Today Taufiq wants to consult again with a doctor who has successfully handled the case of dozens of children who suffer from the same disease as his son. Taufiq will never give up on finding out what the disease is and how to treat it so that his son recovers and no longer feels pain. All means will be taken by Taufiq in order to see his son healthy again.
Every Friday, Taufiq and Cinta and their two sons will visit an orphanage in Singapore to pray for Will's recovery. Taufiq and Cinta shared the money with the poor, orphaned children and nursing homes and some children with the same disease, Love will help them to finance their treatment until they recover completely.
Every night Love and Taufiq spend more time praying for the healing of the child. They also often teach near Will. Pram and Jay, for some reason since they lived in Singapore they are no longer fighting, they are no longer naughty or ignorant. The two of them were always there for Will, maybe they also felt the pain that Will felt. The three of them were very compat especially Pram, he always tried so that his brother could smile continuously. Even though they are small but they are all genius children different from others, they understand what their parents say. And Love is so grateful for that. Every time there are trials and trials that come and go, at that time God gives happiness for them to strengthen each other.
Now Taufiq is in the room with a doctor who turns out he is also a Muslim and Taufiq is grateful for that.
Taufiq: Doc, how many percent of my children can recover? (asked Taufiq in a sad tone)
Doctor: You may know that blood cancer or leukemia is a deadly disease with very painful and long-lasting treatment. If a number of adults only many who give up until finally died, let alone children who are still small. Of course they are not strong enough to withstand the pain of the disease and treatment of leukemia.
However, now it turns out not so because as the times develop, the current level of resistance to cure children against blood cancer at the age of 0-5 years reaches 80-85 percent. The chance is much higher than the chance of recovery in adults who are only 60 percent. This is because the severity of cancer cells in children is lower than adults.
Blood cancer experienced by adults is known to be more easily severe because it occupies older tissue and interacts a lot with the surrounding environment, such as pollution. Although the stages of treatment of leukemia in children and adults are the same, it turns out the results of treatment will be different. In acute leukemia cases, children have a potential cure of up to 75 percent and a life expectancy of more than 5 years.
Indeed, there are many differences in the case of leukemia that occurs in children with adults. First, both childhood and adult cancers are differentiated genotypically and phenotypically. Genotype means cancer that occurs due to cell mutations in the body and congenital results from birth. While the phenotypic factor is a gene factor and the environment that makes the cancer appear in the body. Second, there are differences in the body's physiological factors and how often the body is exposed to or affected by disease. While the third is the treatment of leukemia in children with different adults.
Another difference is based on biological. Child and adult cancers are differentiated based on the type of cancer growing. Almost all cases of cancer experienced by adults are carcinomas that grow in epithelial tissue, such as prostate cancer, breast cancer, uterine cancer, and cervical cancer. Whereas in childhood cancer, cancer that occurs is sarcoma, which grows in young or embryonal tissue in the body, such as nerve tissue, bone, lymphoma glands, and muscle.
Treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation are more effective for treating sarcomas that occur in children, especially if they grow on young tissue. It is still unclear what causes the treatment to be more successful to deal with sarcoma type cancer. However, until now it was proven that treatment that occurs in childhood cancer (eg leukemia), does not result in embryonic cells or young cells die. Treatment also causes ‘ premature aging’ normal cells, when this happens normal cells will regenerate cells quickly to replace cells that have been damaged.
Although childhood cancer and adult cancer are the same type of cancer, namely leukemia or blood cancer and given the same treatment stages, the results of treatment will be different. Treatment given to children who have acute leukemia, 75 percent have the potential to recover and survive 5 years. While in adults produce an average survival time of less than 5 years and only occurs in 20-30 percent of the total cases. It can be concluded that there are differences such as molecular distribution, cytogenetics, and immunity in leukemia that occur in children and adults.
So, if you have a child who has leukemia, you must be optimistic and eager for his recovery. The important thing is that you continue to pray and do not show your sadness in front of the child because it will make the child also follow sad. Keep praying and ask for healing to the almighty because the doctor can only try and God is the one who determines what the outcome will be. But in your child's case, God willing it can still be healed.
Taufiq: Thank goodness then, thank you doc. Now I can be optimistic again because honestly I do not bother to lose my son.
Doctor: Yes I understand because no parent can afford to lose a son or daughter.
Taufiq: Then, please excuse me doc. Thanks again for the explanation.
Doctor: It is the same.
After that Taufiq came out of the doctor's room with a slightly cheerful face because the child had a very big hope to get well soon. Taufiq will continue to pray for Will's recovery.
