Chapter 43

Vane began cooking and teaching his mother-in-law so patiently and painstakingly. Vane had wondered how this middle-aged woman could not cook western food even though her husband was foreign. Maybe because his Japanese taste is too thick.

"It's ready!"exclaimed Sarah gave celery leaves as a finishing for her cooking.

"Soupe a l’oignon ala Mamah Sarah!"so Vane clapped ria's hands.

Sarah wiped the sweat on her forehead, how difficult and troublesome it was to cook French food. It is fair that the price of French food is very expensive and surely only the upper class can set foot in the European restaurant. Until Sarah thought how much Vane cost while studying at Le Cordon Bleu France.

"Van, please call your father-in-law. He's in the library" Sarah asked.

With a nod and a sense of pleasure Vane walked out of the kitchen and up the stairs to head to the library. Knock on the door before entering and wait until her father-in-law lets her in.

"Vane." Adam was surprised to see Vane's head gawking inside. He put down the book he had been holding since.

Vane walked slowly in and an expression of admiration was clearly visible on his face. Presented by a fairly large library room with bookshelves made of teak wood attached to the entire wall contains various kinds of books whose thickness can melt the human brain.

"This is all papah's book collection?"

"Yes." Yeah." Adam smiled as he answered a question from his beautiful daughter-in-law.

Vane walked over to Adam who was sitting on a gray side chair with a round table in the middle. Vane sat in front of Adam, still occasionally staring at the bookshelves.

"You're a hobby of reading?"ask Adam kindly.

"Very." Vane answered so enthusiastically and there was a curiosity to touch the books and even bring them home or if possible the book belonged to him.

Adam who understands Vane's body language wants to touch the books of his collection.

"If you want to look at the books as permission" said Adam so gently.

Vane flinched and his face was instantly overjoyed. He stood up and headed towards the bookcase on the left. Vane picked the book he wanted to take. While choosing a book, he looked back to make sure that Adam was no longer concerned. When Vane believes he is safe, he takes out a spy camera that is only the size of a fingernail from his chef jacket pocket.

Vane attached the spy camera to the shelf level divider. Although the size is small but the quality of the image is presented in HD quality especially like this camera produced by Germany. After Vane picked up the two books, he sat down again in front of Adam.

"Just two books?" Adam thought Vane would pick up five books at once, because Vane seemed like a smart woman.

"Two, Pah" replied Vane.

Vane again reached into his pants pocket to pick up a sound eavesdropping device and stick it under the sofa. If Vane sticks it to the table, she's afraid it'll be known to her whereabouts when the maid cleans the table.

Okay Van, one more task, Inner Vane.

Vane stared intently at the black metal pen with a gold handle lying on the table and he guessed for sure it was a pen priced above five million. Vane placed the slide of one of his books next to the pen and deliberately dropped the pen to the floor.

"Oh Pah, sorry Vane. Let Vane take it." Vane got up from the sofa as Adam was about to stand up to pick up his pen that rolled down to the floor a little far from where he was sitting.

Vane walked towards the pen and crouched down to grab the thing. With a flash, Vane swapped Adam's pen for the pen that Vane had taken out while he was walking.

Vane handed him the pen he had exchanged. Not an indiscriminate pen, the pen has a hidden camera in the body of the pen with AVI format so that if Adam uses the pen, Vane can see what the contents of the document his father-in-law has.

"thank you. How are you and Rey?"adam said as he received the pen.

"We're both good. Sorry Pah, if we both rarely see papah, because Rey is busy taking care of her work" said Vane.

Adam smiled at how kind and caring his daughter-in-law was.

"If he wasn't busy, he probably wouldn't want to see me" Adam replied in a cold tone.

"I know that my relationship with Rey is not good. Mom told me everything. But papah must be sure behind Rey's indifference, he was very fond of papah" said Vane.

"May"tandas Adam.

"Jeez, Vane forgot Vane's destination was here." Vane patted his forehead and put on a guilty expression.

"What's wrong?"

