"I want to end my engagement to the Marquess Arche, as soon as possible."
Lail's request succeeded in making the quill pen within Anom's grasp come off, the ink from the pointed tip on the pen soiling the sheet below. Anom regained his senses, hurriedly separated the pen from the paper, placed it on the container necessarily then looked at Lail full of doubt.
"Try to repeat your request." Anom straightened his body, trying to hear more carefully.
"I want to end my reign with the Marquess Arche, as soon as possible."
Anom frowned a little in wonder. Though the engagement was established because Lail was so interested in Wanner that Anom had a meeting with the Wanner family to discuss the issue of matchmaking the two. If this is the end, Anom will have difficulty facing the Wanner family.
Knowing what Anom was thinking just from a hard frown on the face, Lail took a step forward and exposed some facts, regarding Wanner having an affair with Aeka and blatantly Wanner once asked her to end the engagement.
Hearing Lail's words, Anom's jaw hardened and his face looked sharp, angry. Knowing that Lail is being cheated on makes Anom furious and wants to protest Wanner and his family, but Lail prevents him and says it's not Wanner's fault because his rude attitude might make Wanner do this. Instead of relieving Anom's emotions, Lail's words actually made Anom grow furious. Although it looks so ignorant to Lail, actually Anom secretly continues to pay attention to all Lail's behavior.
"I'll take care of Wanner in my own way so please, Duke please take care of my request just now" Lail said.
Once again, Lail called him duke. Anom grimaced a little then looked at Lail clingy. "Why suddenly call me Duke?" Anom asked.
Lail is a bit awkward, of course the first reason is because Anom is not the original father of the past, Anom is so indifferent to the previous Lail so Lail is confused about how to behave.
"Don't call me that. Do as usual." Anom protested.
Lail simply nodded then permission to retreat while Anom rushed to grab the robe, draped it on his broad shoulders and immediately came out before long Lail was gone.
...***...
Just enjoying the twilight afternoon polished twinkle of infinity full of relief, Lail precisely had to face the arrival of Wanner when evening had arrived.
Right in the living room, Naika had asked Wanner to wait for Lail who had just changed into a dress. Before long, Lail came with the tailed Daval.
The first sight Lail got was Wanner's brown eyes that were shaking with emotion. Lail doesn't know why Wanner suddenly came here, or perhaps already knows that their engagement is over? But Wanner should be happy instead of looking full of emotions like this.
"There's ap—"
Lail's words came to a halt as Wanner stood upright with both hands clenched at the sides of the body. Wanner's eyebrows swooped firmly and then spoke out loudly making Lail a little grunt rough because her ears were slightly piqued.
"What have you done to Aikasi?!"
"Heah .... " Lail took a deep breath and sat upright on the sofa while giving Naika the code to fill up the empty Wanner cup.
"none. We're just having a conversation." Lail replied as she sipped her drink.
Wanner furiously stepped quickly towards Lail and grabbed onto Lai's shoulder, forcing Lail to stand face to face. Daval had drawn the sword, about to be cast on Wanner's neck for protection.
Lail raised her hand to stop Daval's actions then returned Wanner's fierce gaze to her.
"Torture said you threatened him and even booed him! Why can't you let Aikasi live a quiet life?!" snapped Wanner.
Naika was flabbergasted as well as Daval because Lail had never done that to Aiksa during the conversation this morning.
Lail laughs discordantly, who would have thought that Aijakan was more rotten than the novel he read.
"If I tell you the truth you won't believe it, so take it." Lail brushed off the two hands of Wanner who were clutching her shoulders.
Plaque!
One slap from Lail on Wanner's left cheek caused quite a loud noise in the living room. Along with the pain on his cheek, Wanner felt his breath as though it was blocked, this was the first time Lail gave a slap.
"You're wrong. I'm better and worthy than your woman. I have to tell you that I don't love you anymore. I've made the decision to end our engagement, as you wish before. So, never misunderstand my feelings for you" Lail said.
Lail held back tears. When saying that, Lail's voice was a bit vibrating because considering how Lail's previous struggle to get the attention of Wanner was also how when he knew that Wanner loved Aikan more. While Wanner feels a sense of ingratitude slipping in her heart hearing that Lail doesn't love her anymore, then breaks off the engagement? Wanner thought it was just nonsense because he had not heard any information regarding his engagement.
"My father just got back from your residence after talking about our engagement. So, from now on we don't have any relationship!"
Lail then returned to the room without caring for the flustered Wanner, staring at Lail's back, disappearing from his sight.
"Please return, Marquess," Naika said on the door's lips, opening the door as wide as possible to get Wanner to leave.
While Lail was crying silently in the room, just turning on the nightstand's sleeping lights. If Lail wasn't so blinded by love, maybe the end of her life wasn't sad. Fighting for a man who does not love us will not get a good ending unless he gets continuous injuries to forget how it feels to heal and not feel pain.
"I've done it. Now, I can deal with other problems." Lail encouraged herself amidst the noiseless thrashing.
Gradually Lail fell asleep with a trace of tears again decorate her charming face. Daval entered, looked at Lail's face so closely and then confirmed Lail's lying position while putting a thick blanket of hair up to half Lail's body.
"What about Miss?" ask Naika.
Daval exhaled. "It's sleep."
...***...
In the morning, at nine in the morning after finishing breakfast, Lail struggled with some history books in the library where every large wooden shelf was crowded with various kinds of books.
Lail sat on a wooden chair with a round table filled with cookies and a cup of tea.
Naika smiled, Lail completely changed. Though Lail is weak in the field of the academy, but this time Lail is not bored at all after finishing one book thick enough.
"Good morning, Brother!"
Lail's consistency was shattered when a brunette girl walked into her room with a bright smile. Lail knew what it was, her name was Redia Bavie, Lail's sister from a different mother. In the past life, Redia instigated Lail to be provoked with emotion at useless things, then secretly supported Wanner's affair with Aiksa, it did not stop there even Redia made Lail ugly in the eyes of the nobles just to get rid of Lail as the successor of Anom.
"Morning back," Lail casually replied and refocused on reading.
Next to Redia's eyebrows raised saw Lail's calm response. "Sister looks fine. Though I heard that the relationship between brother and Marquess is over."
"Hm, I just feel a lot better after our relationship ends." Lail closed the book then looked at Redia seriously. "Did you come to see me just to say that?"
Redia's drunkenness, Lail's slight attitude makes her stutter. "T-no. I just came to say hello because I haven't talked to my sister for a long time."
"Then come and sit with me," Lail asked as she glanced at the empty seat nearby.
Redia nodded then sat face to face with Lail. Silent. Lail did not start the conversation, but waited for Redia to make a sound.
"It's true that brother looks like a different person" Redia's inner.
