*Cruel and Unpolite Robbers*
Stealing and robbing back then was common. Only a small percentage of people never do it. Robbers are not only targeting property and objects, but also people who are robbed. Robbers used to make people who had been robbed into captives and slaves.
At that time the behavior of the Arabs was very cruel, to the extent of humanity. Their own daughters they killed. Some are buried alive into the ground, some are placed in barrels and launched from a high place. They are ashamed to have a daughter.
They also love to torture animals. If a man dies, his family ties the camel to the grave and does not feed and drink until the camel dies. They thought that the camel would become the mount of the dead.
The captured enemy was treated very cruelly. They used to tie the enemy to a horse and let the horse run so that the tied man was dragged to death. The ears or nose of the defeated enemy is made into a necklace, and the skull is used as a place to drink wine.
Jahiliyah people also do not know manners, They used to go around the Kaaba without wearing clothes.
That was the custom of the Arabs at the time.
They are a nation that advanced its trade, good at making tools, making medicine, astronomers, and proficient in poetry. But they also have bad habits.
*Eating a Animal Carcass*
No eating or drinking is prohibited. All kinds of animals can be eaten. Dead animals are slashed in their flesh, burned, and eaten. They also like to drink blood, animals, and frozen blood food.
*Muthalib*
One day, Hashim went to trade for Sham. When passing through Yathrib, (later called Medina), Hashim saw a fine and distinguished woman.
"Who is that woman?" hashem asked the people of Yathrib.
"He is Salma bint Amr."
"His husband is gone. She's a widow now."
Hearing that, Hashim proposed to Salma and Salma accepted. They then married. Hashim stayed in Yathrib for some time. When Salma was pregnant, Hashim continued his business. However, that was the last time Salma saw her husband because Hashim never returned. He died in Palestine.
Salma gave birth to a son who was later named Syaibah. Meanwhile, after the death of Hashim, his position as leader of the people of Mecca was held by Hashim's brother named Al Muttalib.
Al Muttalib was also a distinguished man who was loved by the inhabitants of Mecca. The Quraysh dubbed him Al Fayyadh, which means the Benefactor.
One day, he heard that Shaybah, his nephew who lived in Yathrib, was growing up a teenager.
"I must see him" thought Al Muttalib,
"he's my brother's son. His father used to be the ruler of Mecca, so he had to go home to continue his father's rule in my place."
"This boy really looks like Hashim."
"Let's go with Uncle to Mecca" hugged Al Muttalib.
"But if you don't let me go, I'll stay here" replied the Lord
*Shaibah*
The name Syaibah was given because there was white hair (nuban) on his head since he was a child. In addition to Shaybah, Hashim had four sons and five daughters living in Mecca.
*ABDUL MUTTALIB*
"No. I won't let him go" Salma replied.
"He is my only child. It was his face that always reminded me of his father's face".
"I also love Hashim" replied Al Muttalib,
"not only me, but the people of Mecca loved him too. They would be delighted to welcome the son of Hashim. As soon as I saw the face of this child, my love arose for him. It was as if I saw Hashim come back to life and stand before me.
Let me take him away. Mecca is his kingdom
hnya and Mecca were sacred lands loved by the entire Arab nation. Isn't it appropriate for your son to go there and continue his father's reign?".
Salma looked at Shaybah with teary eyes. His heart wanted that only son to stay by his side. However, he knew the future of Shaybah not in Yathrib, but in Mecca. Finally, he nodded, "Alright, I'll let him go."
Al-Muttalib took his nephew home. He sat riding a camel behind his uncle.
When they arrived in Mecca, the people thought that the child sitting behind Al Muttalib was his slave.
"Abdul Muttalib (Slave of Al Muttalib)! Abdul Muttalib!" call them to Shaybah.
"Buck you! He's not my slave, he's my brother's son, Hashim!"
However, people have already called it so that eventually the name of Shaybah was forgotten. After that, he was known as Abdul Muttalib. He would later become the grandfather of Prophet Muhammad.
