands that.

Jay only came to say hello because it had not been together for a long time, but Jay still put his feelings on Lail and hope that one day Lail does not match Gaiden, but he does not, maybe he's the first guy who's gonna come to Lail.

"Lail?"

Jay gasped at the heavy noise behind, finding Gaiden standing on the lip of the door with a hunting breath.
