Between Love and Mission

Chapter 52

Vane awakens with a pounding heart and he takes a few minutes to realize his whereabouts. It was very cold, maybe it was late at night because Vane saw eleven o'clock in the evening. Vane saw that he was not wearing his uniform maybe there was already someone who replaced it with casual clothes.

He recalled that when he had just entered his papa room upon his return to capture Adam, he immediately fell unconscious. She heard faint papah and her two brothers calling her name and carrying him.

Slowly Vane sat his body and leaned his back against the bed rest. Now that Vane was fully aware, he was in his room. It means he's at his parents' house.

REYVANS. A name that meant nothing, then meant too much to him. She should have believed Bobi and Dika's words when they said that Rey would hurt her. Slowly Vane set her foot on the floor to the bathroom to wash her face with water.

Vane had just come out of the bathroom when the door of her room opened and Ana came in carrying a tray filled with a plate of food and a glass of water.

"You're sober? I thought you would wake up tomorrow morning" Ana said, chuckling.

"Yes if I want my body to be thinner dry because it does not eat all day. Running a mission made me tired" said Vane who was sitting on the sofa that Ana followed.

"You eat first, you take medicine. You are exhausted. It seems that before you go on your mission you forget to eat first" explained Ana giving a placemat containing several grains of medicine.

"I had no appetite at the time. All I had in mind was how I could complete the mission in less than three hours" said Vane, who was clutching a plate.

"You push yourself so much that you don't realize that all of those things are making you mentally depressed. What this has to do with the news about Rey and Clara."

Vane immediately turned his head and looked cynically at Ana. Vane is tired of hearing about Rey, now he realizes that he has been treated like an idiot. Maybe Rey never really loved him. Vane thinks once this mission is complete she can really live and be Rey's real wife.

"Not to worry about that big brother. Brother is immune to your cynical gaze. Finish your food and take medicine. Later Amel here bring you milk, brother wants to sleep. Poor baby sister. Good night" said Ana gently and kissed Vane on the forehead. Ana as an only child was very much expecting to have a sister. He loved Vane very much.

Ana has disappeared from his presence, now Vane is trying to spend a plate of dinner and take medicine well like a human.

Bobi punches Rey so steadily that Rey hours ago came to her muay thai studio to look for Vane. Bobi does not care about the reputation of Rey who is a celebrity, because she only cares about the condition of her best friend. It's been two days that Vane hasn't contacted him. And he felt very worried when he saw the news in the tabloids.

"Lo doesn't know himself. I should have been the same when I did not give Vane permission to marry you. Basic men don't know in the mouth. You think Vane is a girl? You can use as good as udel lo run out it you throw away at will. Just so you know, one punch from me is nothing compared to what you will receive from papah and his brothers."

After Bobi gives his presidential speech to Rey, he forcibly evicts Rey, allowing the man to try himself to figure out Vane's whereabouts. And now Rey is driving a car with a bad feeling. He had to ask who, who was indeed still willing to tell his wife whereabouts now. And the name Amel came to Rey's mind. He knows Amel's anger later, the woman will still let him meet with Vane.

Rey immediately grabbed her HP and called Amel. While Amel was stirring milk in the kitchen he made for Vane. Seeing the condition of Vane who came home in a state of fainting still wearing a complete BIN uniform makes Amel finally find out that Vane is part of BIN. He did not expect that the mission that Vane had just done that made him have to be trapped in a marriage like this.

Amel stopped the process of stirring the milk when he heard the HP ringing. He immediately grabbed his HP and was surprised to see Rey's name on the HP screen.

"Hello, it's Rey." Rey's voice came from across.

Amel feels very angry when he sees Rey's news with Clara. I think he wants to kill that guy right now.

"Yes." Yeah."

"Is Vane there?" Rey asked doubtfully.

"What would you do if she was here?"

"I want to talk with her."

Not unexpectedly Amel actually laughed, but his laughter sounded like the sound of ghostly laughter that would suffocate humans in horror films.

"If you have the guts, come here" Amel closed in a defiant tone.

Amel smiled cynically, he knew Rey would come here, and surely the three Wibowo family men would give a very special welcome. After the milk is finished, Amel takes her to Vane's room.

"Hi Van." Amel opened the door with a smile to his best friend.

He put a glass of milk on the table beside the mattress and sat down next to Vane.

"Sorry" said Amel who got a confused look from Vane.

"For what?"

"Gue did not know that you were a member of BIN, and I felt sick to see the state of you who fainted helpless plus the behavior of Rey who, shit! I feel like I'm gonna kill him now" Amel's whirls full of emotion.

Vane only chuckled in a lyrical tone like laughing at himself.

"Gue has to go home" said Vane about to get up.

"Where to go?"amel asked confused.

"My house is" replied Vane.

"This is also your home. You mean Rey's house?"amel said convincingly.

"Do you think that's a good idea?"amel continued with unblinking eyes.

