[Chapter 15-1] The Purple Swordsman and Dragon Trapper Sakti

The first time I met him, there was a disturbing feeling that just happened. It could be because of his friendly attitude towards me who is a nobody. Far from my predictions and judgments while in the inn at that time.

I'm still trying to think positively, even though I can't get rid of the suspicion in my mind. Maybe it was just Sam's passion, who wasn't used to hanging out with nobles. It's only possible, because strangely enough, that Arson didn't take his eyes off me. Like a hungry wolf stalking its prey. I started to feel uncomfortable when I realized that. Hope to get away from there soon.

Unfortunately, that never happened. Without hesitation, the noble asked me for "help. Asking me to join his army. An honor worth 1000 dem.

Crazy one! That's too cheap!

A thousand dem for a task that risked lives! Not a front line with a spear, or an attacking warrior with a sword indeed. However, the rear unit, which moves on its own without the help of other teams. Without a weapon and only equipped with a sharp iron chain, and a hammer. Tasked with ensnaring and preventing the dragon to fly while breathing fire.

Inevitably I have to agree, because maybe later I will be re-accused as a looter. After all, even if given a weapon like a sword or spear, I am not sure it is useful to fight the dragon. I am also not good at using it.

The day before night. The participants of the battle-ready contest gathered in front of the entrance gate of the castle, which contained a wide trench as a barrier. There was a feisty aura that erupted among the low vocals of the gunmen, who were not the least bit daunted even though the opponent was a fire-wasting dragon. Maybe because there's Arson and his sword.

Not long. The blond, slippery-faced man, came out of his big tent. Stand at the front row with confidence. Raise one hand. Make the crowd shut up for a moment. Focus him.

"Fighters!" He shouted with one hand clenched.

Screams of hundreds of weapons were heard, as followers of the competition responded to Arson's call. Unaware, I followed them screaming. Encouraged by the spirit that comes out.

"Away across this moat. As we all know, a dragon lives. A ferocious dragon with a breath of fire who has kidnapped Princess Asaru on the orders of an evil ascetic, in order to destroy the kingdom of the Capitor. As the Forest Fairy said," he said. "Yes, the evil ascetic who once lived in the Dark Forest. Ruler of wild animals and has another form as a giant bear. He had not been killed by the two adventurous brothers, and had been hiding all this time waiting for a chance to avenge him. And now he's coming back to rule the Capitor kingdom! Even the entire region of the Suno continent. Will you be silent after knowing it!?"

Hearing that, Sam's memory comes to the surface. The story of two brothers who defeat an evil hermit in the form of a bear. To avenge their father. The story of his bedtime delivery boy.

Hey, hold on! The evil ascetic? What does he mean by Artapatu? Whatdoes thatmean? I swear, I'm confused by the story in this damned book. Who is evil, and who is good?

Cheers were heard answering the question, until Arson raised his hand again. Muffled the noise before he continued his words.

"Of course not! Therefore, we are fighting together here, as one entity, for the beloved kingdom of the Capitors. For the sake of protecting the Suno continent, from the dirty hands of evil. Move in one command from me. There is no need to be afraid of you coming home empty-handed, because I make sure with this life guarantee, you will get the right gift without exception!"

Simultaneously, the sound of a spirit cry once again sounded. Even louder than before. No need to explain why.

The shriek grew louder and louder, as Arson unsheathed the sword and raised it high. I was amazed to see a sword that gave off a purple light. Amazed, but at the same time horrified. I don't know why.

Apart from the strange feeling of tussling. Looking at the purple glow that Arson was pointing at, I knew and sure was right, the sword had great luck. It might also be able to pierce through the scales of the dragon so hard. I believe that, because looking at the time of this world, there can be no neon lights that can be paired into the sword.

"Prepare, and we can achieve victory by drawing this sword. Right into the heart of the red scaly dragon pomegranate!"

Our roar sounded echoing, making the ground around vibrate violently. I was alarmed as I set foot on the wooden bridge connecting to the entrance of the castle, which also served as the gate. How not. The wood of the footing creaked loudly, and when I saw it, it had arched in order to hold our weight. Fortunately, it was able to hold on after I managed to get through it and enter the short passageway of the castle entrance. Connects to a large double gate that is wide open.

I was stunned the first time I saw the inside of this castle. So broad and sturdy, but crumpled dimly in almost all parts. Rompal stairs, broken walls, hollow ceilings, porous large pillars, destroyed floors even form craters, until the former burned in many places.

Is it possible that it was all the impact of the fight with the "friendly" dragon"? Or maybe a former big fight long before?

It's unclear. There is little information from the memory of Sam, who said that this castle has long been abandoned and famous haunted. In fact, the royal party has given a hard prohibition not to approach the hundreds-year-old castle.

I keep moving forward with the flow. Not knowing the position is clear, until the torches are attached to the wall, one by one lit. The dim atmosphere with only moonlight as the light, began to fade. Somewhat bright, although not as bright as if you turn on the lights in the house. But sufficient.

Honestly, due to the dim lighting of the constantly swaying torch flame, the creepy atmosphere like in the horror movie awakens completely. Instead of being afraid of the dragon's appearance, I was more worried that there would be a broken face man with knife fingers who appeared and slaughtered us. Or maybe the appearance of a female ghost wearing a white, long-fingered negligee, aimed at preying on men. Favorite meal.

"Prepare to position!" arson's command while brandishing the height of his sword.

The flow of human movement within the castle instantly hardened. I was tossed in the middle. Confused where to go, because at the briefing, I honestly did not listen to him. Because lazy to mix annoyed at the arrogant attitude of the nobleman when talking.

"Hey, Sam! Sam! Over here!" call out to Kord while waving his high-raised hand.

I approached him at that moment. Against the flow of humans who are preparing to occupy their position. Sneaking from the sidelines to the sidelines. Good thing Sam's body is still fairly small, when compared to the average of the other contest participants, so it is not too difficult to approach Kord.

"Where are you going? Our place is on the southeast side. You scared? Relax, just. Your brave friend will protect you."

Upset at hearing his pretentious babble, but well, there is no time to tie it up to be used as bait by the dragon. Therefore, I followed him towards the post that was predetermined for us. The brave warriors the dragon trappers. That's the "extraordinary" nickname that Arson gave us. Refined the phrase "useless person, who can not even swing a sword", which was received with a big smile by the****Cord.

Well, even though this is actually the most appropriate task for us. Especially Kord who at the first time to follow the battle, he instead pierced the arms of others when he was about to swing his sword towards the dragon. Rather than adding to the injuries caused by unintentional stupidity, this is the most appropriate job for us.

Kord and I were hiding behind a large pole next to each other. Holding a chain of sticks and a hammer with trembling hands. Whether we will succeed or not, for sure after finishing this task, as soon as possible I will run away from the battle arena. As far as possible from the range of the dragon's fire spray, and also the area that allows it to be hit by stray arrows.

"Prepare!" Arson's voice echoed quickly in this empty stone castle room. "Start!"

And, my heart was beating unbecoming of hearing that command. Anxious mixed with fear.

Reasonable right? His opponent was a giant dragon.
