ACTS OF APOSTLE
chapter 2

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى آلِ مُحَمد

*The ancestors of the Prophet Muhammad *

One of the ancestors of the Prophet Muhammad was named Hashim bin Abdul Manaf. He is a community leader and an affluent person. The people of Mecca obeyed and respected him.

"O people of Mecca, I divide your journey by season. If winter comes, go trade to warm Yemen. If it's summer, it's your turn to go to the cool Sham!" the decision of Hashim.

Hashim was loved more by the people of Mecca because in a difficult dry season, he had brought food supplies from far away. At that time, food was hard to come by.

"Thank you, Hasyim! You helped us with this food!" the people of Mecca.

Under the leadership of the Hashim, Mecca developed into a prosperous trading center. The markets were established as trading places for trade caravans that came and went alternately, both in summer and in winter. So if the Meccans traded, no other party could rival them.

However, in addition to these great advances, Arab society also suffered tremendous setbacks. That is why they are dubbed the jahiliah community aka people who are overwhelmed with stupidity. That is why Allah sent His last apostle in this place.

*Entertainment Part*

Some government offices in Mecca include:

_Hijabah_ : Ka'bah key holder,

_Siqayah_ : Provider of water and food for the pilgrims,

_Rifadah_: Organize the distribution of funds from the rich for the poor, _Qiyadah_: Organize the affairs of war.

*Trust Superstition*

"Oh, no! The bird flew to the left! I'll definitely get hit by shit!" as someone said, the man happened to see a bird flying over his head turn to the left. Throughout the day, he became moody because he believed that he was unlucky even though he did not know what kind of misfortune would befall him.

The Arabs in the jahiliyah period were very superstitious. For example, they believe that if the bird they see flies to the left, bad luck will befall them. Conversely if the bird happens to fly to the right, good fortune will come. This kind of belief is called At Tathayyur

Moreover, they believed that if a person died, his spirit would become a bird. They also believe that in the human stomach there is a snake. It is this snake that bites inside the stomach so that people feel hungry.

There is a lot of similar stupidity that they show. They were also very obedient to worship statues. If they ask for help from idols, they do not hesitate to sacrifice livestock and put their blood on the body of the idol. Even they sometimes to the heart of sacrificing their own children to hope for idolatry.

In addition to doing these stupidities, they still do a lot of destructive things.

*The Beginning of Idolatry*

The beginning of idolatry in Mecca, when a man named Amar bin Luhay brought a large idol named Hubal which he bought from the Sham area. In Mecca, the idol of Hubal was placed in the Kaaba and told people to come worship him.

Conquering Mecca by the Prophet Muhammad. The Kaaba was filled with three hundred and sixty idols made of stone, wood, silver, and even gold.

*Gambar Drunk and Gambling*

The Arabs at that time were very fond of drinking wine. Almost everyone is a drinker except a few who are not.

The servants came to bring trays and bottles of drink. People come together laughing.

The dancers were greeted by applause and cheers. When the drink began to make them drunk, someone again exclaimed, "Bring a gambling device here!"

People also brought gambling tools in the form of wooden slats and a leather bag. Some camels were cut off, the losers gambled to have to pay the camels. In addition to gambling by cutting camels, they also gamble in various ways.

Thus drinking while gambling was a habit that was very popular with the Arabs at that time. In fact, after the Prophet Muhammad SAW taught Islam, there are still many new followers of Islam who still like to drink wine until the commandment of Allah gradually prohibits people from drinking liquor.

*barm*

The game of cutting camels is the most popular gambling of the Jahiliyah Arabs. The wooden slats are shuffled in a bag and distributed. The person who gets the empty vote is declared defeated and must pay the camel that was cut. Camel meat was then distributed to the poor. People who do not like this kind of gambling are seen as a miser, commonly called barm
