Chapter 15: Taking the Mission

The tasks in the contribution room were mostly given by sects, inner sect disciples, or core disciples. There is not a single task that gives more than 10 points across the board.

After looking at the different tasks, Alex finds that there are only 2 tasks that really interest him. The first was to kill and bring back some monster corpses, along with other objects he found. The second was to be the help of an alchemist.

The first one gives points depending on how strong the monster is. The second is said to give points per hour.

He wanted to take both. He looked around to see if there was anyone he could ask to take the mission. To his surprise, there was no one.

“Hah... Then, how can I carry out its mission?” he wonders. He looked around to see what the other students were doing. Most of them just stood near the board doing nothing.

After a while, they would leave, which made Alex even more confused.

He stopped one of the disciples who was about to leave, and asked them, saying,

The student looked back, and asked in confusion, “is this your first time?”

“Yes, I just joined the sect today,” Alex replied without hesitation.

Alex looked towards the board once again, and this time saw some rectangular pieces at the bottom of the board.

"Is that an indentation for the signboard?" he thinks. He walked over to the one that was open and put his signboard there. Suddenly, a panel appeared in front of him with all the different tasks available on the board.

However, for some reason, none of the 2 tasks he wanted to take on were on the to-do list. "What the hell is going on?" he wonders.

He searched for a few more minutes, but he was still unable to find it. Confused he decided to ask someone again.

He stopped a female disciple who had just left and asked,

"Sister, may I ask you a question?"

The girl seemed to be an outer sect disciple but had an aura of elegance. She did not seem much older than him but looked very mature to a child her age.

“What do you want to ask junior sister?” she asked.

"Look, I wanted to take those 2 missions, but I couldn't find it anywhere when I put my sign on the engraving. Can you tell me what's wrong?" he asked while pointing at the 2 missions he wanted to take.

“Hmm...” he turned to see what 2 missions he wanted to take. When he finally saw the two tasks, he chuckled.

“Of course, you will not find it, junior brother, after all, it is a permanent mission.” He said as if the information he had just given was fact.

"The germ?" he looks confused.

“I'm new to this sect, so I don't know what it means, sister.” She said.

"Oh I'm sorry. Permanent missions mean anyone can earn points from it, and you don't have to take missions here. Usually the mission is not determined by the point. For example, you could just go to the sect market, a few minutes from here, and sell the monster corpses directly. "

Alex stood there and looked at the board once more. "So I don't need to take these two missions huh. Then do I have to take the others?"

He started to check the mission board once again. Finally, something caught his attention.

"Fruit dwarf berries? Isn't that what I got from the eastern forest?" he quickly opened his inventory to check. The Dwarf Berry was actually there.

"Alright then, I'll take this mission." He reassembled his signboard in the engraving of the mission board and quickly navigated many missions to find this particular mission.

The signboard shone slightly to signify that the mission had been accepted. Alex looks back at the board and finds his mission no longer there.

He looked at his signboard, it seemed like something was added to it. He focused slightly on the signboard, and a new set of information emerged.

The mountain was to the southwest of its current place. He walked out of the contribution hall towards the brightly lit sect path. He looked around in amazement at how good everything was.

After making sure everything was ready, he walked towards the mountain of inner sect disciples.
