The Drought that Rained

Yudha was in the examination room. He sat down at the doctor's desk waiting for Rahma to be examined. The man was really restless looking at every clock that was ticking. Waiting for the news he will receive.

‘I have prayed and tried my best as a human being. But we can only hope for the best.’

Yudha saw the doctor continue to shift the trans V USG device. But he saw a different doctor's face. It was clear that he felt anxious, because there was no more movement on the screen, let alone the heartbeat that he used to hear when they were checking.

“Where doc, why isn't my baby moving from last night?” ask Rahma to panic.

“If you feel from last night, you should be able to come here faster,” replied the doctor inexhaustibly.

“But my baby is fine right?” the woman kept pressing. The doctor only smiled as he looked forced. “Propay Yes, Bu?”

“What's the news, Doc? Please don't twist. I was very worried about the condition of my son ..” Rahma's eyes condensed imagining the worst possibility.

“Propay yes, Mom. Later the doctor will explain,” said the nurse responded.

The doctor did not respond to Rahma's question too far because he did not have the heart to say it from his own mouth. He preferred to approach Yudha and take her to a different room. That is what he did because men were always more able to listen to the most bitter reality than women.

“We talk elsewhere yes, Mr.”

“Good, Doc.”

“Mari follow me.”

Yudha came out of the room, followed the doctor to another room.

“Please sit,” he said after the doctor had preceded.

“Without the doctor saying, actually I already know,” Yudha said after a while. He said so that the doctor should not hesitate to say this news.

“I've prepared heart from far away. Because my wife's condition is getting worse. He always complains of pain.”

“Alright, if you have prepared the heart,” said the doctor with sangt iba. “I added a little yes, sir. Before you came here, the possibility of the baby was no longer there. Because Rahma's mother admitted there was no movement from last night.”

“He always has been.” Yudha.

“Maybe he has a bad feeling because he has been sick too often or has another reason so that the mother is always late to say it, Sir?”

“But as far as I know, the surroundings are excellent. Always supporting her, never confining her to doing anything,” Yudha replied shortly after.

“I am so sorry for the disaster that happened, sir. Hopefully in the future, the mother will be more careful again if re-awarded the next pregnancy. And for the continuation, for the safety of Mother Rahma too, we will immediately perform fetal removal surgery. So I ask Mr. Yudha to take care of all these requirements. Fill in his data and sign the approval document.” The doctor handed him a few pieces of paper in front of him.

Yudha's hands trembled looking at the sheet of paper in front of her. Every number he saw was getting bigger. He had lost the most precious thing in his life today.

The operation was completed without Rahma's knowledge. The woman was still in shock after the operation was completed. The baby was taken out and wrapped in a white cloth.

A few tens of minutes ago, Rahma was approached for an anesthetic so that the woman was unaware of the surgery.

It was only a few hours later, when the dope had run out, Rahma realized and immediately hysterical. The woman fainted when she found out her womb was empty and heard her son was gone.

The atmosphere also grew even more excited when Nely learned of this bad news. The woman grew increasingly angry and again berated her daughter-in-law who just silently received all kinds of treatment.

Yudha just resigned. It's free to make out to him. For, no matter how he explains, it will not be well in the brain of his foolish and blunt mother-in-law.

“Love you, my grandson is not safe. Now you have no reason to keep my child, yes ‘kan?” tuding Nely at the funeral will be held.

“No father is happy to see his son go. Everyone here is sad, especially me. But how else, God's life, maybe He wants to take it back. No one can escape this reality. We cannot do anything,” Yudha replied so patiently.

“Yeah, please take Mom to Rahma's room first let her be calmer,” Yudha suggested. Because of the unpleasant conversation that is mostly cornered this becomes the center of attention.

“Bu, this can be discussed later, this is there are many people.” Ilyas approached him and pulled his wife from there. “Shame, Mom. Shy.”

“Detach, Yah!” Nely brushed off the hand of her husband who pulled her by force. The two had a chance to clash their mouths before Nely was forced to obey the orders of her husband.

By the time the sun had crept up, Yudha headed to the TPU. She carried and tortured her own baby with tears.

“That's patient yes, Nak.” Umi rubbed his son's back when the tomb was perfectly closed.

“Sad is fine, but don't overdo it,” Abah said. "Every living thing will die" he added.

“Umi same Abah go home first yes, son,” say goodbye Umi Ros and Abah precede it.

“We too, Sir. We are very sorry, for the death of the future son of the Father,” said one of the people who participated in the service to TPU.

“May all families be given patience and fortitude,” another said.

Yudha was silent to hear all those who said condolences to her. There was a lot of pressure that he had been damming so that it made his wound deeper. Unknown has taken all his desire to live more meaningful.

Lately, there is no longer any desire to make out what else kisses like a husband does to his wife. What he hopes for, the farther, the more lost, unguided and unobtainable. In his heart he thought, why didn't he just die?

“Bang, it's afternoon, we're home. Already want rain too,” invite Alif to the man who is still bowing deeply in front of the tomb, as if he was spilling his complaints on the no longer alive.

“After.”

“It's almost dark,” Alif back added.

“Yes I know,” replied Yudha. “You who don't know how I feel lost.”

Alif approached her, “Bang ...”

“Moreover, Lif ..”

“Maybe this is the way to make Vita the only one.”

Yudha looked at him with question marks. “Looks like you knew something and you hid it from me,” said Yudha who was not far from the truth.

Alif smiling. “Sorry, Bang. He doesn't want you to know. But all this time I've been helping to monitor it from afar.”

“Where is he?” ask Yudha impatiently.

“I'll tell you, but please. Come at the right time. Don't be sober first.” Alif took out a cell phone from his pocket and showed a portrait of Vita that he took candidly when he met her. “She is happy now, don't worry.”

Alif re-added, “Your first child is a boy. Congratulations.”

Then that smile. Shake the heart of his heart. Thank him to the Lord for being kind enough to bring down the drizzle in the arid drought that has so long been plaguing him.

Two more chapters tomorrow well, for tomorrow there is a good surprise. Season one is likely almost over. We will continue both if the response is good enough.
