Chapter 9: More Learning

The next thing on the list is the scoring system. The post provided general information about the different tiers that cultivators used in 'Eternal Cultivation'.

There are 4 values that are known to the public to date. They are Mortal, Earth, Heaven, and Eternal. Mortal was the lowest value, and Immortal was the highest.

This scoring system was applied to various items, formations, artifacts, pills, cultivation methods, techniques, and even the talents of a cultivator himself.

"Huh? Talent too? But my talent is 'God'. Is the existence of the God level not yet known to the public?"

He browsed through the comments but saw nothing about the value of Gods. But there are some comments that say that they know of a higher class, only that they do not know its name.

"That must be the level of a God. There's no way I'm the only person who has the level of a God, right? Someone else must have it. They must have been quiet about it for a reason."

Alex decided not to reveal anything about it either.

Alex remembers there was no value to the pill, but he may have been wrong about it. No one in the comments was against the poster, so he was probably wrong.

The last thing he decided to look at was about alchemy itself. This game does not allow recording, so most of what is written here is just hearsay.

They say alchemy is similar to cooking. You take a pot, light a fire under it, and put all the ingredients in at any given time. You keep the temperature, and time and pills will form at the end.

Of course it's not that simple. You also need to know the alchemy technique to properly mix all the Qi and energy in the ingredients so as not to burn them, or in worse cases, blow them up.

Once you do that, a pill will form.

Alex decides to check what pills are usually sold, but finding that information is not helpful at this time because he does not know what the pills are or their function.

“It looks like I will check it out after I learn more in the game.”

After checking a few more things on the forum, he logged into the game.

Alex opened his eyes in his little cottage. It was almost 4pm, so he sat down and decided to take a look at the various items he had obtained from Elder Lang.

There are 6 new items in inventory now.The first 2 items are clothes. He decided to change into a sect outfit.

He was now wearing a light green robe with a bronze coating on his side. He then looked at the other 4 items. One such item is a token for the library.

the other 3 looked like a rectangular piece of paper, unlike the paper he had written his answer on during the entrance test.

The system seems to call it a talisman. He took out one of the amulets and decided to read it. The talisman had the same unreadable squiggly lines as those that appeared on the talisman where he wrote his answer.

The Hong Wu Sect had 6 mountains beneath it. Of the 6, the one closest to the gate was the outer disciple mountain.

The mountain range adjacent to the outer disciple mountain was the inner disciple mountain on the left, and the core disciple mountain on the right.

Across the mountain of Outer Disciple was the mountain where the sect leader lived. The sect leader's mountain was surrounded by two other mountains that were named alchemy gardens.

In the middle of the six mountains was a valley, which was the main place of the sect. This was where the sect disciples went to study, train, make pills, buy pills, etc. The older ones also lived in the valley.

“Wah, do I have to walk constantly? Up and down the mountain will take a lot of time.”

He was worried about how much time he would waste just by taking a walk around the sect.

He returned the map talisman and took out another talisman. This was the sect's rule book.

There are 4 rules for outer sect disciples.

The outer sect disciples were not allowed to visit the inner sect mountain and core disciples without the strict permission of the Elders. If they were found wandering on another mountain, they would be punished accordingly.

The outer sect disciples were not allowed to go to the forbidden alchemy garden and the sect leader mountain. If they were found near them, they would be expelled immediately.

The outer sect disciples had to earn at least 20 contribution points a week from the sect. If it is less than that, they will be expelled.

Lastly, outer sect disciples would only be allowed to do alchemy at night, when inner sect disciples and core disciples would not be deterred.

"Wait, so I can't do alchemy at all during the day?" he's surprised. He wanted to earn money by making pills, but if he could only do it at night, when would he sleep?

"Oh wait, they say you sleep outside playing games at night. Maybe this won't be a problem at all."

He worried for a moment before sighing in relief. Another thing that makes him confused is the mention of ‘point contribution’.

"What are contribution points? If I were to mention his name, it would definitely be the points I earned from contributing to the sect. But what could an outer sect disciple who was considered a contribution do? I hope I don't have to sweep and choose to take out the trash."

There were a few other things in the handbook that mentioned how everything in the sect required contribution points, and one would even starve without it.

He decided he would study it once he went to the valley of the sect.
