Chapter 3. The Decree of King Arthur

Abraham George went to see King Arthur at the royal palace to discuss the issue of Laura's marriage to Prince Albert, also about Laura's desire to work in the royal library.

Abraham approached the room with two large doors guarded by two bodyguards in front of him.

One of the guards opened the door for Abraham to enter. Once inside we can immediately see the grandeur and luxury of King Arthur's workspace nuanced classic European like other rooms in the palace of the King.

In his study, King Arthur was not alone but there was a royal advisor, and Albert.

"Good morning, Abraham George facing his majesty." Abraham's formal greeting to King Arthur.

"Sit down on Abraham." The Order of King Arthur.

Abraham walked into the middle of the room to a luxurious European classic-style chair with the dominance of gold color as well as the state of the workspace of King Arthur, joined by Prince Albert who had sat there first.

"What is Abraham doing ? How did your family respond to the will of the late King." King Arthur came out of his desk to join Abraham's chair, which he followed with his royal advisor.

"I came because I wanted to tell your majesty about this." Abraham glanced at the prince who was still silent in his seat.

"Yes then ?"

"My son approved of this glorious marriage."

"Good, we're about to have an engagement with your first daughter."

"Sorry your honor, marrying Prince Albert is not my first child but my second child." Abraham hesitated.

King Arthur frowned at the words of Abraham. "Why can your second child whom you will marry Prince Albert, is it not in the will of the late King that the first child is written ?"

"Sorry, your honor, I am not against the will of the late King, but our family has its own consideration as to why we chose our second child to marry Prince Albert."

Prince Albert who had been acting indifferent began to be a little interested, his attention was now turned to his future father-in-law.

"What do you mean ?" ask King Arthur.

"The eldest son of our family has problems with his health, is physically weak and often sickly. We were thinking maybe his health could prevent Prince Albert from having children so we thought our second child could replace our first child to marry Prince Albert."

Kasian was silent while thinking. " Hmmmm.." So." King Arthur muttered softly.

"But it depends on the King's majesty and Prince Albert's majesty." Abraham added, a little nervous.

King Arthur turned to Prince Albert who had just silently observed. "Prince Albert, what do you think." King Arthur asked for an opinion.

Prince Albert just shrugged his shoulders in a nonchalant and relaxed manner. "As for father alone, I cannot refuse that will, even if I do not wish to make this match."

King Arthur was right to be calm not provoked by the attitude and words of Prince Albert who was not polite to him.

"I agree with your family's opinion, it doesn't really matter if the first child or not is the most important child of George's family according to the will of the late King." King Arthur finally said that made Abraham feel relieved.

"Thank you, King." Abraham smiled with relief.

"Who's your second son Abraham's name ?" King Arthur asked.

"His name is Laura Clarissa George, your honor."

"What money ?" King Arthur asked.

"Good twenty-two years, he is now taking care of the preparation of his graduation ceremony which will be carried out in the next few days, he majored in noble literature."

"Why don't we just get married ?" Prince Albert suddenly made a sound, interrupting the conversation of King Arthur and Abraham.

"Albert why are you saying that ?" The king slightly raised his tone, not liking the words of Prince Albert who was like mocking.

"You must know that the wedding of a member of the royal family is not that easy, there are many stages and procedures that must be done. I know you are against this marriage but it is your duty to obey the will of your late King, your grandfather, because you are the Crown Prince of this kingdom." King Arthur added in a stern tone.

Everyone in the room flinched at King Arthur's words, and Albert could only throw his face away unhappy with the situation before him.

The king turned back to Abraham. "The court will inform your family when they will be engaged in their engagement."

"Okay, your honor." Abraham said obediently.

Abraham remained unmoved in his place after saying so without any sign of wanting to leave making the King look at him full of question marks.

"Your majesty I have something to say." Abraham hesitated.

"Say Abraham." King Arthur was curious.

"This is the wish of my noble son."

"Yes say it."

"Before knowing this matchmaking was burdened on her, she had a great desire to be able to work in the royal library as a watchdog. My daughter approved of this marriage but she hopes to still be able to work in the royal library even after she marries prince Albert." Abraham explained slowly hoping that King Arthur could grant Laura's request.

"Can't be Abraham." The king refused firmly. "Once married to Prince Albert, your Princess immediately becomes a member of the royal family and will have her own duties as Crown Princess." King Arthur added.

"Sorry, my majesty, I added a little." The royal adviser interrupted their conversation.

"Please." Said King Arthur.

"Mr Abraham, you also know how the image of the royal family will be if the Crown Princess works in the royal library. Our kingdom will be in the spotlight of the media and other countries." The royal advisor.

"It's absolutely true what the royal advisor said, so I can't grant her request."

Abraham fell silent in his place, imagining how disappointed Laura would react when he heard King Arthur's rejection.

"All right, your majesty, I will tell my daughter." Abraham said a few days later. "Then excuse me, your majesty." Abraham is nodding his head by King Arthur.

Arriving at the house of Abraham immediately greeted his wife with a look of anxious face mixed with worry.

"How did Papa meet the King ?" tanya Mama joined Papa sitting on the sofa of the living room.

Papa took a long breath. "The king agreed to our desire to marry the prince to Laura."

"Then why does your face look so anxious ?"

"Ara's desire is not approved by King Arthur, the King strongly rejects Ara's desire to work because it is in the value of damaging the royal image and will interfere with his main duties as Crown Princess later." Papa explained.

Hearing Papa's words made Mama anxious.

"Kasian Ara Pa, he'll be disappointed."

"How else, Papa can't defy King Arthur's orders either." Papa resigned.
