Girl In The Winter's

Girl In The Winter's
Chapter 18

Time kept rolling and Ayumi passed her day like a madman, she only slept for three to four hours a day, and that made Kevin very worried, but all the man's words were only considered the wind by Ayumi, because only by busying herself like that could she forget for a moment the lover who had gone somewhere.

And finally the years changed leaving a deepening sorrow for the girl. The graduation day Ayumi who has now a doctor's degree has arrived, she graduated with a suma cum laude predicate and perfect grades. All present at the event included Father and his sister who accidentally came from Indonesia, a happy smile expands from everyone's face as well as the round-eyed girl, but not with her heart. It was as if there were pieces missing he could no longer feel the bliss blowing.

The surprise he felt was when he received a large bouquet of white roses with a greeting card that read hangeul.

"Congratulations on her graduation, Uri Dongsaeng (*my sister)."

Ayumi frowned reading the writing, she had never met her stepbrother except for her stepfather who was also present at the graduation ceremony, the girl's relationship with her late mother's husband is progressing better. The man who served as President of Busan Hospital often contacted him just to ask Ayumi, at first he felt uncomfortable getting the attention of people he just met but over time Ayumi was finally able to accept it.

"Yong Jung apologized that he couldn't attend your graduation ceremony." The stepfather stood up while smilingly looking at Ayumi softly.

"Yong Jung?" Ayumi asked while furrowing her brows at the name she just heard.

"Yes, Yong Jung, your brother. But he promised he'd be there for dinner tonight."

Dr's Words. Choi was successful in making Ayumi widen her eyes in surprise.

"We're going to dinner together?"

"Yes, I've booked a restaurant at the hotel and have invited your Father and Sister, we'll be celebrating your graduation" said Dr. Choi with a smile made Ayumi powerless to refuse him and could only smile.

"Good, all our families will be present and you will finally meet that brat."

"Bad kid?"

"Yes, your brother is so naughty he made me confused about suddenly disappearing for almost two years, but he's actually a really good kid, you're going to love him" Dr. Choi with proud eyes when he told me about his son.

In Ayumi's heart asked, would her stepfather show the same proud look when he talked about her? Like his father who now smiles widely because he is happy and proud his daughter graduated with great satisfaction.

The clock shows the seven-night mark as Ayumi and her sister walk into the Grand Vancouver hotel restaurant where Dr. Choi stays. Ayumi's stepfather was waiting for them at the table he had ordered, their table position was near the window and from the top of the 26-story hotel where the restaurant was located, they are presented with a glittering night view of the city.

"You look so beautiful" praised Dr. Choi after seeing the two girls in front of him wearing the dresses he presented them with. Knee-length light blue silk dress with a simple model and looks fitting on the body Ayumi makes her look very graceful, she is very elegant, likewise with Rama who wore a knee-length dress in green extinct makes her look very beautiful and fresh.

"Where's your son?" Asked Mr. Maheswara, after they sat down on the chair provided.

"She's coming soon" replied Dr. Choi is friendly.

For a while they talked lightly while enjoying a drink before the food came.

"Good night, sorry late," the heavy voice of a man who now stood before them wearing a black suit and blue shirt inside, his hair neatly combed, the man looked very handsome. Rama almost drooled when he saw the tall man towering with the sturdy body.

"Include my name, Choi Yong Jung, Ayumi's older brother," said the man as he looked at the pale-looking Ayumi, his round eyes almost out, his mouth was open in disbelief at what he was seeing right now.

Reflexively he stood up, stammeringly he said, "Kevin?"

"Do you know each other?" Dr. Choi looked confused as he looked at the two in turn.

None of them answered the question, they just fell silent and looked at each other for a while, before Ayumi finally broke the silence.

"I'm sorry" said Ayumi as she ran out of the room making everyone look confused at Kevin who is now bowing respectfully before chasing after his sister and also his best friend all this time.

"Angel, wait!" Kevin exclaimed when he saw the girl get into the elevator but it was too late for Ayumi to press the object quickly until it closed just before Kevin came in.

Frantically Kevin pressed the button on the other elevator which was soon open and lightning fast he entered it, arriving in the hotel lobby Kevin looking for the figure of the tiny woman, at a glance he saw the silhouette of Ayumi's body turning towards the park behind the hotel, he ran following from behind unwilling to lose.

"Angel, wait!" Exclaimed Kevin while holding Ayumi's shoulder which was immediately pushed aside by the girl, with hurt eyes and full of anger he looked at Kevin who was so stunned staring at the reaction of the woman he had known so well.

"Don't call me that again!" Ayumi growled with a voice filled with anger.

"Angel," said Kevin in a soft voice trying to calm Ayumi.

"I told you, don't call me that again!" Shouted Ayumi with a burst of emotion, her breathing was hunting, her face was reddened, her eyes were giddy looking at the frozen Kevin.

"You, among the many people in this world, why should you!" Exclaimed Ayumi who was now no longer able to hold back her slowly rolling tears, seeing that Kevin stepped his feet closer to Ayumi who just raised his hand asking that he stop stepping.

"Did you know all this time that I was...your sister?" Ayumi's trembling voice could only be countered by a regretful nod from the man before her.

"Oh God! Do you know, I trust you so much, I tell you everything but you have deceived me."

"No, that's not true."

"Stop!" Ayumi orders when she sees Kevin again trying to get close to her.

"I even cried in front of you when I told you about my mother, I poured all my anger on her into you. I trust you more than anyone, but why...why do you have to come and trick me like everyone else?"

Ayumi's tearful voice stoned Kevin, condemning himself for his stupidity and fear when it comes to telling the truth about their relationship, he was afraid that the girl would shut herself off and move away.

"For all this time you must have laughed at my stupidity and misfortune." Ayumi wiped away her rough tears, "I shouldn't have much hope that you wouldn't deceive me." His tears rolled back down his cheeks, "I should know, My mother had just dumped me, my Beloved left me, and now the person I thought was my best friend, the person I trusted the most, the place I depended on turned out to be.. it fooled me from the beginning."

"No, not like that," said Kevin with eyes as hurt as Ayumi, his head shaking in denial of the girl's words, his arms outstretched trying to reach out to the retreated Ayumi.

"Don't come any closer!" Ayumi growled between her cries, her head lowered for a moment and then looked at Kevin with a look of injured eyes.

"No. It's not your fault. It's my fault!" Ayumi patted her chest hard, "I'm with my bad luck!" The girl's voice sounded so heart-wrenching filled with hurt feelings, "I am destined to be an outcast," he whispered weakly, "I am, his hand was now loosely beside his body which began to shiver holding back the sobs.

Regardless of where she was at the moment, Ayumi crouched down and started crying out all the emotions that had been squeezing her chest all this time, she could feel Kevin crouching before her, and without many words he pulled the frail body of the girl into his arms.

"Why you?" Ayumi asked between her cries, her weak hands hitting Kevin's unmoved chest, "Why...why?" Ayumi repeated between her sobs, Kevin further tightened his embrace which finally made the girl's cry break unstoppable again.
