Mia's best friend

In the university building, Lana arrived in high spirits. He walked confidently while smiling widely. While crossing the corridor, Lana saw some other female students she knew.

"Hi Sarah! Hi Dian! How are you doing? Ready for college today?"

"Hi Lana! Yes, very excited today. You alone?"

"I'm also very excited! Last night I did something fun and now I'm ready to face this day well."

"Well, that sounds great. Tell dong!"

"Later on, when we have free time. Now, let's focus on our college. We can enjoy the story later."

Meanwhile, from a distance, Kevin sees the cheerful Lana and socializes with other students. She was upset that Lana did not comply with her invitation last night. He decided to wait for Lana at the place.

"He thinks he can just ignore my request? I'll wait and see what he's up to."

Lana is unaware of Kevin's presence around. He continued his day with enthusiasm, trying to forget the events of yesterday night and focusing on his university activities.

Kevin was sitting in a breakfast stall by the roadside. This stall is near the campus, so many students come here for breakfast before starting college activities. The stall roof is made of neatly woven coconut leaves, creating a natural and comfortable atmosphere. The simple wooden tables are neatly arranged around the stall, decorated with several colorful flower pots that add freshness.

The owner of the stall, a friendly middle-aged man, greeted Kevin warmly as he sat at one of the tables. Kevin looked at the menu plastered on the big whiteboard on the wall. The menus are appetizing, especially for breakfast in Surabaya.

"Good morning, Mom. What do you want to order?"

"Good morning. I'd like to order some special fried rice and some fresh tea, sir."

"Good, Mas. One special fried rice and fresh tea. I'll get it ready as soon as possible."

Kevin pulls out his phone and sees a WhatsApp message sent to Lana. "I'm waiting for you at the breakfast stall near campus. Until college is over." wrote a short message from Kevin.

"I hope he comes and understands how serious I am about this meeting" Kevin murmured

Kevin tried to calm himself down while waiting for a reply from Lana. He hopes that Lana can understand the situation and provide an opportunity to explain everything. While waiting, Kevin enjoys the atmosphere of a crowded stall with student activities that come and go, while enjoying a delicious Surabaya breakfast menu.

Meanwhile, in the classroom, Lana sat among some of her classmates, talking about learning materials and lecturers who teach today.

"Lana, are you ready with the materials today? Reportedly the lecturer who taught this time is quite strict."

"Yes, I've prepared myself as best I can. Hopefully it can follow well."

Shortly after, Lana's phone vibrates and displays an incoming message from Kevin. His eyes widened for a moment when he saw his name on the screen, but he immediately tried to hide his feelings.

"What's up, Lana? It seemed a shock earlier."

Nervous Lana keeps trying to smile."Oh, it's okay. Just a message from a friend outside."

Lana opened a message from Kevin, the content was quite short but quite attention-grabbing.

"Why didn't you come last night? I was waiting at the breakfast shop. Don't take what I'm saying lightly!"

Lana tries to close the message quickly, but her friends have started to suspect something is going on.

"Everything's good, Lana?" ask Mia

"Yes, no problem. It was just an ordinary message" Lana said.

"But you look sad, Lana. If there's a problem, just tell me." Mia said again.

"Truly, it's okay. I'm just a little tired."

Since then Lana's heart has been filled with complicated considerations. In his mind, there was a confused inner dialogue.

" What should I do? Should I go see Kevin? But I was afraid, afraid that he would act unreasonable again. What would he say to friends who reveal our past? I'm afraid of embarrassment"

"But on the other hand, why am I still thinking about Kevin? He's getting married to another woman, isn't he? We don't have a relationship anymore"

"What happened to the two of us should have been a part of the past that I already had to accept. I can't get caught up in a past that won't bring happiness. But why does it feel so hard to forget everything?".

Lana continued to ponder, trying to find an answer in her heart. He feels caught in a dilemma between meeting Kevin and letting things happen with risks he cannot yet quantify, or choosing to break away and focus on a better future.

"I can't force myself to meet Kevin. I have to take care of myself and move on with my life. Maybe this is a good time to let it all go" Lana thought.

Some time later, inside the classroom, when the lecturer starts his lesson. Lana looked somewhat fixated, her mind still drifting at her consideration earlier.

The lecturer continued to watch Lana who seemed unfocused.

"Lana, did anything bother you? You look a bit absent today" said the lecturer.

Lana was obviously surprised a little and tried to smile

" Oh, no, sir. Im sorry. I just got a little sleep deprived last night"

" Alright, but make sure to stay focused during college huh. Today's material is quite important"

" Of course, sir. I'll try to focus more"

"alright, great. Do not hesitate to ask if something is unclear. Let's continue the learning" said the lecturer again.

Lana tries to turn her attention back to college, but it is still difficult for her to fully concentrate. He tried to force himself to understand the material being taught, but his heart still felt heavy.

When the lecture was over and the students rushed out of the classroom. Mia quickly approached Lana who looked rather moody.

"Lana, what's wrong? Why did the professor rebuke you?"

Lana looked at Mia with a confused expression, she did not know what to talk about while Lana also did not want her secret to be known by mia.

Lana is already comfortable from friends with Mia but she does not want to because of her past with Kevin, Mia will stay away from him.

"Oh, that... It's really okay, Mia. Personal matter only"

" You don't look like you used to. Is something bothering you?"

Lana: (doubtful for a moment) Well, there was actually one small problem in the house that made me a bit less focused earlier"

"Ohh, it's okay Lana, everyone is in their own trouble, but if you're uncomfortable don't tell me, but I'll always be your friend Lana hehehe " mia said with a centile

"Thank you, Mia. I'm lucky to have a friend like you who always cares"

" Of course, Lana. That is the job of friends, supporting each other and strengthening each other. So, don't hesitate to talk to me if there's a problem, huh?

" I will, Mia. You are the best friend I can have" said Lana who came to hug Mia.

The two smiled at each other, relieved to share their feelings. Mia promises to support Lana every step of the way.
