The Duke Daughter Life
10| Removes Bad Rumors

...HAPPY READING...

Today is the last time Lail is in Gazea, tomorrow Lail will be back in Raitle soon.

There's one thing you should know, since a few days ago, Gaiden kept appearing in front of Lail. Lail thought that when they were in one passage, it was their last meeting, that was, but suddenly Gaiden booked a room at the condotel satnight on the grounds of not being able to return home because there was a problem so frustrating Lail because every time he came out of the condotel, there was a time when they passed each other and with his mischievous behavior, Gaiden continued to put Lail in trouble.

Before morning came, Lail had packed her things and returned before dawn. Lail had entered the horse carriage, stared at the condotel for a moment and left. Whereas since then, Gaiden has been watching him and silent and then shortly chuckled when Lail's horse carriage drove.

"Heah ... " Gaiden covered his face and smiled witfully. "Why is he overreacting?"

"Isn't it upside down, Grand Duke?"

Gaiden flinched as Simon appeared behind with a black pouch under his eyes. To be honest, Simon became upset because of Gaiden's behavior, he had to lose Naika.

"You surprised me" said Gaiden.

"Sorry, Grand Duke."

...The Duke Of Raitle Mansion...

It's only been a day since I got back from Gazea and Lail that I had bad news. Again. Bad rumors about it circulating this time are much worse and of course Lail knows who this is, Redia.

Tirsia was the most informed collector while Gaia was a slaughterer among noble women and so Lail began to have good relations with both and today Tirsia, it is the one who tells the rumors that are milling about it.

Lail went to the Gazea to tease the Grand Duke for feeling like he failed to have Wanner, not only that even Lail planned to get re-engaged with Wanner if he failed to get the Grand Duke's attention, such was the current rumor.

No outsider would know that Lail to Gazea except the occupants of the mansion and information like this could only enter the social sphere of the noble lady if the informant had any connections there and Redia had everything is.

Lail squeezed out a letter from Tirsia then stared flatly at the reflection of her face on the mirror. "Naika," call Lail.

"Yes, Miss?" Naika looks worried to find Lail's angry look.

"I'll have a tea party at our residence. Spread the invitations to the eight noble ladies who have a high reputation and influence in the social sphere."

Naika swallowed the nervous saliva then nodded steadily. "Yes, Miss."

...***...

Of the eight noble ladies attending Lail's tea party today two of them were Tirsia and Gaia. Before the war, Lail needed to prepare one weapon and one protector and therefore, Tirsia and Gaia were invited.

"Who would have thought we would be invited here" one of the noble ladies said.

Lail smiled, grabbed one scone, ate it and grabbed a cup of non-caffeinated black tea, sipped twice before putting it back on the coasters.

Tea parties are held in small buildings that are located separate from the main house. The walls of this small building are dominated by high glass domed cones that show the atmosphere of the garden outside.

"I never had a tea party like this before. For the first time I wanted to feel how the tea party was held personally by me and it turned out that the invitation I thought would not be accepted actually brought happiness to me today," said Lail while putting on a haru expression, her eyes glazed with a soft red hue on her cheeks.

The married noblewomen were anxious and delighted to see Lail apparently yearning for their presence and happy just because of this.

"We didn't think to turn it down seeing how the invitation was prepared so beautifully."

Lail raised his head to look at his guest. Well, Lail prepared an invitation that everyone never thought of. Lail pinned a bouquet of flowers on the letter and then spray perfume on the letter plus in the writing made as neat and beautiful as possible, as possible, anyone will be stunned by the letter plus Lail is sure that they will not refuse because they need new gossip by prying about it related to the rumors.

"Thank you." Lail blushed.

One of the noble ladies glanced at Lail rather cynically then said, "I heard Lady go to Gazea. Is it true that the Lady met the Grand Duke?"

"Here you?!"

Lail smiled, her body becoming more firm and remaining calm to respond to the woman's question. "Where did you hear that?"

The woman tightened her mouth, looking nervous about not being able to answer Lail's question while Lail chuckled to get rid of the tense atmosphere just now.

All the guests were silent, right too. Not many people knew what Grand Duke Valazad looked like, but certainly his aura as a Grand Duke was incapable of being hidden.

"Did you go see the harbor there?" Tirsia became enthusiastic because honestly he always wanted to go there, but Jay always forbade him on the grounds that he would be exhausted on the trip.

Lail nodded steadily. "Yes! The city of Gazea is surrounded by the beautiful Caebra Sea plus a lot of other unique and fascinating places."

Lail reviewed the thin smile seeing the response of the guests who were now enthusiastic to hear the story even the cynical gaze at the beginning of the meeting just disappeared.

"I want to go there with my husband and children" said the oldest guest.

Lail nodded. "That's a good choice. But don't be alone, there's a handsome guide who likes to tease women," said Lail interspersed with jokes so that a gentle tickle filled the room.

While on the other hand, Redia was angry that Lail was running a tea party without inviting and telling her!

"Damn it! Actually why is everything so fucked up like this! He should not have changed and remained a stupid big brother!" Redia roared while slamming things on the nightstand.

...***...

The night has turned up and Lail has just finished dinner. The tea party went very well as some of them had had a good look at him and naturally the rumors would end slowly thanks to that story.

"Eh?"

Lail who was about to go to the room to undo the intention of seeing Anom's horse carriage just entering the courtyard of the mansion was greeted by Rebelia.

Anom looks exhausted when welcoming Rebelia hug, the couple got along quite well apparently. Lail did not think to destroy her father's relationship with her mother because since the beginning Rebelia did not bother him even in his old life in the novel that Lail read, Rebelia had defended Lail to be insulted from death, but unfortunately Lail's unwilling attitude to pity made Rebelia withdraw.

Anom enters with Rebelia, but Anom tells Rebelia to go to the room first while she goes to work while sitting on a chair with a rough face rubbed.

"Dad ... "

Anom opened his eyes, sat up straight and looked at the door.

"Come in."

Lail came in and approached Anom. "Looks like dad's not okay. Did something happen?"

Anom gasped but a second later gave a smile. Lail's worried gaze reminded him of the late Yasryl, his first wife.

"Nothing."

Lail exhaled. At first Lail was willing to stay away from Anom, but suddenly as time went on, Lail changed her gaze. He did not want to regret the same thing as his previous life that was not close to his father.

"Say, Father. Maybe I can help."

Anom noticed the seriousness in Lail's eyes and finally replied, "Last month there was an indigo cake smuggling in Gazea and one of the smugglers was in Raitle. The rich used it to buy slaves to serve as gladiators with large stakes. The slaves who were made gladiators were the average minors."

"Have you arrested the perpetrators?" ask Lail.

Anom nodded. "Yes. But father was a little confused taking care of the slave who had been freed."

"We need to give them a decent life and give them back their rights, Dad."

Anom listened to Lail's explanation.

"Employing minors beyond their means is a crime. We need to give them protection until they can finally be released, Dad."

Anom thoughtlessly hesitated to say if Lail could help him again, but Lail suddenly volunteered and would volunteer to take care of the newly freed children from slavery.

"If you don't mind, let me help" Lail said firmly.

"Dad will be greatly helped by your helping hand. Please help me take care of Raitle, son." Anom smiled proudly.
