Munding - Legend of the Wolf Fighter
A Note - Wolf Fighter

This is not an update. Just a flash back about the concept of Wolf Fighter used in the Munding novel series.

The concept of the Wolf Fighter was developed on the basis of the belief that humans basically have the natural instinct of a beast within them.

This natural instinct is bestowed upon humans (as well as all other living beings) as a form of self-defense and survival instinct.

In the early era of human life, predator instincts were very useful to help humans to survive. As either an individual or a group.

The stronger a person is, the higher his position in society.

The strongest fighter of the time will be made leader, protector but also scapegoat by his group because he will be the first to advance to eliminate the threat of danger to his group.

Gradually, along with the development of humans and after humans become the dominant species on earth, the threat of danger faced by humans is also reduced.

The existence of fighters who used to be irreplaceable figures for the survival of the group began to be questioned.

The weak humans who once could only take shelter behind the fighters began to feel threatened by the existence of their protectors.

The weak humans then conspired and gathered to limit and even tried to eliminate the existence of the fighters by creating norms.

In the name of the majority, they used the norm to suppress the existence of the fighters. The protectors who once stood gallantly in front of the group, are now fugitives being chased by the group he once protected.

Over time, the fighters who had not been needed were gradually disappearing.

People then get used to living their lives by relying on imaginary rules created by weak humans.

The rules are called norms.

In the present era, where peace has been created because of the norms that are successfully used and obeyed by the majority of humans, the existence of predatory instincts that are a natural part of humans become eliminated, they are asleep and buried deep within every human soul.

Humans live quietly and feel that they are different from wild animals that rely on their instincts to survive.

But.

Of the many humans, there is a small fraction of those who, through coercion, fate or deliberate, manage to make contact with their predatory instincts that have been buried in their psyche.

Those who are aware of the presence of predatory instincts in themselves are called Wolves.

The Wolves themselves and the competent authorities then scrutinize and group the Wolves with a single purpose, controlling them to prevent the destruction of the peace already created by the enactment of norms in human life.

The first group is called the common Wolves. They are humans who accidentally come into contact with their predatory instincts and accept their existence. They regard other humans as 'victims' and never feel a sense of guilt when killing the lives of others.

The common people call them cold-blooded killers or psycopaths.

They are dangerous, but their threat level does not concern the authorities for one reason, psychologically they are predators but physically they are just ordinary humans.

They can think quickly and rationally while killing their victims but still cannot cross the limits of human ability. A group of fully armed trained policemen could easily incapacitate these Wolves.

They are individuals or groups of humans who deliberately train their martial skills coupled with self-awareness of the instincts of wild animals that nest in their bodies until finally past the capacity that should be owned by ordinary humans.

Due to the threat it posed, authorities and interested groups developed their own training systems and means to create their own Wolf Fighters.

With a variety of different methods, each Wolf Fighter formed also has its own characteristics.

But there was one thing that all the wolves agreed upon.

Classification System Wolf Fighter.

The first level of a Wolf Fighter is called 'awakening'.

This was the first stage of a Wolf Fighter as he accepted the existence of the beast instinct within him. Aided by the systematic training they have, these fighters are able to move without hesitation, focus and have near-perfect body coordination. Just like when a cheetah is fully concentrated on chasing its prey.

In this stage, a fighter already has the intent of a predator that can affect the condition of the souls of his enemies, but does not yet have the ability to control his intent freely.

The intent of a fighter in the awakening stage is greatly influenced by his emotional state. Make it dangerous for those around him if not balanced by good ability to control his emotions.

Most of the Wolf Fighters were in this stage.

The second level of a Wolf Fighter is called the 'initiation'.

The fighting wolf is in this stage, besides fully accepting the existence of its predatory instincts. He had also completely trusted his beast instincts. In order to reach this stage, a Wolf Fighter was generally required to ever finish off one's life with full consciousness.

A misconception was discovered by Munding.

At his initiation, Munding realized that the essence of initiation lies not in 'eradicating one's life' but rather in the conflict between logic and instinct. Where a Wolves Fighter must trust his instincts wholeheartedly even if it goes against his logic.

The conflict between logic and instinct will reach its peak when one is faced with the choice of taking one's life. And a Wolves Fighter will still be initiated even if he does not finish the life of his enemy when his instincts say so and he believes it above logic.

In this stage, a fighter can already control his intent perfectly. He was like an ordinary human when he wanted to and turned into a Fighter Wolf when needed.

In the Munding story to date, there are four identified characters that go into this stage. Pak Yai, Umar, the Master and Munding.

Where Pak Yai reached the highest stage and reached the level of half a step towards the next level.

The third level of the Wolf Fighter was called a 'manifestation'.

No characters in the story have been identified as being at this stage.

Fourth level and beyond.

Level four and beyond have never been mentioned in the story to date.
