Chapter 13:Library

“Remember, you have 1 hour to search for any book you want. After 1 hour has passed, you must go out. If you stay there for more than an hour, you'll be fined 10 contribution points for every 10 extra minutes you spend there."

The elder gave him a final warning before sending him in.

Alex walked into the library and was immediately amazed. The number of books there is incredible. There were dozens of shelves that each contained at least a thousand books.

Alex was surprised to see the many different books in the library. "Are people really reading all this?" he wonders. He saw the first book on the shelf closest to him.

His name is [Sleeping Grasshopper Sabit]. He read a little to find out what it was about. [Sleeping Mantis Scythe] was a mortal rank battle technique specially created for sickle users.

This technique can only be used if a person has a sickle. Alex was surprised to even find a fighting technique here. He assumed that there would only be Alchemy-related techniques in the library of Hong Wu Sect.

He returned the first book to its place and checked the second book. The second book is also [Sleeping Mantis Scythe].

“Hah... what happened?” he was a little surprised. He looked at the third book, and it was still the [Sleeping Mantis Scythe].

The fourth, fifth, to twelfth are all [Sleeping Mantis Scythe].

It was only on the thirteenth that he discovered a new book titled [Flickering Leopard]. This was a mortal level technique that could make a cultivator run as fast as a leopard in a short period of time.

Again there are 12 different [Flickering Leopard] books in the library. He finally understood why it happened.

“Are there no alchemy techniques here? Why are all books related to fighting?” he wonders. He wanted to study alchemy, but somehow he could only find fighting techniques in the library.

The technique was difficult, and not very useful for Alex. It was merely a luxurious pill-making method, and did not really help the entire alchemy itself.

He left the technique in its place and walked around the 2nd floor searching for another different alchemy technique. He found a few others, but most of them formed pills or increased their efficiency at the last second. Although it looked promising, everything was a mortal level technique, so Alex missed it.

Finally, while walking to the third floor, he saw his first earth level technique. Indeed it was a battle technique, he was still happy to see an earth level technique after a series of mortal level techniques.

He walked around the third floor and discovered a very strange technique. This technique was a mortal level technique, but, it was not a battle technique or a technique related to alchemy. It was actually a formation building technique.

He read it with interest. That formation was called the [Qi Gathering Formation]. Its function was to gather the Qi from the spirit stones placed within the formation into one place and make it much faster for cultivators to absorb the qi within.

Alex liked the idea of having a formation technique, but he needed to obtain an alchemy technique first.

“I have to earn a lot of contribution points and come back to pick up these books,” he said to himself. He was looking for another book.

He found another unusual book. This time it was an artifact purification technique. Even though the artifacts sold as well as pills in the outside world, Alex still chose the alchemy book today.

After obtaining an alchemy technique, and getting into a sect focused on alchemy, it would be a joke if he decided to study artifact refining techniques here.

He couldn't find any good techniques on the third floor, so he went up to the fourth floor. This was the last floor he was allowed to enter. If he did not find any good techniques here, he would have to leave empty-handed.

His hour time was running out, so he hurriedly started looking for a good alchemy technique. Most, if not all, of the techniques on the fourth floor were earth level techniques, so he did not have to worry about obtaining low level techniques.

He searched and searched, but found none that satisfied him. Finally, he found one, but it was a mortal level technique. He would instinctively miss it, but he stopped.

It was a mortal level technique, but the reason why Alex was interested was simple. He read the name of his technique,

"The Fire Mastery Sacred Scriptures. Mortal Level. Growth." That'sthat's all. Similar to the incredible [Alchemy God Knowledge] mortal level technique, this was also a Growth type technique.
