Chapter 12: Round of 16

After the preliminary round ended, Rai returned to the inn where he had stayed before to train while waiting for the next round to be held in two days.

Once in the inn, Rai did not go directly to his room, but the restaurant on the lower floor first.

"That's one piece!" rai Gumam.

The state of the restaurant at that time was indeed quiet, because all visitors were still at the Dragon Lightning sect to see the match.

Rai walked up and sat down at one of the empty tables and ordered food. As Rai sedan waited for food, there was suddenly the voice of a woman calling out to him from the direction of the inn stairs.

"Tie!" say the voice of the woman.

Rai turned his gaze, towards the voice and replied to his greeting, "Oh, Rin! Come here!"

The woman who called Rai was none other than Rin. He had indeed gone home first, before Rai competed due to the injury he suffered.

"How's your match?" rin asked after sitting in front of Rai.

"Yes, you should guess. You alone?" reply Rai.

"Well, I'm better than I was before. Just need to recover the energy!" answer Rin.

"Oh, so. You want to eat?" ask Rai.

"No, I'm having no taste!" answer Rin.

"All right!" shortly after, the food Rai ordered came. Without delaying any more, he immediately ate it voraciously.

"Rai, you better be careful!" rin suddenly said.

"Why?"

"The third son of Governor Abelard, Audi is after you! He wants to get you as his girlfriend!" said Rin.

"Oh, that cheating woman? Relax, I have my own way of dealing with it!" answer Rai.

"All right! Well, then, I went to my own room first, huh?" said Rin who then moved from his seat.

"Raiden, can Rin absorb the Dragon Pearl Pill?" rai asked Raiden by telepathy.

"Sure! He's Ice Dragon's descendant!" answer Raiden.

"Rin, wait a minute!" rai's speech made Rin stop his steps.

"Accept this! You can absorb it, but remember! The distance in absorbing the pill was one month understand?" said Rai while throwing three Dragon Pearl Pills.

"All right, thank you!" said Rin.

2 Days later,

After two days passed, Rai and Rin went to the Lightning Dragon sect to take the next round of the sect's exam.

Arriving there, Rai and Rin return to their respective waiting rooms. They are waiting for the draw that will determine their opponents in this round.

"Welcome back! I'm elder Adraksh will return to referee the game this time!" said elder Adraksh who was met with cheers by the spectators.

"Today is the round of 16. His examination system would be different from the preliminary round. All male and female participants will be met on the arena through a lottery. Whoever wins, will advance to the next kebabak and fight another participant who wins this time!" obviously elder Adraksh.

"Then we start the draw!" said the elder Adraksh who then headed for the voting equipment.

The drawing tool itself is made of wood and is in the form of a giant circle. The elder Adraksh then put in some papers containing the names of the examinees.

"Well, the first match between Rai Tanaka and Swinford!" said the elder Adraksh after turning the ballot and took out two papers containing the names Rai Tanaka and Swinford.

Rai and the person named Swinford then entered the fighting arena. However, the two of them were a little surprised when they found out who the person he was going to fight was.

"You... You're the one who offended young master Adrian, aren't you?" said Swinford who turned out to be the bodyguard of Adrian.

The Swinford went straight ahead attacking Rai, as soon as elder Adraksh started the match. He used a giant axe that was fed by purple lightning.

The Swinford attacked Rai blindly. He swung his axe with all his might and intended to split Rai's body apart. But, Rai could dodge all those attacks easily.

"Why do you keep avoiding 'huh?!" tanya Swinford growled.

"You stupid or what? Obviously you attacked me and I avoided it. Next time use that brain, in the head. Not on your knees, you know?" answer Rai.

"Grahhh... You're making me mad! Accept this! The Cloud Splitting Axe Attack!" swinford.

Swinford then swung his axe which was fed by purple lightning towards Rai vertically. Rai is still quiet on the spot, making Swinford sure to win this match.

DUARR... BOOOOMM...

"Finally dead too... Huh... Hah.." said Swinford exhausted.

"Hey, who's dead?" asked Rai who was suddenly behind the Swinford.

"That jerk... What's?! How's bi..." Swinford was surprised that Rai was behind him and prepared to hit him.

"Crippling Lightning Blow!" said Rai then hit the Swinford with all his might to get out of the arena and fainted.

"Kc... Ck... Ck... Swinford... Swinford... I told you to use your brain in your head, didn't I? Why are you using a technique that serves to split the clouds, while this arena is on the ground?" rummam Rai slowly.

However, the murmur could still be heard by everyone and made them laugh out loud.

"Why are these people, anyway? Just because I said it all to laugh. That wasn't funny at all!" rai Gumam.

"Well, the winner of this first match is Rai Tanaka!" said elder Adraksh announcing the results of the match.

Rai walked straight out of the fighting arena once elder Adraksh announced the result of the match. Seeing Rai who had gone out of the arena, Rin immediately approached him and greeted him.

"Good match, Rai! You can take down Adrian's famous bodyguard in one strike. But, is he dead?" said Rin.

"No, he's not dead. He was simply unconscious and his cultivation would be crippled for three days. If you get the right treatment. However, if his treatment was wrong, he would lose his cultivation!" reply Rai.

"You're a little mean!" Rin gumam.

Shortly after, someone who resembled Rai came and approached the two of them. Rin immediately widened his eyes as soon as he saw that there were two Rai. He repeatedly rubbed his eyes, not believing the sight before him.

"You guys... Which one of you is the real Rai?" ask Rin.

"I am the real one" replied the newly arrived Rai.

"He's right, he's the real one. I'm just his shadow" replied Rai who previously talked to Rin.

"How's the match?" ask the real Rai.

"You should have guessed it! All right, I'll go first!" said Rai's shadow then disappeared.

"Rin, stop daydreaming, the next turn is you!" rai tries to wake Rin from her daydream.

"Huh? I-iya, alright!" rin said stuttering.

Rin then enters the arena and starts to fight. It didn't take long for Rin to finish the match, as his opponent had a cultivation level far below him.

"Rai, where did you go?" rina asked after leaving the arena.

"I bought a new weapon!" answer Rai.

"What happened to your old weapon?" ask Rin again.

"Battered!" answer Rai. Of course, the broken weapon Rai meant was his sword which was damaged when fighting with his friends and before meeting with Raiden.

"I know you have one more weapon! Tell me, what happened to that gun?" rin asked with a probing look.

"That's a secret!" answer Rai.
