124. GLIMPSE INFORMATION

...NORMAL pov...

...----------------...

Like Anggara's orders, no matter what happens, just keep an eye on Indira. With that commandment anyway, Fawn who was in the Caspian family's main residence - in the same residence where Vera was confined and tormented - Fawn did not care much about the situation surrounding her unless it was related to her Indira. As long as Indira obtained the food supply from the cafeteria, Fawn thought the situation of Indira in Evan's room was fine.

At least, physically, the young lady he had served for a long time was still in good health. Mentally, the situation is quite dubious.

Fawn conveyed the same message to Joseph. The message Anggara gave some time ago to focus only on Indira. However, unlike Fawn who is always auto-focused on his goals, Joseph has a divided focus here and there. In another sense, he likes to stick his nose at affairs that have nothing to do with his duties.

Today again is an example...,

As Fawn was pacing under the balcony of Evan Caspian's room, hoping to steal something from the man's room despite the fact that a considerable distance and supported by a locked balcony door made a sound unable to escape from there, Fawn remained there. Joseph on the other hand, lost somewhere.

Fawn just met Joseph at lunchtime.

"Did you hear something?" joseph asked, very interested.

"It's impossible to hear anything if the balcony door is locked." Fawn replied with a withered voice. "I'm so concerned, don't they let Miss Indi be exposed to the sun? He can blanch out of energy in there."

"Oh." Joseph took a moment.

"Oh? Oooh, speaking of oh, where are you from, Joe? I haven't seen you all day." Fawn's voice sounded offensive. It felt a bit annoying when only he was working.

"I went around today," Joseph responded with a stiff grin. "Also.., I meant my question earlier.., I asked you about the rumors that were circulating.., not something about the boss Indi."

"Huh, rumors?" Fawn glanced left right. "What rumors? Why are you focusing so badly on other people's business, Joe? Have you forgotten your own duty?"

Joseph pulled a shoulder. "What I'm doing right now is still part of my job, Fawn. You may not know, but Indira's boss ordered me to be a spy and watch the situation in this house."

"That's a noble mission, if only Ms. Indi was free. Now, Miss Indi is being held captive, I don't think there's anything more important than finding out the situation and finding a way to release her."

"Yes, tell me it belongs to Indi's own boss. I gave him a solution, but he decided to stay locked up in that room. Until now, to ask for our help, Indi boss already has a solution and he still does nothing." Joseph mumbled long. The spoon that had barely reached his mouth was put back onto the plate while he continued his words.

"Doesn't that mean Indi's boss had other thoughts? Maybe he has his own tricks. Things that only those who work on top of us know. You have to stop worrying about Indi's boss as if he's tied up there without a fight and helpless."

Fawn-kendati still worries Indira-understands Joseph's point of view. They have indeed handed over the solution to Indira, a disposable mobile phone and a knife. Oh, Joseph had offered to save Indira that day if he wanted to leave. But no, Indira did not want to leave. He said clearly that he would stay there. Tied up in there.

Fawn should not have thought so much about Indira's situation with concern stirring, but she was unable to hold herself back. Not when he's ever been in the same situation. Fawn knew, no matter how Indira tried to manipulate Evan with her innocence, there would be a day of restraint that felt very torturous, very desperate.

Fawn sighed. "So, what rumors did you hear from your tour today?"

Forced, Fawn changed the topic. If he were to argue with Joseph about what he should and should not feel for Indira's captivity, they would only argue until sunset.

"Someone..," murmured Joseph. He glanced left and right, back and front before continuing, "A subordinate of the Hunter family is now under our feet."

Joseph's words were like lightning striking the head. Fawn was silent with the heart that stopped beating right then and there.

"What do you mean under our feet?" Fawn says with stiff facial muscles. Tongue's cow.

"In the basement" Joseph repeated. This time it signals a tied hand. If clearly outlined, then Joseph meant someone tied up in the basement. Then, the worst thing about that information was, that someone was Ace Hunter's subordinate. Ace's subordinate.

Fawn's stomach felt slumped as she thought about the possibility of who that person was. His heart seemed to be stabbed by a sharp needle, slowly.

"Is he still alive?" Fawn felt her hands tremble.

"I hear so. Boss Evan seemed to be taking a big interest in his catch, he didn't even get out of there until nine this morning. I was at odds with him when he came back from the basement. I saw the blood on his hands and some poop as well." Joseph explained at length. "I think..., Evan's boss was involved in the torture right there. It's very rare."

"That's not true." Fawn would not be surprised if Evan was involved in the torture. Ace too, when one caught him, also tortured him directly.

"Do you know who was arrested?" Fawn wondered with nervousness. The tip of his fingers froze in the cold that stung the skin.

"Of course."

"Either?" Fawn protested Joseph's ignorance. It was as if the man was guilty.

"Where may I know everything" Joseph defended himself. "As I said, I only heard wind tidings here and there. If I get too close to that information, it doesn't rule out the possibility that I'll end up tied up in the same place as that person."

Joseph's reasoning was reasonable, but Fawn was not happy. How can he be at ease thinking that someone, his friend perhaps, is being bound under his feet, suffering?

"You seem to care a lot about that information." Joseph went back to eating the food in his tray, eyes watching Fawn with attention that Fawn did not want. Fawn doesn't want Joseph to know anything about the Hunter family.

"I just.., feel sorry." Fawn. "You know, we're subordinates. Such a situation could happen to you or me. So, forget it. I might be a soybean."

"I have the same sentiment." Joseph smiled. "This, for mere information, seems like Mr. Evan caught this guy looking for something. So, he won't die so quickly. No exception he gave up easily to torture. However, judging that he came from the Hunter family home, I think that figure must be quite formidable."

"Well, do you think enduring torture is better than dying?"

"I don't want to give up" Joseph replied as if to the face. Fawn felt low as she remembered herself. He begged to be turned off instead of receiving Ace's prolonged torment.

"You're very positive, aren't you?" Fawn smiled wryly.

"I don't know, maybe because I've never faced such terrible torture so I want to keep thinking positively." Joseph has a point. He himself was never a prisoner because he always succeeded in his mission.

During this time, Joseph had only ever obtained torture which was part of training only. Training to test his loyalty. Even though he had broken a bone here and there, it wasn't hard enough for Joseph to stop wishing on life.

"I hope you'll never change, Joe."

"Pray me never to be a prisoner, that's better."

"I'm worried about the prisoner" Fawn muttered again. He recalled the person who started this topic. Fawn worried about the figure, a figure he only knew as Ace's subordinate.

"What's the situation in the basement?" ask Fawn back. "Can we go there?"

"May you be taken prisoner." Joseph chuckles. "The security's very tight, Fawn. Also, I think if we go there, the situation must be very suspicious, right?"

"Oh.., you got a point."

"Forget it. We can't do anything."

Fawn, of course, hopes to share the same thoughts. However, with Ace's name listed there, in his mind, it would be difficult to dispel the anxiety that filled his chest.

'What should I do?'
