...FAWN...
...----------------...
"I have decided" said Miss Indira. In the speeding car that was splitting the highway, Miss Indira declared something to me and Aidan who was sitting on the front bench-throwing us.
Aidan listened with attentive eyes to the road. I, who was sitting next to Miss Indira, was confused to react like listening without much noise.
"I will divorce Evan" continued Miss Indira.
My throat was dry for a moment. Aidan peered at us through the rearview mirror.
"No-nona Indira," I said. "Calm slightly. Does Miss Indira want to go somewhere?"
"I'm serious, Fawn. I'm going to divorce Evan."
The problem is, Miss Indira. Just because you want to do it, doesn't mean Mr. Evan will give you the freedom to get out of his hands. Also, did Miss Indira forget that now the Rashid family is part of the Caspian family?
Their company cooperated because of the marriage that took place between the two of them.
"Miss Indira..." I want to say something, but calming an angry person is not my specialty. Oh, I can't even calm myself when I'm angry, how can I possibly calm Miss Indira?
Again, that morning, I bit my tongue. Withholding all the words that, when they come out of my mouth, will only end as a disaster. Yeah, words like 'Don't talk nonsense, Miss Indi!' or 'Just divorce, after all, he doesn't make you happy!', all those words that clog my mind would be nails in my coffin just in case I dared to say them.
Because, after all, Aidan is the spy for Mr. Evan. The man listened to everything that happened here and will report our every action to Mr. Evan. I'd be firewood heating the fireplace if Mr. Evan knew I was supporting Miss Indira to divorce her.
"Do you know what he's doing?" miss Indira this time spoke with a hint of tenderness and sadness in her voice. She who was always spoiled for me leaned on my shoulder. I felt a bit of pain there, but did not protest Miss Indira's actions.
I listened to the word that was about to come out of his lips with an alert ear. My hand grasped the delicate hand of Miss Indira, giving her some calm there.
"Evan let the media make me the object of gossip because he thought I deserved it." Miss Indira's voice slowly raspy. "He even blamed me for getting too close to Ace."
Really, that bastard!
"What's my fault if I choose to dance with Ace when my own husband is busy talking to other women? He didn't even greet me during the party and kept holding Norah everywhere."
Who's Norah?
"The girl was not even part of her family, just a friend she said she had known since childhood. Do you think it makes sense to spend more time with your friends until you forget your wife?"
"..."
"He doesn't value me at all as his wife. He's not the Evan I recognize. Even when we were friends, he wasn't as bad as he is now. I don't know him anymore, Fawn. I think I've misjudged it, I can't take it anymore."
Miss Indira is crying on my shoulder. The sound of her stuffing made my eyes somewhat teary.
Damn it, why am I so weak at the sound of sobbing? As if hearing Miss Indira's cry, I got hurt too. My heart is overwhelmed by pain.
Imagining myself in the position of Miss Indira, Evan Caspian might have died at my hands by then and there. I can't possibly survive the mind games that the two of them exchanged. Miss Indira who pretends to be strong, and Mr. Evan who oh, she is bad in every aspect.
"I know he can't love me, but he shouldn't hurt me. Does he think publicly humiliating me is the right thing to do to educate me?"
Of course not. I don't approve of that.
"If she thinks she can have fun with other women, can't I?"
Shit, I feel like the atmosphere in the car has changed a little. A sadness that emanated from Miss Indira turned a little dark and filled with pent-up anger. I was about to stare at Miss Indira's face, but she pulled herself to sit up straight, eyes staring at Aidan with sharp eyes twinkle.
"Aidan," called Miss Indira, her pair of still-wet eyeballs blazing implying flames of anger. "Take me to the mall."
"But Miss Indira, the area is very crowded. We don't have enough bodyguards to keep an eye on you in the crowd."
"Am I asking for your opinion?"
"Miss Indi-"
"You think of me or you get down here, Aidan."
Told you.
"All right, Miss Indira. I'll come with you." Aidan surrendered.
...----------------...
Miss Indira is not a girl you can hold back. She is the youngest Rashid who, though graceful and charming, has a stone head. He is very unruly and very shortsighted in response to something that does not go his way. I've seen all the pettiness of Miss Indira. He will explode in anger if something does not go his way, like a child who controls others with his emotions, Miss Indira is not much different.
Therefore, when today Miss Indira invited me to the mall and bought a variety of summer clothes that were open here and there, I knew she was showing her insubordinate side. He'll act out and make Evan Caspian even more angry.
"Is this okay?" Joseph wasn't the type of bodyguard who would get used to Miss Indira's madness. He approached me and whispered nervously. Miss Indira who we know is graceful and beautiful just came out of the dressing room. Red velvet mini dress covers her beautiful body. I was fixated for a while and wanted to clap her so amazed.
"What are you asking, Joseph? It's very good." I support whatever Miss Indira wants to do if it means making Evan Caspian frown. The man needs to feel a little retribution for his cruelty to Miss Indira.
"Now I understand why Miss Indira likes you so much" Joseph spoke again. "You support whatever he does. That's not good, Fawn."
"I support Miss Indira for fun. As long as he's happy, I have no reason to argue with him."
Even since Miss Indira was still in High School, when she was happy to climb a tree in the back yard of the school, as long as she didn't fall, I never prevented her decision.
"Yaaa, I hope he's just having fun" Joseph said.
I nodded while smiling.
What Joseph didn't know was, before we walked into one of the shops selling this beautiful dress, Miss Indira had already called Mesa. Asking his best friend to throw a party at Leviathan. A big party that, from my knowledge, will invite a variety of models, artists and male friends Miss Indira.
They're all coming, Ace's coming.
Thinking of the madness that Miss Indira created, I was a little happy. At least, I have a chance to see Ace again. Although we have just met.
"Fawn, do you want to pick a shirt too?" Miss Indira approached me.
"No need, Miss Indi. I'm at work." I don't think dressing openly would benefit my position right now. Especially with Ace's trace on my body that took me a few days to disappear. I'll just be the talk.
"Aww, are you sure?"
"I'm serious."
Miss Indira's lips pursed. "You're not fun at all."
"Ah, don't be, Miss Indi. I'm hurt."
"Keep lying like that." Miss Indira again monitored herself in front of the mirror. "By the way, what's wrong with your clothes? You don't usually wear a turtle neck in July."
"Yeah, I got the flu" and I lied.
"You have to take care of your health, Fawn."
"I'll try well. Miss Indira too, please don't cry anymore, okay?"
Miss Indira stared at my reflection from the glass, a faint smile on her face. Implies haru and sad. "Thank you for understanding me, Fawn."
"M." Mmm."