"Gue needs to talk to him and solve this problem that might just be a misunderstanding."

"How can a husband cheat because of misunderstanding?"amel chuckled. Again he laughed at the stupidity of his friend. Maybe because his brain is tired after work catching criminals.

"Van, where are there men who tell me they're cheating? That's why this type of relationship is called cheating, because the wife never knows."

"Gue has to go home."

"Vane..."

"Mel, I need to do this" said Vane.

Vane knew that Amel was not satisfied with his decision, "Tadi Rey called. I think he's on the way. He can take you home."

"Rey is coming?"asked Vane surprised. She did not expect that Rey would come to her parents' house, which meant she had to be ready to see Rey's face battered.

Suddenly Amel walked towards the window of Vane's room which led directly to the front yard. Then he shouted, "Crazy. He's really here."

Vane follows Amel to the window. He sees Rey jumping down from her Ranger Rover and walking quickly towards home. Not long after that, he heard the bell ringing.

Rey felt super nervous on the way to her in-laws' house, but it was incomparable to when she rang the bell and anxiously waited until the door opened. And when he was about to hit the bell for the second time he saw his mother-in-law open the door.

Beautifully let Rey enter without saying, she just opened the door wide and then Rey took five steps into the house to see three men already standing next to her staring at her.

Rey took two punches on the right and left cheeks from Satria and Bima, then one punch in the stomach from Jatra. Rey never felt threatened like this. He should have calculated everything before starting anything. He forgets that in the Vane family there are three men who are ready to beat him up if he dares to hurt their beloved daughter.

"Are you satisfied to hit my husband? Does no one want to break his arms or legs? Or maybe his neck?" Vane said that while walking from the stairs towards the living room. His tone was flat but sounded cold and piercing.

Rey looked at his wife, her face pale as a sick person, her eyes red as if someone was crying, and now she felt more and more guilty towards his wife. He wants to pull Vane into his arms, kiss her on the forehead, and apologize again and again until Vane forgives him. But he must bury that desire if he doesn't want to if it's Vane who broke his neck. Something he should have accepted for all the mistakes he made.

Vane's brain was back in its original condition after he took a deep breath finally the word that came out of his mouth was, "I want to go home", finished saying it was Vane walking past Rey out of the house and towards the car.

At first Rey could only stare at Vane's back in confusion, but then she regained consciousness and immediately followed Vane. Amel signaled a headband to the men of the Wibowo family to let the couple go.

Rey knows that Vane is upset with her. All this time he never cared if a woman was annoyed at him. But today he had to think of a way to win Vane.

"Can we talk?"tanya Rey started the conversation.

Vane just turned his head giving a cold look then turned back to face forward.

"I'm sorry you had to see my picture with Clara. I accompanied him to the pediatrician that day. Clara's son Daren is born unwell, and Dani refuses to take responsibility. Clara had no one to ask for help, so she came to me and I couldn't refuse. I know that I should have told you about all of this before, but I think I'm going to solve this problem without involving you in it."

Vane just kept quiet listening to Rey's explanation. He would rather if Vane was cursing at him than silent, and that worried him.

"Do you still have feelings for Clara? I think if we'd better cut this relationship out if you still have a taste for Clara. I never want to compete with another woman just for a man. If you want me, I won't be a barrier between you and Clara and within 24 hours, I'll be gone from your life."

Hearing Vane's statement, Rey immediately panicked, "No, no, no... Please don't do that. I don't have any taste for Clara. Nothing at all."

Seeing that Vane still seemed hesitant, Rey tried to control her panic, "No other woman has ever crossed my mind since we got married. About Clara, I was just trying to help a friend. And I've asked Clara to sort things out. And I've given an ultimatum that he should clear my name within 48 hours, if he doesn't do that, then I'll have a press conference, I'll have a press conference, it doesn't matter if it destroys Dani's name."

You'd be offended because I'd rather put my ex-boyfriend first than you, and you'd likely leave me. And I don't know what I'm gonna do until it happens."

Vane did not react. It's not that he doesn't know what happened between Clara and Rey, after all he's seen all these messages on Rey's HP. But it's a matter of why Rey wasn't being honest with him.

"Can you say something?"ask Rey who still sounds worried.

"Is Clara's son okay?"reply Vane in a cold tone.

Rey nodded and Vane fell silent again.

"Vane, I'm sorry for everything." Rey sees Vane nodding and they sit in silence during the trip.

Vane turned towards Rey and saw Rey's left hand look red. Although the car is dark but the light from the street lighting can help Vane to see Rey's hand.

"What's your hand?"

"Huh?"ask Rey back.

Vane pointed to Rey's left knuckle. Rey couldn't possibly say that it was the result of a jotos fight with Dani last night.

"Oh.nothing"reply Rey.

Now is not the time to look to be a hero because it has managed to hit his opponent. Rey has to figure out how Vane can forgive her.

And Vane was also thinking about what would happen tomorrow morning after Adam's capture.
