Chapter 10 Decision

It was no easy matter to give an answer, two days had passed since the letter had reached his hands. Amus had already asked for a letter of reply but he still asked for a little more time to decide, whether his feelings alone or not but because of this a dividing wall was created between him and Amus.

"Na." call Sapardi from the kitchen.

"Yes father. "he answered lazily but still went to meet.

"Can you buy me a clock battery?"

"Oh well!" the answer.

The air outside felt bone-chilling as Ratna walked out of the alley, her hair unraveling in the wind until her neck felt cold.

"Ah...why is the sky so empty?" he was looking for a star or moon.

"What are you doing here?" ask Jimy who suddenly came.

"Oh, dad told me to buy a battery. What do you want yourself?"

"Fill the stomach" he replied as he entered the store.

Ratna was still standing in front of the store until Jimy finished shopping.

"You want to?" hail Jimy after shopping.

Ratna shook her head lethargically, clearly in Jimy's eyes there was something wrong with her.

"Are you sick?" ask him who answered the arm again.

"Then why are you? I've seen lately you've been very lethargic like never before."

At first he hesitated to answer, but at times like this Jimy's advice seemed to be needed.

"Master! if... someone likes you and you like him too but you don't want to ruin the friendship between you guys, then what are you going to do?"

"Can you use a simple word? I don't understand what you mean!" jimy said frowning.

"Arrhhhhhhh.have forgotten it!" snapped Ratna pissed.

"Ck, if you like each other then where's the problem? you just have to live that relationship!" said Jimy who understood the outline of Ratna's intentions after thinking for a while.

"But master, then how to live it?"

"Aish, don't worry about the future! life must go on, if you are afraid to step up or make a decision then forever you will regret it. You also have to be happy, love yourself and do what you want to do, you deserve it!" jimy said.

Slowly there was a glimmer of light that led Ratna to the decision she was ready to make, all this time he never thought to do what he liked because he was used to doing what others told him.

Starting with the orders of his mother who obliges him to follow the orders of his stepfather as a sign of respect, then orders his mother to follow Sari's wishes as a sign of family affection.

Even he had to do what he hated for the sake of his mother's wishes just for the sake of living a prosperous life even though in the end the word bright future was not necessarily he got in his new family.

Perhaps, because his mother realized that the bright future was not necessarily so he was asked to return to his father at the end of his life. Now he has understood, whatever happens later let it happen because the main thing is his right to be happy.

After arriving home immediately his hand moved to pick up a ballpoint pen, stringing a sentence on paper that represented his heart.

"Sorry to have kept you waiting" Ratna said that morning.

Shortly before they left for school, he handed Amus a reply.

"Oh yeah, it's okay" replied Amus quietly.

"Alright, I go first" Ratna smiled before leaving.

The sudden release of heavy breathing, trembling his hand with a thumping heart, held the letter he had just received. Even his legs were reluctant to move, only his eyes still looked at Ratna's departure with reddened eyes.

The first lesson began shortly after the entrance bell rang, it seemed that Ratna's mood was better even as if it was flowery. Sometimes he steals a glance at Amus with a smile, watching Amus' movements that look cooler than usual.

"You looking for something?" tanyanya sees Amus checking her bag and desk.

"You can use mine" Ratna bargained as she thrust the object.

At first Amus seemed hesitant, but he took it and thanked him. At the break as usual they went to the cafeteria to order boiled noodles, with Ratna swiftly handing over their order and even pouring the sauce with the right dose for Amus.

"You want sambal too?" ask Ratna.

"Um.yeah, may" replied Amus puzzled over Ratna's suddenly kind attitude.

"Hmm.. I noticed from earlier it seems like something is different from you" said Ardi who sat right in front of Ratna.

"What?"

"Hm...... "

Ardi pondered for a moment, noticing every crack in Ratna's face that made her uncomfortable.

"Ah. you wear a hairpin" guessed Ardi who made all the eyes of his three best friends look towards his hair.

"O-oh this... yes... I've been wanting to wear it for a long time but doubt, is this not worth wearing?" tanyanya nervous.

"Not really! you look cute wearing that" replied Ardi.

"True, you look like a good girl" Jimy said.

"So all this time I wasn't a good girl?" snapped Ratna.

"The reality is like that, right? you're blackmailing your own friend if that's okay"

Erang Jimy while rubbing his slapped arm, a fight is inevitable. Ratna continued to attack even though Jimy had asked for mercy, he stopped when he glanced at the smiling Amus looking at his behavior and it made him blush in shame.

Usually Amus will struggle with comics or play ball after school, he has a lot of free time that can be spent on anything. But that day, after a reply he received even to eat, he lost his taste.

He just locked himself in the room while staring at the letter, shadowed by Ratna's radiant face and even a hairpin that made him look even sweeter.

From that expression he guessed perhaps Ratna's answer was yes, plus the attention Ratna suddenly showed.

Her eyes caressed the thumping chest.

"But..does he really agree? isn't this too soon considering he just moved, even he went to school also not even a month. Is it easy for a girl to fall in love?" he murmured again while thinking.

"Here I am, I have no right."

Amus decided to keep the letter in his school bag, the long night he spent trying to think of something other than the letter.

And the next day.

"Aish... You just startled me!" amus snapped as he exited the house and found Ratna already standing there.

"Good morning" said Ratna with a sweet smile.

"Oh, ah.. yeah, good morning... What are you doing here?" amus asked even more surprised to see Ratna's unusual attitude.

"Waiting!"

"waiting me? what's up?"

"Nothing! I just want to go to school with you" he replied.

'Why?.. Why do you behave like this? if this continues I can die' Amus' inner gaze fixedly.
