Throughout the night Ares and Theia expressed feelings for each other. They talked, laughed and cried together. Weeping over their farewell days. Ares tells her why she left Theia and then returned after three months. Theia also recounted her life's difficulties during Ares's departure. How afraid of him who felt chased by Ares. Theia also told me about her burning house and she assumed it was Ares when it was Duke West.
Ares listened enthusiastically. They hugged each other and held hands. Ares kisses Theia's hand. Aware of something Ares is missing.
"Theia's ring?" Ares asked about their wedding ring. Not a big ring, but it's important.
"I sold it." Theia answered in a low voice.
"It's okay, I can give you a change. Much better and bigger. It's all my fault, I'm sorry Theia." Ares kissed Theia's hand again. "You're Duke's wife now, there's nothing you can't have." Added.
Theia thought for a moment then shook her head. "Even I'm not a noblewoman."
"What do you mean?" Ares' forehead is wrinkled.
Realizing its origin. Theia's heart sank. She was a lowly woman from the periphery of the empire. Not rich doesn't even have any power. She's not pretty either. Imagining being by Ares' side a Duke makes Theia's confidence fall. He doesn't deserve the Duke. Although a person carries a child of a high-ranking noble they are not necessarily called wives. Many became stash even considered dirty laundry for high noble families. Theia was in such a position.
Ares and Theia are not married in public. But they have made a joint promise that the general public thinks is enough to prove that they are husband and wife. But the life of nobles is different from that of ordinary people. The nobles need legitimacy to show their power. They also married each other, the nobles, to unite the forces of the two families.
"Lords usually marry nobles, right? I'm just a commoner and I don't deserve you." Theia.
Ares let go of his kisses then distanced his body to equate his gaze with Theia.
"Don't think of Theia. I'm not your usual noble you know."
"But there will be a lot of rumors."
"Who would dare? They would not love his life if they dared to defy me."
Theia's eyes widened hearing the threat of murder openly thrown by Ares.
"You are my wife Theia, only you. You are the mother of my son. Do not compare yourself to others. You are clearly superior."
"But we're not even officially married." Deny Theia.
"I registered our marriage. Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow the documents will definitely come from the Capital."
Theia gasps. He was shocked at things he had never imagined before.
"Look at my sincerity with you Theia. Please trust me. I promise I won't repeat my mistake." Ares's face approached then he kissed Theia's cheek at a glance.
"But I..."
"Enough Theia. Leave everything to me. Just follow me. Your job is to look after our son and stay by my side." Ares said as he stroked Theia's round belly.
The sun was already high when Theia woke up. They slept late last night. Ares was gone when Theia woke up. Last night Ares told him that he had an important meeting with his subordinates.
Theia took a bath and changed clothes helped by the helpers. At first he was awkward. But after yesterday and today Theia began to get used to being served. The sky was very clear and Theia wanted to take a walk after breakfast and meet the doctor. He enlisted the help of butler Gion and some servants to accompany him. Anyhow she needs to know the place she lives, her husband's mansion.
Theia blushed to her own embarrassment as she imagined her to be the wife of the strongest man in the empire. Theia young had never even dreamed of this. She's lucky.
"Mrs."
Theia gasped as someone approached her.
"I'm the butler, please follow me. I will accompany His Majesty around the Osbern mansion."
Gion nodded in response.
Theia was still unfamiliar with her new calling. She must have been surprised when someone called her 'Miss' or 'Duchess'.
"Where Arei, ah I mean His Highness the Duke?" Ask Theia.
"Your Majesty is having a political meeting with her subordinates the hall of the Madam's mansion." Answer the butler.
Theia nodded in understanding.
The butler guided a short tour of Theia around the mansion. The Osbern residence consists of three large buildings. The central building was the residence of the Duke as well as the banquet hall. The left side is the kitchen, the warehouse and the residence of the servants. The right side was the training ground, the stables, the armory and the residence of the knights. Practically the place Theia lived in was in the middle. The main building of the Duke's residence had a spacious courtyard. A beautiful garden with beautiful flowers blooming.
Theia was amazed by the large number of flowers. He rarely saw flowers. Colorful and beautiful flowers are considered expensive objects. Since flowers in the empire were considered symbols of beauty, only nobles could plant them. Ordinary people only know one or two types of flowers sometimes.
See the beauty of Theia's garden bewitched. Eyes twinkling. He walked closer. Smelled of flowers because of the wind.
"Can I pick it up?" Ask Theia to the butler.
"Of course." The butler lowered his head then ordered the waiter to call the busker.
"What flowers does Duke like?" Theia wants to arrange flowers for Ares.
"Your Majesty..." The butler stuttered. She herself had no idea Duke liked flowers or not. Seeing his dark personality, Ares might not.
Theia was waiting for the butler's reply. But seeing the change in the face of the butler, Theia immediately realized her question. Men may not know about flowers. So if someone is asked what flowers they like confused unlike women who like beauty, including flowers.
Theia blamed her indiscretion. He immediately brushed it off then refocused his attention on the flower. His lips formed a smile.
"The lady is near here." Rolex whispered to Ares.
Ares's eyebrows shot up. "What's he doing?" Ares asked in a soft voice.
"While picking a bundle with the servants." Answer Ares.
'Means he's around the hall.' Thought Ares.
The park around the meeting hall is the largest. The park was deliberately created to show it to outsiders who came to visit. Ares did not expect Theia would get there. If you go out of the hall door then turn to the right Ares directly to the park.
The meeting hall is mostly glass-walled on the right and left sides. Once again deliberately made to show off the beautiful garden. The garden was created by the late Duchess, Ares' mother. So if the right side curtain is opened Ares can immediately see Theia.
"Open one curtain right side." Ares's Word.
"Your Majesty."
Soon Rolex passed to the right wing of the hall to open the curtain that palint the tip close to Ares' seat which was in the middle of a long oval table. The low boisterous voices of the subordinates did not bother Ares. His eyes stared intently at Theia who was being surrounded by servants.
Ares' gaze turned sharp as he saw Theia laughing and looking extremely happy. He was seen chatting with the servants. Her hand was full of flowers of various colors. Not far from Theia stood the butler and gardener who each held large scissors. Ares' jealousy rose to the surface.
With her own eyes Ares saw Theia smiling at someone else. Ares also sees the servants fascinated with Theia, without exception the butler and gardener who are both men.
The chair creaked as Ares got up. He walked hurriedly towards the door ignoring his subordinates who were in serious discussion. There was a confused face everywhere. They were only able to stare at the Duke's back until it disappeared completely behind the door.
