IN THE CAGE

IN THE CAGE
50. IN THE DARKNESS

...NORMAL pov...

...----------------...

While the party was going on with blinding excitement, in a corner of the city far from the crowds and among the jungles-Indira inside the Caspian family's main residence stood alone on the balcony. He was barefoot and wearing only satin pajamas that hung up to his knees. The night wind greeted her body, clutching her with a temperature that bit her delicate skin.

Indira's eyes were fixed on the black forest under the moonlight. As he looked at the darkness, the light of the balcony lamp that accompanied him became the only source of light, dim and blackened in the blink of an eye.

When the dark light came, Indira's smile grew thin. He looked down at the balcony, at the crowd that began to spread in the front yard. Bodyguards carrying flashlights ran here and there, looking for the cause of the power outages that never happened in that place.

"Joseph.., I leave the rest to you." Indira whispered to the earphones tucked in her ear.

"Okay, boss." That response was the end of their conversation.

Removing the earphones that connected her to Joseph, Indira then sauntered leisurely towards the bed. The cold night temperature still clutched his body as he stepped in the darkness and landed on the bed. Then, after treading on the soft bed, Indira took a deep breath and...

"YAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" Shouts escaped from his throat, shrill to deafen his ears. "DAAAAAAANNNNN!!! HELP ME, AIDAAAAAAANNNNN!!!"

"DAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!"

"AIDAAANNNN!!!!"

It did not take long for Indira to shout, the door leaf made of teak wood was broken from the outside. Aidan along with at least five or six bodyguards ran in with panic. Some check the entire room.

"DAAAAAANNN!!!" Indira thrashed with a shivering body. He jumped into the arms of his new bodyguard. "HELP ME, WHAT'S GOING ON? THIS PLACE IS SO DARK, I'M SO SCARED!!!"

"Bos Indira, calm down.." Aidan held his breath as his boss's cold body now clenched him very tightly. He didn't know his boss was afraid of the dark. Sensing Indira's cold-shrinking body in her arms, Aidan became worried.

"Electricity's only temporarily out, boss. Our men are trying to investigate the cause."

"Don't leave me alone, please. Hyekss..., Anggara, I want Anggara? My sister..., no..., Evan, where's Evan?"

"Boss Evan is still outside." Aidan responded with concern. "Bos Indira need not fear, I will accompany you here."

"You don't understand.., I.., I'm afraid of dark places."

"Chris, bring a candle to Indira's boss' room right now." Aidan turned around and ordered a man who stood three steps behind him.

"Bos Indira, calm down a little...,"

Indira's shivering body and reluctant to take it off made Aidan not know how to respond to Indira. On the one hand, he wanted to calm down his boss, but on the other hand, he felt very uncomfortable being in the arms of his boss who was very close. Evan can hole his head if he knows Indira has been holding it this tight. No, maybe Aidan will die in the over-tight Indira decapitation.

"Boss Indira, I'll make you some tea." Aidan forced Indira out of his neck as if trying to remove the pithon. When Indira's decapitation was released as well, then Aidan breathed a sigh of relief. He put Indira to the lip of the bed, took out a thick blanket and wrapped his boss' body with the blanket.

"Don't leave me, I'm afraid to be alone." Indira's voice was full of fear.

"Axel will be here..."

"I don't know who Axel is, damn it!" then he exploded again. "You're planning on leaving me with a stranger? Did you abandon me??? In this house, I don't recognize anyone. Don't leave me, for God's sake."

Indira catches Aidan's wrist. His pair of teary eyes looked at the man grievously. Aidan - as a bodyguard who had only been working for a week with Indira - inevitably swallowed bitterly on his tongue. He was somehow concerned for his boss who was now cooped up in fear in the dark.

"Well, I'm not going anywhere." Aidan sighed, he took a standing position near the foot of the bed, eyes staring out the balcony.

Honestly speaking, Aidan was very astonished at the electricity in the Caspian residence that suddenly went out. This situation has never happened, never in its history of working here and it has been since seven years ago. Aidan was very worried about the situation in the Caspian mansion, but his legs and hands were chained in this place. Aidan could do nothing, and Evan's absence in the mansion today made the situation even more difficult to control. All the reliable and capable bodyguards were taken away to the city center, leaving behind ordinary bodyguards whose numbers could be counted as fingers.

