Munding - Legend of the Wolf Fighter

Munding - Legend of the Wolf Fighter
Chapter 42 - Hunt - Part 2

Munding without hesitation and quickly jumped into the kedung that was behind him. He dived into the water regardless of his exhausted body or the pain from his wounds.

Munding dived in the water and fumbled with both hands. The dark night conditions made him unable to see in the water, let alone the atmosphere above.

The depth of the river in the kedung is not too deep, only 1.5 meters. If Munding stood up, it should be in the water it would not be able to drown him. But when Munding broke down, his entire body was submerged in water.

“Where ***it ran?” said someone who suddenly appeared from between the trees, a gun was ready in his hand.

“I'm sure he ran this way,” said his partner who was also both holding a gun.

Munding who was still in the water, did not know that it turned out that the two soldiers who had been in Ayu's house were now standing on the side of the river in a very close distance to him.

Munding still tried to hold his breath and dive in the water, because his instinct told him so and the threat of danger he felt was getting stronger from up there.

One of the soldiers looked around him and quickly moved to the riverbank where Munding had washed his wounds.

“See this!!” said the soldier, “ini drops of blood, means right my guess, he was here. His blood has not dried up. That means, he has just been here and the distance must not be far from here.”

The other soldier approached and observed the blood marks his partner had shown and came to the same conclusion.

The two of them then stood up and observed his surroundings. As commanded they both release the safety on their pistols and take a position ready to shoot. Their eyes rolled back and forth looking for the target they were aiming for.

Munding who was in the water, felt his chest hot from having held his breath for so long. Coupled with his entire body feeling tired and the pain from his wounds, Munding was eager to immediately stand up and breathe fresh air as much as possible.

But he persisted.

Because the threat of danger he felt was still not lost and it only grew stronger. Munding held the rock on the river floor firmly, as if he was afraid that if he let go of his grip, Munding's body would automatically jump to his feet because of the tightness that filled his lungs.

The two warriors standing on standby by the river again relaxed after looking around him with full vigilance for a few seconds.

“I think he has already left this place,” said one of them.

“Which way do you think the boy went?” replied partner.

“Based on logic, he should have run in the opposite direction from the place he considered the most dangerous. The direction from which we came,” replied the other soldier.

The two of them nodded their heads and simultaneously they leapt agilely over the rocks. They again ran towards the opposite direction from the direction they came from earlier. Soon their shadows were lost among the thick trees on the river bank.

Munding felt his chest and lungs overheating and was about to explode. He was out of breath in the water. But he kept waiting and waiting. He was fully convinced that everything his instincts showed was the way for him to survive.

When finally the threat of danger he felt gradually disappeared, without hesitation Munding immediately stood up and gushed his head from the water. Munding took a deep breath. Munding felt relieved after a few seconds of air replenished his lungs.

When Munding took his head out of the water earlier, he had seen two thick shadows running among the trees on the river bank. Their movements are agile and trained, Munding knows that they were not Karto's thugs.

Munding walked to the edge of the river and when he got there, he laid his body on the small rocks on the edge of the river. After what he experienced tonight, the rocks felt as good as a prayer mat for Munding's body that screamed fatigue and pain.

Munding who was lying on the edge of the river, looked towards the star-filled night sky. Slowly he tried to feel the condition of his body. He wanted to know how long he had to rest to restore his body condition to its original state. At least enough to defend himself.

‘What should I do now?’ ask Munding in my heart.

‘In outline, I already know everything. Who killed my father. Ayu's Lies. Even I also managed to go through my initiation process.’

‘Should I go back to Source Rejo now and take care of my wounds? Or am I staying here and looking for a way to hide myself?’

Munding thought quickly to find a solution for himself, in a place that even he himself did not know where.

Unlike his two comrades, the First Soldier and the Third Soldier stood on the bridge that was the link between the village of Sukorejo and Sumber Rejo. The bridge is the only access between the two villages.

For someone to be able to travel between the two villages the only way is to use this bridge. Or of course if he chose to swim across the river that became the barrier between the two villages.

And they both knew that Munding would not be able to swim against the swift currents of the river with the condition of his body like that.

“We've waited almost an hour here, but the boy is nowhere to be seen. How much longer do we have to wait?” the First Soldier grumbled that was starting to look impatient.

Third Soldier just smiled, “means he's still in Sukorejo. I hope our colleague doesn't meet him.”

“What do you mean?” asked the First Soldier in confusion towards the Third Soldier.

“You know why I chose to wait for that boy here?” The Third Soldier asked back to the First Soldier.

The First Soldier shook his head. He had admitted long ago that this colleague was the smartest among his other colleagues. He was never ashamed to admit it.

“If the boy comes here, I will let him through and will even help him prevent Karto's people from chasing him,” the Third Soldier said with a laugh.

The First Soldier was confused by his partner's behavior.

“You think our lives are worth 20 million rupiahs and the body ***** that somehow enjoyed how many men?” the Third Soldier asked the First Soldier with a slightly angry look.

“I don't want us to have a problem with the wolf pack educating the boy. Even if we manage to finish him off tonight. I'm sure we won't have the chance to enjoy our pay. And I don't want to throw away a piece of my life so easily,” continued the Third Warrior.

The First Warrior simply fell silent and he finally began to understand.

“Because of that, I hope that the boy does not meet our colleagues. Let Karto the *** itself feel the consequences of looking for trouble with someone who dedicates his life to survival by forging himself.”

“Aren't we and the boy actually the same?” the Third Soldier asked quietly, as if asking himself.

And that night, two well-built men stood in the middle of the bridge in silence and dissolved with their own thoughts.
