Eve opened her eyes and saw herself in a room. The pain hit his head which was very heavy. He hoped that everything in his memory was just a nightmare. But this room seemed to erase his hope.
He tried to stand up but his whole body was stiff. Eve remembers the incident she went through and the last thing she saw. It was still fresh in his memory that the man's face gave him goosebumps. He hopes not to see the man again.
That figure really frightened him and his entire fighting prowess seemed to be lost before the man. The man's eyes looked as if something was taking his soul.
"You awake?"
The sound was as if a thunderbolt was grabbing his hearing. A man entered the room and stood beside him. Eve recognized the face and eyes of the blue crystal. The man was Prince Kaspian who led the assault.
"You? who're you?"
Eve once again saw Abhlesh standing before her. There was something that made him think that the prince before him was not the prince he had ever seen. All cardinals have a different vision from the common man or other Mana owners. They can see the soul of a person who has been a god since his mother's womb.
Eve was one of the people who had seen Queen Cleo when the Queen was pregnant. He still remembered the soul in the woman's womb. Something much different from what was before him at this moment. The man before him was much darker and his soul seemed to have lived older than his age.
"It turns out you're the guy."
Abhlesh was sitting next to the woman's bed. He slightly manipulated his Mana to make Eve unable to move. That obviously made Eve try to escape and of course it was all in vain. Abhlesh was much stronger than him in magic and Mana manipulation.
"Who are you?"
Eve is further haunted by fear after the blue crystal eyes increasingly look at her sharply. Abhlesh doesn't really want to do this, but there are things he has to make sure.
"Do you know anything about the World Tree?"
Abhlesh's question made Eve speechless. In this world only the Theocracy and a few Cardinals know about the world tree. A Prince who came from a small kingdom like Kaspian could not possibly know about it. Eve recalled, The World Tree was raised at the expense of one of the most important leaders of every three races.
"W-what do you mean? Exiled cardinals like me can't possibly mengeta-"
"I asked and you answered, don't let my patience run out with your stupid questions."
Abhlesh looks terrible in Eve's eyes. The soul of the man who was different from humans in general and the age of his soul that was much older than his age made Eve more confident.
"You're reinkarna-"
Eve's sentence was cut off, her body turned stiff and the air around her turned even colder. His lips shivered withstanding the increasingly bone-chilling cold. He forgets that those who reincarnate have one thing to let go of. Gaia is neither a good god nor a bad one. It's just that the world always has a price in everything it does.
"I asked and you answered, do you understand Cardinal Eve?"
Abhlesh makes Eve stand before the angel of death. He tried to nod weakly even though it was very difficult to move under the mana pressure.
"Then let's start."
Abhlesh untied his Mana. She didn't want Eve to die just because of it. There were too many things he wanted to ask the former Cardinal who still had the gift of Gaia.
"Do you know about the World Tree?"
Eve nodded slowly. He no longer had a choice, the shattered Theocracy he had to rebuild and perhaps help this prince was the right decision. At least that was what he thought considering Gaia always had a reason in every single one of her actions.
"P-tree World is guarded by 4 God-punished d-and the area cannot be reached d-easy."
"Do you know about the three-race agreement?"
Eve nodded, knowing about the agreement involving the three strongest races to raise the World Tree. But he still did not understand why Abhlesh asked that.
"P-the treaty that caused the Elf King to lose immortality, the leader of the Angelus clan lost the ability to fly and-"
Eve did not continue her sentence. He remembered about a King of the human race who joined the covenant. His eyes tried to look back at Abhlesh's soul and he realized, the man before him was the covenant holder.
"The king of men gives the most precious of them, doesn't he?"
Abhlesh's words sounded a little irritated and the man's eyes seemed to think of something.
"A-are you the p-contractors?"
Abhlesh nodded weakly. The man was as if immersed in grief and his mind was again split apart.
"A King who has to sacrifice the most precious thing to man, doesn't that sound sad?"
Eve did not know what to say hearing the tragic sentence from the Prince before her. The legend about the Caspian King turns out that they were all contract holders.
"The thing tied up in my soul is no longer a contract, it all looks like a curse to me."
Abhlesh lowered his head. He was still upset about all the facts he discovered when he was five years old. It was also what made him dare to meet his father who at that time seemed to hate him.
"J-don't tell me you ingi-"
"No, destroying the Tree won't break this curse, I just want to rediscover Gaia's attention by building the Empire once again, and it looks like I'm just walking in the destiny she set."
That sentence sounded terrible to Eve. He imagined the turmoil of war that would re-ignite throughout the mainland. But Eve hesitated a little with the Prince's reasoning, as if trying to deceive destiny and somehow Gaia gave it a way.
The war was reopened to him. Theocracy could not even stop all this, they were just pawns to their god and Eve realized, all these were the stage Gaia prepared for the man before her.
"W-will you destroy the Theocracy?"
Abhlesh's blue eyes stared intently at Eve. The woman again felt the pressure from Abhlesh's Mana. The unpredictable and mysterious man made Eve even more afraid. He recalled the supreme Cardinal saying that the Theocracy would be destroyed by storms from the small sea.
The sentence received the attention of all the higher-ups of the Theocracy and for years they oversaw the kingdom that bordered directly with the strait or bay. They were not aware that the storm was from the Caspian. The small sea mentioned was a giant lake located in the kingdom.
Now the Mana of the Prince seemed to take away his consciousness. He sees vaguely Abhlesh's eyes that seem to harbor sadness. His soul shackled by the curse made the man drown in sorrow. Eve realizes that Gaia deliberately made the Theocracy take brutal steps to get the bloody Prince out of his cage. His consciousness was increasingly disappearing and there was only one thing that flashed through his mind at the moment. Helping the bloody Prince was probably the destiny Gaia had set for him.
