"Sophy!" Jordan is shocked when he gets off the train and is greeted by Sofia.
The butler and the servants stood behind a few steps with their heads lowered. No one opens his mouth.
"Welcome to Duke. Sorry for my stupidity. They're innocent." Sofia looked over at a glance then continued.
"There's something I want to say. I won't be long. Maybe the Duke is uncomfortable but I beg you to hold on for a moment. I promise it won't be long."
"No, it's not like that Sofia..." Jordan pressed his pained temple.
"I just want to talk to you both." Sofia's voice was firm.
"Follow me." Jordan leads the way then followed by Sofia.
The servants whose bodies were stiffening were now relieved. How shocked they were to see Sofia already standing at the door before they came.
That was the time when Jordan came back. Very late at night. The butler tried to open his mouth but failed.
"There's something I want to tell Duke myself. So please let me here wait for him."
"Good Mistress." The servants were forced to agree.
Without thinking about the change in the faces of the servants, Sofia turned her body around. No matter the gripping voice behind him.
"Good night, Your Majesty. Long time no see, how are you?"
As soon as the door closed Sofia immediately gave her a greeting. It was the first place he came to. The Jordan workspace. Their room was one floor away. The ground floor was very foreign to him. Although she had stayed for quite a while, for almost two months, Sofia never had any sense of tension on the closed doors in any other room besides her room and library.
"Sit down." Jordan pointed at the sofa near Sofia. He took off his coat and sat down.
They're facing each other. The darkness of the night would have swallowed the whole room if the candle had not been lit. Sofia straightened her back with trembling hands anxiously. The courage that he had cultivated since this morning evaporated without a remnant.
"Your Majesty sorry to interrupt your time. There is little I want to say. I won't be long." Sofia reaffirmed her words.
"Yes, yes there must be something you want to say."
Sofia nodded.
"Your Majesty knows you're ignoring me. I'm not fighting that. I'm certainly grateful for what you've given me all along. You helped me. You even gave me a place to stay. I feel like I've had enough of everything I've received, so please don't do anything else. I'm afraid I can't repay him." Long and wide if heard but this was only half of what Sofia wanted to convey.
"Yes? Ignoring it? Sofia you misunderstood, I can explain." Jordan's voice was nervous.
"Yes if that's not the case, I don't matter Your Majesty. That's not what I'm trying to say."
"Sofia wait a minute.."
"Your Majesty I know you deliberately left early in the morning and went home late at night. If you feel uncomfortable meeting me, I will try not to be seen. But I beg you to tell me whatever it is. So that I don't misunderstand. Don't go through the butler or anyone else. Even today too, there are fashion designers coming up with a lot of things. Please tell me first so I can take a stand."
Jordan freezes on the spot, unable to stop the barrage of words coming out of Sofia's mouth.
"I know that the Duchess's position is only on paper, but I want to do it as well as possible. So please be comfortable Your Majesty, we are friends aren't we? We weren't like this before the marriage papers existed. If you feel burdened I am ready to bear the risk. I will live like a dead man. If necessary I won't go out the room."
Jordan's eyes are perfectly rounded.
"No, if necessary I am ready to divorce at any time. Ah if it could stir up rumors because of me, I would have stayed a little longer. I can do any job. I do housework. If I thought everything was safe, I would definitely leave this house." Sofia was getting nervous.
What came out of his mouth sounded swirling when not much he wanted to convey.
'Please live comfortably in your own home. If the time comes I am willing to leave this house at any time, and please do nothing. I'm afraid I can't repay him.' But he's not capable. Deep down, Sofia did not want to leave. Sofia was pleased with Jordan's indirect attention.
"What's? What do you mean leave this house?"
"Yes? Wouldn't you look for the real Duchess one day? Suatau when later after we divorce. The woman you love, the real wife. Duchess Hexalios is really not a wife on paper." Sofia's voice was shaking. His heart ached saying the word 'the woman you love'.
Foreign feelings continue to flood him. Jordan is with another woman who is more worthy, not her. He should be happy. But Sofia was not happy at all. That kind and responsible man, it's very hard to forget. Perhaps Sofia should strengthen her heart in solitude later on. I miss a guy named Jordan Hexalios.
Jordan loosened his tie that felt suffocating. The cold of the night was nothing compared to his body that was warming up. What kind of shit did he just hear.
