A Secret

A moment of hesitation appeared on Aunt Safira's face to continue that sentence. A big question continued to whisper the rubble of his heart, afraid that if something came out of his mouth there would be a wounded heart.

"Shall I say everything now?" he murmured in the heart.

"Aunty?" said Rani while holding tightly the hand of Aunt Safira.

Aunty Sapphira took a deep breath, while sweeping her gaze towards Ryan and Rani in turn.

"Auntie please, meet Tede one last time. Maybe his life time won't be long. At least he'll leave quietly, once you know that he's been sick all along. That's the only reason why he chose to leave in your life" said Aunt Safira, relieved after the sentence finally came out of her mouth.

Rani tries to digest the words coming out of Aunt Safira's mouth. Shocked indeed, hearing the reality that suddenly unfolded in front of him. But he felt his heart, there was still a sick feeling there.

"Tede sick?" the question kept circling around him. Even Rani could not judge her feelings, whether it was still as painful as before or not after knowing the harsh reality about the person who had been present in her past life.

Rani's gaze turned to look into Ryan's eyes which currently demanded an explanation, making Rani sigh long trying to get out of something that was now so complicated in her heart.

"Has Tede been admitted to this hospital, Auntie?" ask Rani lirih.

"Yes, Honey. Please Aunt. After he meets you, Auntie will be sincere even if the Auntie's child has to leave so soon" said Aunt Safira expectantly.

"Give Rani time to talk to Mas Ryan first okay, Auntie? Ma?"

Aunty Safira and Mama Davina nodded simultaneously. They then went out and decided to meet Tede in the treatment room which happened to be right next to the room where Rani was being treated.

Rani squeezed her husband's hand with a feeling that was hard to decipher. Now her husband was ready to listen to whatever the wife who was in front of him would say.

But somehow, at that time there was doubt in Rani's heart, trying to guess her husband's reaction if a piece of the past story that he had to tell.

"Will Ryan let me see him?" ask Rani in my heart.

Flashbacks

Seven years ago, Rani was a pretty famous slang girl in her High School. Aside from her pretty face, she is quite respected because her father is an official, who happens to be the biggest and regular donor in her school.

The interesting thing that makes Rani more famous is when she and her gang made a band called XXX band, with Rani as the vocalist. Almost three years the band was shining, even had entered the recording kitchen.

Love grows out of habit, it goes for Rani and Tede. Because too often together, Tede who happens to be the guitarist in the group also managed to make Rani fall in love.

Four years is not a short time to get those two hearts adrift. Even the two parents each have given their blessing, considering their closeness has indeed been since in first grade.

Until the time they were in college, entering the third semester their parents decided to get Rani and Tede married young. Getting married while in college is the right choice to better protect them from adultery. Although during dating they never do things that go beyond the limits, but the decision of their parents is not for no reason.

And that's where the story begins. The day before the proposal, the family decided unilaterally to cancel their wedding plans, without giving a clear reason. Tede just gave a letter, without any good tikat to meet and give an explanation to Rani and her family.

After you read this letter, I knew you would put on a lot of hate because I chose to hurt you.

I hope you find something better than me to accompany you, because through this letter I want to say that I can't.

But understand, dear. If I finally decide to stop fighting, it's not about the love that no longer exists, or because I don't have a real sense*.

*I just want this love to make us mature, that love doesn't have to have each other.

Thank you for making me special in your heart, but let me go. One day you will understand why I have to make this decision.

Tedd*

When Tede chooses to leave when a new chapter of their lives is about to begin, a sense of being ignored and unappreciated soon dominates in Rani.

Rani tried hard to crush the man who for four years had filled her heart. Until finally, after hundreds of days Rani passed after the incident, Rani felt re-born into a new figure. A stronger figure than before.

The wounds that Tede had inflicted were indeed so deep. To make Rani almost desperate and feel will never be able to heal. But it turns out that Rani was wrong, it was precisely the wound that made Rani become more mature in addressing every problem that came to her.

Even for Tede who chose to leave, it now makes Rani always grateful. Because it was Tede who made Rani vent all her pain by busying herself with all student activities and social activities for a glimmer of hope to rise again, until finally Rani can be a strong person and can bring benefits to others until she can stand firm to this extent.

Perhaps if there were no wounds incised by a Tede, Rani would not be able to repair herself to this point.

Ryan digested each of Rani's stories carefully.

"And what will you feel when the person you once loved turns out to leave you precisely because he loves you so much?" ryan's in my heart. There was a glimmer of disquiet within him.

"Why did you lie to me then? Didn't you say you never dated?" ryan tried as calmly as possible.

"Because Rani doesn't want anyone to pay in Mas Ryan's heart. Rani does not want to make Mas Ryan think about Rani with people who have been part of Rani's past. Try it when Mas Ryan knows from the beginning. Surely Mas Ryan would think that what Mas got from Rani was the second. Though by Allah Rani said, what Rani gave to Mas Ryan no matter how small, Rani had never given to others including to Tede. Even just holding hands Rani has never been, Mas," explained Rani, hoping that her now-loving husband believes.

For a moment, Ryan answered nothing. He simply smiled knotingly as he stroked the head of his wife warmly.

"Should I let him go to meet his past?" ryan murmured in his heart.
