Secrets of the Former (Love Left Behind)

Secrets of the Former (Love Left Behind)
Twenty Eight

"*Two weeks."

"But why can't I call you in two weeks?"

"So you can focus on completing the thesis*."

Shanessa snorts at Nevan's words just now, again the thesis.

"It's overkill, isn't it?"

Nevan shook his head. "Two weeks. After that I'll come back to you."

Shanessa recalled Nevan's conversation with her just a moment ago and apparently what Nevan said wasn't all wrong, she was indeed more focused on her script.

It feels really almost crazy when racing with time for guidance with lecturers, rummaging through libraries in search of books, plunging directly into the field for research, staying up late on completing data, etc, then pursue the lecturer again for guidance on the next stage. The thing he did for almost two months with ogah-ogahan.

Even appetite can plummet beyond a breakup. However, this was the result now, Shanessa was smiling proudly as she had just registered for the thesis trial. He stared at the registration blank as if staring at a photo of the lover, very friendly. Now all he did was wait for the trial schedule to come out.

Shanessa can't wait to share her happiness with Nevan. So, this afternoon he rushed to Nevan's office with a box of donuts in hand. He pushed through the glass door and into the building where Nevan's office was. Sometimes he glanced at the donut box he was carrying and smiled again.

He stepped towards the elevator, but from a distance he saw the elevator door open and Gantari got out of there in a hurry, then ran frantically out of the building.

Shanessa reflexively chases after him and restrains Gantari's arm to ask what happened.

At first Gantari thrashed for release, but then with tears dripping down she shouted, "Mother collapsed!"

Shanessa cheers, she lets Gantari run again. Then ran with him. At the main door, they go to Nevan, who has just finished seeing a client, and Shanessa pulls him off without warning. He then asked Nevan to take them to the hospital.

Gantari had refused and intended to wait for a passing taxi, but thinking of her mother who might not be able to wait made her nod in agreement.

In the car Gantari's hands continued to tremble even though Shanessa was already tightly hugging her. Just like that time, only her tears continued to drip, without coming out the slightest sobbing. From the rearview mirror inside, Nevan silently watched. He felt his chest hurt until his eyes warmed up.

Just as Nevan's car tire touched the parking lot, Gantari opened the door and jumped out. Makes Shanessa's heart almost dislodged.

The three of them ran down the corridor of the hospital, unconcerned by the astonished look of the people. Gantari was in the front position because he ran as hard as he could. Shanessa and Nevan were left behind.

Arriving at the room, Shanessa and Nevan had seen Gantari roaring. Farez held both of Gantari's shoulders so he could be a little calmer, but Gantari struggled to be released. On the bed, the mother's breath was seen one by one with the help of oxygen pumped by a nurse. His eyes opened a little, then asked Gantari to come closer with the movement of his hand.

Farez just let go of Gantari when he nodded in agreement to be calmer.

Mother forced her lips together, creating a strange smile that made Gantari feel her heart being squeezed. There was a fear in Gantari's eyes. Her tears really could not be dammed anymore and her lips she bit to hold a sob.

Shanessa is still staring at the door. He closed his own mouth so that no sobs would come out, while Nevan remained outside. Thought garbled.

"Which ion?" ask mommy broke.

Gantari. "Mom must be strong. Dihyan needs a mother," isak Gantari pilu.

"Dion?" Mother's voice is getting weaker, making Gantari more limp.

"I'm here."

Gantari was wide-eyed, and Shanessa was widening her eyes. He even shook his head in disbelief.

"Dion here, Mom," Nevan repeated.

Mother again reviewed her hard-earned smile, then returned Nevan's grasp weakly.

"Please look after Dihyan," tears dripped in the corner of his old eye. "Please take care of your wife."

***

Sometimes tears don't represent everything. I no longer cry at funerals. He decided to follow all the processions without a single tear. From bathing, brushing, to polishing. She wants to do her best for the last time.

Shanessa looked evasive. At this time he could not strengthen the cousin because his heart was just as messy. There is a turmoil as hard as he tried to pendam in order to respect the sacredness of the departure of the aunt.

The funeral process that day was ushered in by the bright light of the sun even though it was evening. Some people are afraid, the light was buried along with the buried body of a woman who bears the status of the mother.

Gantari was still staring far down the burrow, even though the earth began to be lowered. Ardiman had gone home a few days ago, so he could be present in the procession. He occasionally seemed to hug the nephew trying to strengthen. There was also Farez, sister Irma and sister Dina. There are also Tiwi who often steal eyes with puffy eyes.

After prayers were recited, people began to leave the cemetery. Ardiman also invites Gantari to return home, but she refuses to move. Finally Ardiman whispered softly saying he would wait for her in the car alone.

Before turning around, Ardiman glanced at his daughter who seemed to be keeping a distance with Gantari and instead followed her towards the car.

Nevan is like that too. She knew Shanessa was surprised by all, but she had not had a chance to explain. So, he chose to stay away from both.

He turned and walked away from the funeral. However, when he was about to enter the car, his eyes saw the mother was walking closer to Gantari. He returned there with wide steps. Don't want anything inappropriate to happen here today.

Arriving near them, Nevan only realized that the mother was sobbing while saying sorry words over and over again.

It seems only Tiwi managed to get eye contact from Gantari. Although it is a cold gaze that is able to make the interlocutor shiver.

Nevan holds his mother's shoulder, but Tiwi seems unconcerned.

"I'm sorry, Dihyan," he pleaded. "I ruined your life."

Nevan frowned, not understanding.

"I really don't know the condition of your mother" he continued. He tried to touch Gantari's hand, but Gantari turned around to hold Tiwi's hand firmly. Until Nevan's mother grimaces in the middle of her prank.

"My mother is not a parasite" said Gantari sharply. Then, a rough throw of that trembling hand.

"But my mother said she forgave you" said Gantari.

Gantari's words just now instantly made Tiwi roar and hold Gantari tightly. However, this time Gantari did not refuse.

Nevan looked at her mother from behind. So, here's the answer. So, this is the reason for Gantari's mother's departure from their lives. So, this is the beginning of everything. His chest was tight, so it felt like it was going to explode. She's upset. He's disappointed. She's. embarrassed.
