Tired of listening to a contentious meeting. My ears and heart blackened to charcoal. I just felt hearing the complaints of slippery gossip and laughter mama-mama rempong in the village more fun than hearing debates in meetings that I did not understand well. Too serious. Make your head dizzy. They cornered each other like fighters who were competing in the ring.
"Mas, I'm tired." I lamented after an hour or so of staying in the middle of a debate that had no relevance to my life.
Bray looked at my face for a while before deciding on permission for the forum to leave the meeting room for a while. He led me out and gave an order to one of the secretaries to be with us. Bray led me into a small elegant meeting room located next to the large meeting room earlier.
"Siska, please deliver and accompany my wife to rest in my room. Call a female security guard to accompany you. Remember that! Take good care of my wife! My wife is pregnant. If there's anything with him, end your career."
"Okay, Mr. Firdaus."
The beautiful young girl asked me to take a short break in the small meeting room. While he called the security guard with his cell phone.
"Sorry, Non! Wait here first! I'll call the security guard before we move into Firdaus's office."
I'm nodding. Just follow the complicated protocol that applies in this office. This place is still foreign to me. Must obey the person whom my husband has trusted to take care of me.
"Miss want what message? Let them be brought by the security guard."
"I want fruit. Apples and wine."
"good. I ordered all of them."
"Thank you."
The girl smiled. He finished the conversation with the security guard he called.
While waiting for the arrival of the security guard who will escort, I opened the notebook. Appreciable. A little waiting time can be used to read emails and daily summaries of financial statements sent by estate staff. This small meeting room is quite comfortable for work. The air conditioner is cool and the seat is soft. I don't feel like I need to move. It is also very comfortable to rest here.
While waiting for my notebook to load, suddenly the door opened without a knock or greeting before. I was shocked.
The woman who accused me of being a monkey demon just walked into the small meeting room where I rested.
Without further ado he spoke to me, "I want to talk to you."
"What's wrong? I don't think I have any business with you."
Siska looked confused by the entry of the woman. The secretary looked rather scared. Maybe the woman had power in this company to make the secretary scared and confused.
The woman again smiled sinisterly and raised an eyebrow drawn like a dark brown crescent. "I am Firdaus' mother. You don't know me, do you?"
"The ex-wife of Budhi?" my error with a question tone that is no less cynical.
The woman sneered, folded her hands, and shone a laser beam from her eyes.
"It turns out you have guts too."
I don't know what that crazy woman means. I don't give a shit. Back focus staring at the notebook screen that has begun to show Windows applications are ready to run its function as an operating system. There's a lot of work I can do while waiting for my husband to finish the meeting. I just let the girl say whatever she wants. I don't feel like I have any relationship or problem with that woman. The status is only my father-in-law's ex-wife. It's not important at all.
"Eh, the demon monkey. If invited to talk, pay attention to dong." snapped loudly.
Siska. I stayed focused on my notebook screen. I regret going outside the meeting room. Intentions avoid and unwind hearing the debate, even crammed with silt that makes my ears more burned. Very upset with his foul mouth, but I have no intention of serving him. I don't want to fight in this big office for the sake of my husband's authority. Just patience. A dime like her is no match for me. I don't want to drop my pride in serving women who I think are brain damaged.
BRACKET. Feeling ignored, the woman took my notebook and slammed it until it broke.
I glared with a hot heart. My chest rumbles. The mouth wants to scream and rage. But what I did was to take a deep breath and hold my throbbing stomach quite tightly in tune with the rate of my heart beating moving so fast. I soon realized I had to be more patient for the safety of my baby. Broken notebooks can still be repaired or bought a new one. But my baby has to stay physically and mentally comfortable. Can't be bothered by that pretty witch.
Seeing that Siska immediately took her mobile phone. But before calling someone, the woman grabbed the flat object and slammed it on the sofa.
"Who do you want to call? Don't interfere with our problems."
Siska lowered her head and looked at me with a face full of question marks. I don't know how to respond.
