The Romance Of The Kingdom
Chapter 9: The Tears

Pov 1's. Auroras

My blood seemed to disappear when the sharp corner of the sword was attached to my neck. The cold sharp iron seemed to be coming from the deepest point of the abyss of death. The eyes of the man wearing the blindfold on the right of his eyes, as if the angel of death were asking for my life.

"Why are you protecting her?"

The man spoke with a truly horrible look. His eyes seemed to be trying to tear my neck and throw my soul in a boundless abyss. While Iva, she also experienced the same thing as me.

Two men pointed their swords at our necks. While the man who was in front of me, just looked at us with his crystal-like blue eyes. Eyes that were so cold as a terrifying sea of ice.

This complicated situation is due to the actions of Iva who ran towards me. Iva probably thought that the real man was Prince Kaspian wanted to hurt me and Iva wanted to help me. But that only makes the situation more difficult.

Looking at Iva who was running towards me, the one-eyed man who was beside the Prince moved. He swung his sword towards Iva. My body reflexively protected Iva who was on the trajectory of that sword swing.

I was prepared for death to come to pick me up. Ending on that sword or ending up on the gallows makes no difference, I thought as I tried to cover Iva's body with mine. I could only close my eyes when the sword was very close to my neck.

When I open my eyelids slowly. That's when I and Iva were in this situation. It was pinned down by two men who pointed their swords at us.

"Pardon him Your Majesty, let the servant bear his punishment."

Me and Iva said that sentence almost simultaneously. The prince looked at my face. His eyes were like a sword eye piercing through my eyeballs and looking for something in them. My breath stopped as I waited for the man to answer.

The one-eyed man's sword was still clinging and digging deeper and deeper into my neck. Fresh blood flowed slowly from the scratches that formed on my neck. I felt Iva's trembling body and her palms so cold. We dance on the brink of death and make the angel of death our dance partner. Until the Prince finally touched the hand of the man who put his sword on my neck.

"Hector, Emerson."

The one-eyed man looked annoyed by the order. While I was, just fell silent and collected my blood after the man had kept his sword away from my neck. I didn't expect the next thing to make my world turn completely.

"Stand up, this floor is too dirty for you."

The Prince's words were followed by his hand which was intent on helping me to stand up. My body was stiff when it happened. My blood that had disappeared seemed to return and flowed swiftly towards my brain. My heart was beating irregularly as the crystal eyes stared gently at me.

I glanced at Iva and still couldn't believe everything the Prince was doing. Until I heard the Prince sigh and hold my hand. He led my body to stand up so gently and very carefully.

I saw clearly the one-eyed man who was beside the Prince was flabbergasted. His face seemed to show an expression of disbelief in what the prince was doing. The prince did not seem to care about their expressions and smiled at me.

"Ashe, take this girl to Kaspian and the rest ...."

My heart seemed to stop while waiting for the Prince's decision. His decision to the Arcadian King and his Queen as well as the Crown Prince of Arcadian. My eyes looked at the Prince's expression that had turned cold again. Those eyes looked down on the Arcadian King who was prostrating on the floor while continuously begging for forgiveness.

A red-haired woman approached me with a beautiful smile on her pretty face. He took me out of the room before I could hear the Prince's decision. The woman even covered my ears as we walked out of the room. I saw Iva following me from behind with the Prince's permission.

The woman took me out and someone was waiting for me outside the room. A soldier in full clothes and a helmet covering his head. The soldier saluted the red-haired woman who led me out.

The woman patted me on the shoulder and turned back inside the throne room. I saw her waving with a sweet smile that was changing even more as that face turned away from me. That smile seemed like it was just a formality that he did to keep me from being afraid of him.

I only bowed my head as the soldier led me down the stairs. Out there were boisterous sounds and screams that made my heart return. My mind plays with the imagination that is in my mind. I realized that what that woman named Ashe said could have been true.

My steps grew heavier as the boisterous sounds outside the palace gates grew clearer. I faintly heard them shout a word that really made my blood seem to stop flowing. They called for the public execution of the entire royal family.

When they all saw me coming down the stairs, their cries turned into swearing and insults. Some of them even threw things at me. The Caspian soldiers who tried to restrain them looked overwhelmed and tried to protect me with their bodies.

I continued to walk under the swearing and diatribes of the Arcadian people. At every step of the way, I heard the screams of a woman who asked her son to come back. I heard the cry of a father who asked his daughter to be taken out of the King's concubine's room. I heard the cry of the young man who asked for justice for his father's death at the hands of the Arcadian warriors and everything that became the sickness of the Arcadian kingdom spilled before me.

Tears accompanied my footsteps through this terrible public punishment. Unknowingly a palm-sized stone floated right at me. When the stone was a few meters away from my face, I saw someone standing before me.

"Are you okay?"

That voice sounded so familiar to my ears. When I tried to lift my face, it was as if my eyes did not believe what I saw. My mind's raging. On one hand I was very happy when I saw the man's face, but on the other hand, I was very scared when I looked into those eyes.

Blue crystal eyes of a Caspian Prince. The presence of the prince and what he was doing made everyone speechless. When he threw away the stone that led to me, the people of Arcadian knelt down and paid their respects.

The man smiled at me and asked one of the servants named Nana to take me to the room that was in that thing. While he walked back to the Altar located in front of the palace gate. I saw the Arcadian King being dragged by a rope and carried to the altar.

Nana took me to one of the rooms located on the inside of that thing. The room was like a fairly comfortable room and was guarded by two fully dressed soldiers. Outside I heard the scream reverberating and getting stronger.

I closed my eyes and all the tears forced out to wet my cheeks, I put my body on the soft bed in the room. The thing that made these tears come out was not the death of my father or my mother, but the shame that brought me to reality. The fact that I live above the sufferings of the Arcadian people and laugh without knowing anything about the true condition of the people of my kingdom.

My cry took me in regret and drew my strength even more. Take me in the arms of a dream and drown in it. Wishing all this was just a nightmare and I woke up at the prosperous Arcadian work, Arcadian who used to be in the hands of the King before my father.