"Sophia.." Jordan's voice is low.
"There was never a divorce in our family. We always keep a sacred bond until death picks up."
Sofia gasps. Highlight Jordan's confident eyes were now invisible. He looked shaken and sad.
Wh why? Sofia was only able to close her mouth tightly. It was strange to see a man who seemed like he would not be provoked despite the sky collapsing, now agitated.
"No, I should be the one apologizing for burdening you."
"Sofia's quiet! Listen to me!" A small impact came out of Jordan's mouth.
Sofia jerks. Jordan's angry. It looks so angry. But Sofia doesn't know why she's upset.
"Will try to explain Sofia, please.." Jordan squealed his painful temples. He had already been quite tormented for fourteen days, but all his efforts seemed futile. Sofia misunderstood him.
He did not intend to ignore Sofia. The fleeting kiss on the dining table fourteen days ago was still spinning in his head. If you think about it Jordan almost went crazy. Straps of sanity that are hard to braid on the press almost loose. Otherwise he would have attacked Sofia. Holding her up then satisfies her lust to have Sofia completely. He is a normal and mature man. That unstoppable desire was terrifying.
They were already married, it would not be wrong if she sued Sofia under the pretext of the obligation of a noble wife to give birth to a successor. That is his right. He could ask Sofia anything with the threat of a marriage letter that had been legalized by the Emperor and the God Elderbar.
But Jordan can't be like that. He was unable to force Sofia. Looking at her vulnerable body made Jordan think if she pushed him a little, Sofia would have been devastated.
A short kiss that could not be called a kiss if someone else saw it, it was just two clinging lips, fourteen days ago, igniting the surge of an adult male, that lust burned Jordan to the ground. Instead of completing the feeling of heat swirling in his body, it had even gained his heart just yet. Sofia still considers him a friend.
Even the desire to hug or hold her hand alone Jordan resisted, she was afraid that it would hurt Sofia. All he could do was look at it from afar. Making sure Sofia's life is comfortable.
But what now? A loved woman? Real duchess? A divorce? Jordan's anger boiled over his incompetence.
"Work in the palace is very piled up and must be completed immediately. I decided to join politics, my position is now that of the emperor's advisor. It is only natural that you misunderstand. I didn't mean to ignore you at all."
There is honesty and there are lies. Indeed, jobs increased five times more than usual after entering politics. But it's a lie if he doesn't have time to go home to see Sofia. There's no way Jordan would loudly say "I want to get to bed as soon as I get home and see you Sofia!". Jordan is considered crazy.
He offers Sofia a wedding as a way to escape Alex. So if she suddenly changed Sofia would definitely hate her. From the beginning he was wrong for being dishonest. She is afraid of the fact that she is the only one who loves Sofia while Sofia only considers her a friend.
"I'm sorry if I didn't explain it to you earlier Sofia." Jordan's voice sounded weak.
"In the future I'll tell you first, whatever it is. Even about the arrival of Madame Fox or my days in the palace. So please don't be mad."
"No I'm not angry Your Majesty."
"Yes you are obviously angry."
"I don't."
"If not you would have called me as usual, but you used a title to call me." A disappointed sound hatched.
Sofia froze in place. He must be a good man in front of him. How dare he make Duke Hexalios bow down apologizing to him. Explain the situation and apologize for the stupid misunderstanding. Sofia's body shrank. His burning heart was charred instantly with the word 'sorry' from him. Sofia realized that her heart was very weak.
"If that's what Jordan said, I believe."
The atmosphere is melting again.
"I'm sorry for my misunderstanding."
"You deserve to do it Sofia."
"I won't misunderstand you again in the future. So please tell me first what happened."
Jordan nodded. Arrange her complicated feelings.
"I heard Lady Janetta will be crowned empress."
"Yes, that's about ten days from now."
"I heard it from Madame Fox." Sofia was silent for a moment.
"She said I could have been present as Jordan's partner. Looks like he knows about our marriage."
Jordan nodded back.
"Madame Fox is a long-time personal designer of the Hexalios family. So he's a trustworthy man."
"good. But I can't do it."
"What do you mean?"
"All dresses are beautiful but they are definitely expensive. Moreover, it is not enough just a dress, there must be other accessories. I use what is there now. And the coronation ceremony, there's no way I can attend."
"What?"