"You should not be happy just to be able to take Firdaus from Maudy and marry secretly. You haven't won. Why are you coming out of your hiding place in the woods now? Afraid that Firdaus will soon become poor?"
The woman walked arrogantly with shoes that were dozens of inches tall. Trying to get close to me but Siska shoved away with her hand.
"Don't bother Mr. Firdaus' wife, madam! I can be fired if there's anything with the young lady."
"Do not call her young lady. He was not a human, but a monkey demon that Firdaus found in the forest. He's very evil. You don't know yet that Maudy blackmailed billions of her. Firdaus was captured and tricked into secretly marrying this demon." The woman was pointing at me with her pointy index finger.
Siska looked confused. I looked at me and the woman in turn. I myself am confused why the woman I do not know accuses me in such a cruel way. She is indeed beautiful. But I have no right to call me a monkey demon. Her behavior is not as pretty as her face. Disrespectful, arrogant and his words were extremely vile.
If I hadn't thought about my baby, I might have ripped his mouth off with my hand. Now I can only take a breath to neutralize my emotions and remain sitting on the sofa praying for the help of the Almighty. Confused as to how.
"The company is dying. Firdaus does not want to take care of the company, instead choosing to live in the forest for the sake of this monkey demon."
"The lady is big, it feels like you need a glass to see if it's actually your monkey demon. I just found out the fairy tale of the beautiful princess who turned into a monkey when the anger turned out to be real." I replied with a cynical smile and stood up to challenge her.
It was fortunate that the security guards immediately came and secured the mad woman who was angry with my recompense. He almost attacked me. Siska embraced and took me hurriedly to Bray's study on a different floor. As soon as the girl closes and locks the door.
Siska's sitting me on a big sofa covered in blackish-gray leather. It
give me a bottle of mineral water.
"Drink first, young lady!"
I gulped. The coldness of the water was enough to cool the flames that were churning in my chest.
"Don't call young lady! Just call me Fifa. My name is Afifa Syarif." I said with a smile as Siska also sipped mineral water from a different bottle.
Siska smiled and nodded her head.
"Hp you're broken?"
Siska nodded while looking down embarrassed.
"I'll change. Call it how much it costs and your account number. Thank you for saving me."
"I'm not feeling good. Why would Miss Fifa change? It's gonna make Fara's mom."
"It's okay. Please contact the security guard to secure my notebook immediately. Just ask for help from IT staff in case it can still save important data in it."
"Good, Non."
Siska was quick to contact the security guard and IT staff with the office telephone line. While I lay on the long sofa unwind me. I don't understand what's really going on. All this time I thought there were no serious problems in our lives other than my own personal problems.
"Bu Fara has what position here, Sis?" my question was when Siska had finished carrying out her duties and was sitting on the single sofa next to me.
"General director."
"Well good?"
"No idea, Mom. He rarely goes into the office. All internal affairs are usually handled by the vice-director, Mr. Samuel."
Oh, apparently just a parasite in this company. Not contributing but getting paid might even drain the company's money.
"Do you know why he insisted on working with Andi Gufron's company?"
"Listen to hear Fara's close friend Marlina's mother, Mr. Gufron's mother. If I see on social media anyway they often post photos with the famous sugar arisan gang hedon."
I'm nodding. I just understood why my father-in-law's ex-wife attacked me blindly. This must have something to do with Aunt Marlina.
Hufh, I take a long breath. I think aunt Marlina's manoeuvres have stopped disrupting our family. Apparently not. Wonder. Greedy man is not satisfied to ruin the comfort of others' lives. His envy was already god level. He had a lot of money and we never disturbed his life.
I understand the choice of life Baba shies away from family. Not because of no dear. But choose to live comfortably and peacefully. During this time I saw many people who live in rural villages happy and feel enough despite their economic ability which is only limited to meeting the needs of food in order to survive. Sometimes they complain of difficulties in life, but it does not reduce happiness because the complaint is not accompanied by anger, but laughter.