"Aidan" Chris came from the kitchen carrying a cup of jasmine tea and a small plate of white candles. "Saris has checked the situation. There is an explosion in the control room that triggers a short-circuit voltage. The power's back on in five minutes."

"Do you know the cause of the explosion?" Aidan welcomes the teacup from Chris' hand.

"We haven't found any clues yet."

Pausing the conversation for a while, Aidan sauntered over to Indira. He handed the tea to his boss who was still wrapped in a blanket. Her pale face was visible under the faint light of the candle.

"Boss, drink this to calm you down."

"No problem, Boss." Chris looked polite, the same as Axel.

"Bos Indi-," from the outside hallway, came the sound of a man and his hasty footsteps. Aidan and Chris spontaneously paid their attention to the open door. As the footsteps approached, Aidan raised his gun in the air.

"Indira Boss..." Joseph entered Indira's room in panic. Sweat drenched his face. "Bos Indi, are you okay?"

"JOSEPH!!!" Seeing the familiar presence in her eyes, Indira ran over and approached Joseph with great relief. "You're from anywhere, motherfucker! I'm so scared!"

"I'm sorry boss," Joseph replied to Indira's greeting without actually touching her boss's back. "I fell down the stairs in a panic. Next to my feet, Agh-aaagh! The pain is just now!" Joseph tiptoed in horror as the pained sting in his shins began to feel.

"What's going on?" Aidan.

"I was smoking in the backyard when the power went out" Joseph replied while enduring the pain. "Because of Indi's worries, I ran in the darkness and fell on the stairs."

"Are you stupid? You should be careful." Aidan rebuked Joseph without hesitation. Joseph who received the shout, only grimaced holding keki.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't scold Joseph," said Indira. "He's just worried about me."

"But boss...,"

"Forget it, since Joseph is already here, you can all leave."

After all, there was no meaning to them crowding around in Indira's room. Getting the order to disband, Aidan also would not want to obey Indira's will. Starting from Chris, Axel then Aidan-they backed off regularly.

After the departure of the three of them, Indira's look of shock dissolved. He looked at Joseph with concern. "Is that really painful?"

It means that Joseph's legs were now sacrificed in order to create a convincing alibi.

"It doesn't matter." Joseph forced a smile on his pain.

"Then, how?"

"I've installed the tapper where Indira's boss asked for it. Ah---, I also accidentally found something while checking Evan's boss' desk."

"What's that?"

Joseph pulled the phone out of his pocket, fiddling with it for a while before handing it to Indira. A picture was there, a picture of Evan's desk that was a bit messy and on those white papers, he said, a file about the death reports of Harkin Hunter and his wife-Hanna Hunter-is lying on the table. The file was full of scribbles until only the name of the victim was clearly listed there.

"It's..." Indira gave a lip, worried about what her eyes were seeing.

"I think Evan's boss is investigating the death of Ace's parents, boss." Joseph gave his answer. "Unfortunately, all the information in this file is covered."

"Didn't Harkin Hunter die in the explosion, why was the result of his investigation covered up?"

"It is likely that Mr. Ace's side asked that."

The main question is why does Evan want to know the problem? What does he want from the information about Harkin Hunter's death?

While Indira was troubled in the many questions that appeared in his mind, the lights that had previously died finally lit up. The bright light from the chandelier in the room made Indira blink her eyes several times before she could adapt.

"Thank you for your hard work, Joe. You can treat your legs now and oh.., one more..." Indira looked at Joseph with an innocent grin that made the bodyguard look down.

"I'll pass it on to Mr. Ace." Joseph responded to Indira's request before withdrawing from the room. "Good night."

"Good night."

Indira has made up her resolve, she will not stay in this house as a wife-trophy that is only useful as a display. He will not close his eyes to all the irregularities that occur around him.

He will find the answers to all the questions that hang in his mind, and it starts from Evan and Anggara's relationship that makes him very suspicious.
