IN THE CAGE

IN THE CAGE
145. THE NIGHT BEFORE THE FUNERAL

...NORMAL pov...

...----------------...

Arcelio Hunter never pulled the words that had come out of his lips. It was an absolute rule that not many people knew, that 'unfortunately' not many people knew. If only they knew the rules, they probably wouldn't have dared to do something that violated Ace's words.

The same goes for Fawn. The misfortune that he had obtained was none other than coming from his ignorance of the figure of Arcelio Hunter, a man who never drew his own words.

The day that Ace gave Fawn an ultimatum so that the girl would not flee her life, that, if Fawn decided to flee, she would, Ace will get rid of the three most important people in the girl's life - the rules still apply. Ace simply showed no spontaneous reaction to the decision Fawn made. Instead, Ace proved his point slowly.

Until finally only one person was left in Fawnia's life...

'If only you hadn't run away from me, ' Ace sat there wiping Fawn's black strands that were on his arm. It is soft and scented like a flower. Fawn slept next to him, tired of crying all day. Every time he recalled Lilian's figure, Fawn would sob with appalling fondness.

Ace tried to calm him down for some time, but the experiment was only worth a pleasantries because Ace did not care so much about Fawn's current grief. No, rather, Ace did not understand the situation at all.

The lack of sympathy he felt was no longer new, Ace was not the type of man who cried loudly when his parents died, so something like grief was foreign to him.

"Boss Ace..." Carcel appears at Ace's doorstep. The man seemed to be carrying important information.

"I'll be out for a minute" Ace said. Carcel nodded and closed the door again. After that, Ace shifted slowly from the bed. He made sure Fawn was asleep in a comfortable state, and her movements did not disturb the girl's sleep at all.

Not long after, Ace retraced out of his room. He breezed toward Carcel who was standing alone in a quiet corridor.

"Is there anything important?"

"Rio has completed his mission, Boss. Now he's back in the mansion" Carcel reported.

Speaking of Rio's mission, then it is about the removal of someone who is in the last row of the most important figure in Fawn's life. A man named Vita Harmons. Ace was not aware of any detailed information regarding the woman or how she was worth anything in Fawn's eyes. But, for the sake of avoiding just in case Fawn would rely on him, he would rather be eliminated as well.

"How was the funeral preparation for Lilian?"

"His funeral will be held at eleven p.m. Since Lilian Alder does not have a single family close by and cares to attend his funeral, it is likely that tomorrow's ceremony will only be attended by our side."

"That's good," said Ace. "I don't really care about the existence of other people who can be a bitch in my relationship with Fawn." It's not that getting rid of the parasites is difficult, no, not at all. Only, Ace was lazy to expend his energy.

"What is Uncle Jack doing now?" Ace finally got back to business.

"He's preparing for Monday's attack." The plan, Ace will lead some of his bodyguards to attack the Caspian family's main residence later Monday. Although Ace was not particularly fond of silly fights involving violence, Ace still had to put a point at the end of the conflict that would continue to occur if one of them did not die. So.., yeah.

"Has Max not shown any reaction to the message I sent the other day?"

"He still seems to have a hard time accepting the offer, Boss."

While he exchanged words with Carcel as well, Ace recalled the content of the letter he submitted to Maximillian through Margot. A letter that gives Max a choice, i.e., if Max wants Evan to stay alive, Max must hand over Harkin's killer and Vega - Ace's parents - before Monday.

That's a simple choice. It's simple that Max wasn't Harkin's killer. However, Max is the main culprit. In order to provide a good environment for Evan, in order for his son to be able to become the dominant party among the four leading heads in the North, he soiled his own hands by killing Harkin and Vega, the Hunter family.

The move is not a mistake if Max does not leave the two children Harkin breathing and wandering as a successor in Hunter.

Well, maybe he still had a little conscience with sympathy for the son of his own enemy. But idiots are still idiots. Did he think the son of his enemy would not take revenge?

'I may not have paid much attention to the deaths of father and mother, but Margot...' Ace thought as he recalled Margot's expression at her parents' funeral. How the woman roared full of wrath after the loss of a life that was very meaningful in her life.

'Yup, it's impossible that Margot will be fine and forget her grudge.' The bloodthirsty woman dared to do anything, including threatening Ace with her own life if her grudges were not met.

"Boss Ace, what are you thinking?" Carcel seemed to be worried about Ace's sudden silence.

"Nothing matters" Ace said. "Perhaps because tomorrow I need to face Fawn's mother's funeral, I can't help but feel a little nostalgic at dad's funeral."

"Oh..." Carcel gasped at Ace's confession. He did not know what to respond to the confessions of his superiors who seemed to call out pity.

Ace - though it looks like a monster that won't bleed when stabbed - is still a man who has a close bond to Harkin Hunter. They may have split up in hostile circumstances, but the hostility did not mask the reality that Harkin was the father and teacher who educated Ace until he became the cold-blooded man he is today.

"Did you miss Mr. Harkin, boss?" Carcel asked with a sigh.

Hearing Carcel's question, Ace chuckled lightly. He glanced at Carcel at a glance before shaking his head. He had no idea the question would come out of Carcel's mouth. A man who has seen how he lives his life.

"Calling the nostalgia I feel right now as longing sounds a bit wrong, right?" Ace answered with another question.

"That's.., I think it's natural for you to miss your own father, Boss."

"Mm.., but for someone who lives his life beyond the line of reasonableness, I feel the word longing is not very suitable to describe my feelings for my father. I may think about it, but I don't know." It was very strange and strange in the ears.

Also, didn't the longing arise from wanting to meet that person again? Wanna see? Abandoned existence?

Desiring the existence of the figure of Harkin Hunter, wanting to meet him or just see him back is something that Ace never felt at all. If there was something he felt every time he remembered his father, then it was boredom. Ace is bored considering how his father's death left him suffering under the pressure of the insane Margot.

"I'm going back to my room now" Ace said. "After tomorrow's funeral, Fawn and I will return home. I need you to remind Felix to prepare a big lunch for Fawn."

"Good, Boss." Carcel nodded.
