Chapter 53

Last night, Vane fell asleep with her back to Rey, while her husband was sleeping and could only stare at her back. Vane really became quiet. Rey doesn't like that. He prefers Vane to nag him if he makes the room messy, or just simply does not want to help him wipe the dining table.

This morning, Vane woke up later than she expected. Even the clock has shown at nine in the morning. Maybe this is the effect of fatigue due to his work yesterday plus taking the medicine given by Ana. Vane turned his head to the side and he did not find Rey beside him.

Vane got off the bed and stepped towards the bathroom. He took almost an hour in there because his body felt very sticky due to his activities yesterday. After the bath ritual was finished Vane came out of the room and found Mbok Nami was in the kitchen.

"Mbok Yeast"sapa Vane.

"For Mba" replied Mbok Nami.

Vane looks around, and he doesn't find Rey anywhere. Vane thinks maybe Rey is on the first floor, because today is a work day, maybe he met with his employees. Arriving on the first floor, Vane felt the atmosphere of this place was different. All the officers gave strange looks to him.

"Sit." Vane walked over to Sita and greeted her.

Sita turned to Vane who called her. Again Vane got a strange look.

"Why are you worried about me like that?"ask Vane suspiciously.

Sita did not answer, she grabbed her HP lying on her desk and turned it on and gave it to Vane. Vane receives Sita's HP and sees what Sita wants to show her. A headline today managed to make Vane explode.

"WHAAATT!!??"

Vane shouted so loudly that all the employees turned to look at him. Vane read the news carefully, and now the news about the capture of Adam and his friends became headlines not only in Indonesia but also the world.

Vane tries to control his emotions, after he succeeds then he says, "Where is Rey now?", Vane asks Sita.

"He left this morning with Aunt Sarah. He said they went to the Indonesian Interpol office" replied Sita.

Vane massaged his temple with his fingers, trying to think what he should do now. If he goes to the Interpol office then his identity will be revealed. But if he doesn't go there, he's worried about Rey and Sarah.

Before long came Reza who ran like a man chasing a thief. His breath was breathless and his expression was so confused.

"Due..."

"Van, you come with me now to Interpol's office." Reza cut Vane's word.

He walked over to Vane and grabbed his wrist and said, "Sit, nitip the office. If any journalists come here, call the fire department."

"Make what, Za?"ask Sita confused.

"Make the reporters use water so that their minds are cool, so that they can think of using the brain if Rey is in a difficult time, and they do not add to bed-wetting!"snapped Reza in an annoyed tone.

After she finished commenting, Reza dragged Vane out of the house, then told Vane to get into her car. Reza immediately plugged the gas out of Rey's house and headed for Interpol's office.

On the way, Vane continues to pray that Rey's condition is fine, but Vane hopes that her mother-in-law does not fall unconscious in the Interpol office. Reza occasionally glanced at Vane who looked very anxious. She has never seen any woman other than Sarah, who is so worried about Rey's situation. "I want to apologize" said Reza, who made Vane look at me with a confused look.

"Because I had to pretend not to know about Rey and Clara's relationship. I'm so sorry, Van. I have no intention of lying to you. But, it's all so complicated" Reza explained with a worried tone.

Reza was afraid that Vane would hate him. For as long as he lived, he never felt fear if a woman hated him. Vane is a good woman in his opinion, and he feels good to know her.

"Other than you, does anyone know about Rey and Clara's relationship?"ask Vane again.

"Om Indro" replied Reza hesitated.

"Za, for now I can't be a good time to discuss my personal issues with Rey. Although it is not a trivial problem but for now the most important thing is the problem facing the Rey family. I'm sure the media will go all out on Rey, and assume her family are criminals" Vane wisely replied.

Hearing this statement from Vane, Reza felt very amazed. How could he be heartened to allow himself to be hurt and be more considerate of others.

After an hour of travel, they finally arrived at Interpol's office. And worse yet, journalists are already hanging out in front of the office. Vane and Reza looked at each other to see how enthusiastic the reporters knew about this matter. Vane was already unconcerned about the existence of reporters. After Sarah's condition improved, Indro brought her brother home. Vane accompanies Rey to discuss Adam's fate. Right now they are walking towards the Interpol headroom. Rey looked nervous as she reached for the door handle. Vane pressed his grip on Rey's hand for sure.

"I just recovered from the wound that was given to me for my disappointment with Papah all this time. But now papah is giving wounds again. Even the wound was much deeper" Rey said blankly.

Adam let out a long sigh, behind the bars he could only stare at his son. She is eager to hug Rey and Sarah to apologize for all her mistakes.

"You can hate papah, because papah deserves to be hated. But you should know that Papah loves you and your mother very much. You are the most precious treasure in papah's life. Papah is willing to do anything as long as you are safe" Adam said in tears.

"Including committing a crime like this? Have you ever wondered how proud I am to have a good papah? But it turns out he's nothing more than a world-class loser."

Vane immediately gave a nod, then he ran after Rey. Now Rey has Vane's hand and takes him into the car and they leave Interpol's office. All along the journey there was silence. Vane glanced out the car window when he saw a newspaper seller carrying a newspaper with news about Adam being in headlines.
