Today Taufiq wants to consult again with a doctor who has successfully handled the case of dozens of children who suffer from the same disease as his son. Every Friday, Taufiq and Cinta and their two sons will visit an orphanage in Singapore to pray for Will's recovery. Doctor: You may know that blood cancer or leukemia is a deadly disease with very painful and long-lasting treatment. Of course they are not strong enough to withstand the pain of the disease and treatment of leukemia.

However, now it turns out not so because as the times develop, the current level of resistance to cure children against blood cancer at the age of 0-5 years reaches 80-85 percent. The chance is much higher than the chance of recovery in adults who are only 60 percent. This is because the severity of cancer cells in children is lower than adults.

Blood cancer experienced by adults is known to be more easily severe because it occupies older tissue and interacts a lot with the surrounding environment, such as pollution. Although the stages of treatment of leukemia in children and adults are the same, it turns out the results of treatment will be different. In acute leukemia cases, children have a potential cure of up to 75 percent and a life expectancy of more than 5 years.

Indeed, there are many differences in the case of leukemia that occurs in children with adults. First, both childhood and adult cancers are differentiated genotypically and phenotypically. Genotype means cancer that occurs due to cell mutations in the body and congenital results from birth. While the phenotypic factor is a gene factor and the environment that makes the cancer appear in the body. Second, there are differences in the body's physiological factors and how often the body is exposed to or affected by disease. While the third is the treatment of leukemia in children with different adults.

Another difference is based on biological. Child and adult cancers are differentiated based on the type of cancer growing. Almost all cases of cancer experienced by adults are carcinomas that grow in epithelial tissue, such as prostate cancer, breast cancer, uterine cancer, and cervical cancer. Whereas in childhood cancer, cancer that occurs is sarcoma, which grows in young or embryonal tissue in the body, such as nerve tissue, bone, lymphoma glands, and muscle.

Treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation are more effective for treating sarcomas that occur in children, especially if they grow on young tissue. It is still unclear what causes the treatment to be more successful to deal with sarcoma type cancer. However, until now it was proven that treatment that occurs in childhood cancer (eg leukemia), does not result in embryonic cells or young cells die. Treatment also causes ‘ premature aging’ normal cells, when this happens normal cells will regenerate cells quickly to replace cells that have been damaged.

Although childhood cancer and adult cancer are the same type of cancer, namely leukemia or blood cancer and given the same treatment stages, the results of treatment will be different. Treatment given to children who have acute leukemia, 75 percent have the potential to recover and survive 5 years. While in adults produce an average survival time of less than 5 years and only occurs in 20-30 percent of the total cases. It can be concluded that there are differences such as molecular distribution, cytogenetics, and immunity in leukemia that occur in children and adults.

So, if you have a child who has leukemia, you must be optimistic and eager for his recovery. Keep praying and ask for healing to the almighty because the doctor can only try and God is the one who determines what the outcome will be.