"Mamah asked Vane to ask Papah to go to the dining room. Mamah has cooked papah's favorite French food. It was Vane who taught" Vane explained.

"Oh yeah? Then let's go down" Adam said enthusiastically.

The two left the library and went down the stairs to the dining room. Vane could not join her for a meal with her in-laws, as Rey would have been waiting for her for dinner since the clock showed seven in over ten minutes. Vane quickly leaves Adam's house after successfully carrying out his first assignment.

"You've been chased by demons?"rey asked when he saw his wife.

"No. I've finished pushing the vane" replied the original Vane.

Rey chuckles at Vane's original answer. It turns out that women as smart as Vane can also joke.

"I went to the room first to take a shower. See you in dinner time." Vane leaves Rey unwilling to continue their conversation.

After 45 minutes Vane finally came out of the room and walked to the dining room. There Rey was already sitting waiting for him in a pretty good mood. Vane immediately sat down in his usual place. And today's menu seems a bit special with a menu of honey-flavored roasted chicken, lemon salad chikpea, and french toast.

Looking at Vane's confused expression, Rey immediately said, "I ordered the meal on purpose because I haven't eaten a western for a long time and I wanted to celebrate for the smooth running of the meeting."

Vane ooh ria without sound but his mouth formed a perfect round. And finally the two of them ate quietly without any argument.

"Where are you from?"ask Rey after eating.

"Your mother's house."

Rey was startled and immediately glared, "Ngapain?"

"Gold eat fish.yes visit dong in-laws. Mamah you asked me to teach her to cook French food" Vane explained.

"But you don't like western food" Rey said confusedly.

"Food is for your papah" signs Vane sighing harshly.

"You met papah?"ask Rey.

Vane stopped the movement of his glass that was halfway to his mouth. Okay last night Rey said that the topic of conversation about her papa was off-LIMITS. And now he's asking about his papa. If Rey can break the deal then Vane can do it too.

"Yaps. And he asked you for news. He seems to miss you. Why don't you go see him" said Vane and continued drinking.

Rey was silent to Vane's words, there was a sense of wanting to meet his papa but his sense of disappointment and ego was too high into the sky. If he is remembering his papa or even misses him somehow the shadow of events that make Rey disappointed always appears suddenly.

"Rey."

"Hmmm..."

"How was your meeting?"

"Oh, my team and I agreed that the trailer would be released a week before the soundtrack. And the film will be released in early March" Rey explained with a happy expression.

Vane feels happy at last and fresh wind where Rey's career slowly improved after a scandal that almost destroyed Rey's career.

"Good luck." Vane simply gave the word before he brought the dirty dishes to the kitchen and as usual he asked Rey to clean the table if she did not want to listen to his nagging.

After dinner, Vane shut down access to his room as he was about to start his work tonight. He opened his laptop and put an earpiece on his ear. Vane also opened a computer program where he could see what was recorded by his spy camera and voice eavesdropping device.

Vidio from the camera he installed on the bookshelf only showed Adam just sitting while reading a book. Then the video from the pen camera only shows the writing of the biography of John Kennedy.

"Has he not started his job yet?" Vane felt confused by this one villain because he looked so relaxed. Unlike the criminals he knew, where they would always be visited by his men at any time every time.

"The time of acting evil is at its end anyway? It's strange. Which crazy person wants to go on holiday doing evil? If there is a new drug." Vane again issued his silly words while commenting on his papah-in-law.

"So he's Rey's wife's brother?" Jade had just lectured her son for the umpteenth time because he was still chasing after his ex-girlfriend.

"Yes. He said it himself." Steven was whimpering in pain as his father compressed a punched wound on his face.

Rius, who had been listening to the father and son, started to wonder, "Who is the name of the man?"

"Satria" Steven replied.

"Rius, why do you look so curious about the man since we met him at the supermarket?"jade asked turning to look at Rius.

"Just want to know" answered Rius flatly.

Feeling Rius has never been wrong in his life, he feels there is something strange when Steven's ex-girlfriend's husband stares at him and Jade before he takes his wife away while at the supermarket. There was something he might know about himself or maybe more.
