ACTS OF APOSTLE
chapter 18

*Top*

His name was Khadijah bint Khuwalid. Her figure is beautiful and graceful. After his father and mother died, the Khadijah brothers shared their wealth. However, Khadija was aware that wealth could make people live idle and spoiled.

He was endowed with extraordinary intelligence and the power of attitude to overcome the temptations of possessions. Therefore, Khadija decided to build his own wealth armed with the legacy of his parents.

Not long after, Khadijah had proven that even if he did not get the inheritance, he was able to get the wealth from his own efforts.

With his wealth, Khadijah helped the poor, widows, orphans, and the disabled. If there was a girl who could not afford it, Khadijah married her and gave her dowry. Khadijah is gentle and friendly. Although he became the supreme leader in running the family business after his father's death, he also wanted to accept the advice of others. Khadijah did not like the distance between superiors and subordinates. He considers subordinates as co-workers who deserve respect.

Khadijah himself always stayed at home. Therefore, he usually asks for the help of an agent, if a caravan is being prepared to go abroad. The person being asked for help is responsible for bringing his merchandise to be sold to foreign markets. Khadijah very carefully chose an agent. He is also very good at planning the departure time of the caravan and its destination because the goods will sell quickly at the right time and place.

So successful was Khadijah as a merchant, that if a Quraysh caravan departed from Mecca, it is certain that more than half of it was Khadijah's trading property. It was like he had a golden touch. As if he were to touch the dust, this dust would turn "golden". Therefore the inhabitants of Mecca called him "Queen of Quraysh" or "Queen of Mecca".

If only wealth were to be the measure, of course Allah ⁇ HitthiHitthiHittsi will not make Khadijah *(later)* as the wife of a rosary. There must have been another more important trait that made him worth the Prophet Muhammad.

Notation

A trading caravan at that time was like a moving village. Animal load number 1000 to 2500 tail and accompanied by one hundred to three hundred people. Caravans need good organization, great cost, and enough courage. If there are robbers, all members of the caravan must dare to save their lives to defend the treasure they carry.

*Holy Woman*

Khadijah had an uncle named Waraqah ibn Naufal. Waraqah was Khadijah's oldest relative. He strongly condemns the Arab custom of Jahiliah who worship idols so that it deviates far from what Prophet Abraham taught. Waraqah himself is a faithful and righteous servant of Allah ⁇ HitthillHitthi. He never drank and gambled. He is generous towards the poor who need his help.

Khadija was greatly influenced by the thought of Waraqah bin Naufal. Khadijah also hated idols and statues.

If you hear of a girl, you will be buried alive. Waraqah and Khadijah will soon meet the father and prevent his actions. If poverty were the reason for the plot, Khadijah and Waraqah would buy the child and raise him like a real child.

Many times some time after that, the father of the child regrets his actions and takes his daughter back. Waraqah and Khadijah will make sure that the child will be cared for properly and loved, after which he will allow the father to bring his son back home.

The great character of Khadijah, polite, gentle and full of example makes everyone call it also as *Khadija At Thahirah* or holy Khadijah.

For the first time in the Arab nation a woman was called that, whereas the Arabs in the days of Jahiliah were very glorifying men and demeaning women.
