IN THE CAGE

IN THE CAGE
99. AN INVITATION

...ACE pov's...

...----------------...

"Boss Ace, I-I'm sorry, Fawn said he won't come." Vera said with nervousness. The panic in his eyes.

That girl, ever since I found out about her relationship with Anggara, she's been so scared of me. It was as if I was going to fire him, or worse, pry the brain out of his ear. Which of course--, can I do, but for what?

I'll let Anggara play around with Vera. I want to see how far the Anggara idiot is able to play behind Evan Caspian? How much control does he have in their family alliance?Because to be honest, if Evan knew what Anggara was doing - I believe Evan would have asked the two to separate immediately, Vera and Anggara.

Evan hates me and everything related to me, which is Vera.

I've taken everything into account, even before I saw them on Callum Rashid's birthday show, I already knew the two had quite a complicated relationship. I'm not stupid, either - I have Margot as a brother. The woman understands Vera and Anggara's relationship only by the way the two cast eyes at each other. That's not surprising anymore.

Putting aside Vera's problem as well, I have more important business. My Russian has refused my invitation to meet. I don't like this. I prepared myself perfectly to meet him!

"Did Fawn say anything else?" I threw my gaze at Vera, after staring at the sand that had fallen down on my glass hourglass. "Maybe?"

I believe Fawn is a girl with an open mind. He may be a bit of a moron here and there, but he has the acumen to read the situation. She must have known that my relationship with Indira was nothing more than mutual symbiosis. I can't possibly like Indira. That stone-headed girl with an IQ below minus was not my taste at all.

Fawn might be jealous, but she couldn't possibly decide to avoid me forever, right?

"He said goodbye and blocked me. I couldn't contact him again after that. I also tried to contact him using Haru's cell phone, but nothing. Looks like he turned off his phone."

So he decided to avoid me.

Did something happen to her? I hope Evan Caspian doesn't touch her, because if he dares to put his fingertips in my frame, he'll die. Seriously, he's going to die today!

"All right, you can go." I kicked Vera out of my room. I have all my plans today. I don't know what to do. I hate the fact that we parted in unpleasant circumstances. I hate it because, those bad things will haunt Fawn's mind.

I don't want him to think things out and lose focus on his job.

I hope Indira is serious when she says Fawn is her brother, she has to protect Fawn.

Oh, and me?

Since I now have some spare time.., should I attack Evan Caspian now? I believe the bastard has not paid compensation for tarnishing my image on social media.

...FAWN...

The sound of a simple gun eruption in the shooting practice room. The earphones clogging my cheeks did not completely shut off the sound from outside. The sound of the sound of bullets hitting the target board still faintly reached my ears. I shot the target board a few times before putting my gun on the table. My eyes narrowed slightly, staring at the target board. My shots hit the target in the same spot, over and over again. I feel proud of my accuracy in shooting that has not faded at all.

I'm glad to be back on this activity. I've re-dedicated myself to a profession I've chosen myself, a bodyguard.

By the way, it's been a week since Miss Indira moved into Mr. Evan's room. Since then, I have not met Miss Indira. Me and the other bodyguards, including Aidan, lost our jobs. Having no specific task other than vague pacing in this mansion, I decided to hone my skills only.

I practiced shooting, did sparing with Joseph and the other bodyguards, oversaw the recruitment of a new bodyguard in the house, and sometimes I would just find myself sitting around in this particular cafeteria of workers in the house. Drink a cup of coffee and the mind is filled by Ace again.

I was curious about the man's news, but I couldn't meet him.

Not with all the chaos.

Mr. Evan seems angry again today. I heard that his hotel building project in the South failed because a media exposed the corruption that occurred in his company, found illegal transactions that occurred there and the worst was, all of those articles made investors pull their investments from Clubs. They don't want to get the same stain on their name.

I thought it was a good choice, but Mr. Evan must be a big loss. The construction of the hotel has been partially completed.

No wonder he threw his laptop from the second floor yesterday. A bodyguard standing guard on the first floor was gossiping about the news to me as we sparred. He said he was very surprised at the throw of Mr. Evan, his soul until out of the body.

That's funny, and at the same time apprehensive. I didn't know Mr. Evan was a temperamental guy.

"Fawn," someone scolded me when I came out of the shooting practice. Still mending my coat roll, I looked towards Aidan who today appeared rather messy.

"What's wrong?" my many.

"Boss Evan called you."

"Yes, he's in his study." Damn, what else does he want now?

"All right," I can't resist.

In the end, after pinning the gun back to my back, I sauntered towards the second floor. To the workspace of Mr. Evan who was strangely open at the time. Looks like he has a guest.

I stood by the door and interrupted whatever Mr. Evan was talking about inside with a knock.

"Oh, Fawn. Login." Mr. Evan gave me permission.

I waltz in. The closer I got to Mr. Evan's desk, the clearer was the back of the man who was now behind me. I got closer to it and felt my tongue twitch and my legs go stiff. My eyes widened in astonishment as the figure sitting on the swivel bench twisted its body to face me. Swept me.

"Fawn," her friendly, witty voice made my esophagus dry for a moment.

"You know?" mr. Evan asked, I'm surprised he doesn't know anything. Does this mean this guy-Jemaine Emery hasn't said anything to him yet?

"Of course I know. He's Indira's bodyguard, isn't he?"

"Huh, yeah."

"She's so pretty, it's hard to take my attention away from her."

Evan raised his eyebrows and seriously, I want to kick Jem off his stool right now. What the hell is he doing here? Did he come to betray Ace? Is he not deterred?

"Fawn, I have a job for you."

"Yes?"

Mr. Evan took out an invitation from his desk drawer, an invitation with gold ink engraved on it. "I want you to hand this invitation over to the Hunter residence."

"HUH?"

Did I not hear wrong? What was with this invitation all of a sudden?

"I'm the one who suggested this, to be honest." Jem raise his voice.

"Wait a minute, why me?" Don't they have anyone else to govern? I'm not an owl, motherfucker!

"You're the only bodyguard Indira doesn't have a job, right?"

"Joseph too."

"Joseph went to lady Mikoto's residence in the West."

"Huh? But, why would I.., I mean, you can get Rishan."

Also, why did Mr. Evan suddenly invite Ace. What invitation?

"This is a meeting to discuss business, Fawn." It was like reading me. "You're the only one who won't have a problem going to the Hunter residence."

"Why?"

"Because you're an Anggara, your knowledge of this place is a bit. If you die there, I'll lose nothing." Evan sat at his desk. "Also, aren't you just idle lately. Do your job and stop arguing. This meeting is very important."

"Isn't there a rule not to touch each other's bodyguards?" I squeak. As I recall, there was an agreement that said if one family hurt people from another family when their status was reconciled, it was able to create a dispute.

"That rule only applies when the situation is at peace and safe."

"What does that mean now that it's not?"

No, the answer is no.
