Erik's departure to his home country left a wound for Ayumi, days changed but no word from the man nicknamed the ice statue, all the messages he sent there was nothing to reply, he said, as if swallowed by the earth Erik disappeared without a trace.
"He hasn't contacted you yet?" Kevin asked when he saw Ayumi who was again daydreaming in front of the cashier table at the cafe John.
"Not yet.maybe he's busy."
"Yeah, it's busy to the point of not being able to take just a minute to reply to your message."
Ayumi could only take a heavy breath hearing the cold speech of the man who was famous for his outspoken style of speech, but strangely it is also what makes him much appreciated by the women here or whether because the Korean wave virus is sweeping the entire world including Canada, including Canada, and Kevin, who is a native Korean with a handsome face, white skin and athletic height, his slightly shaggy hair makes him look a little wild with his rocker style, that makes every day the fans are growing, which of course gives more advantage to John because the cafe is always crowded on weekends.
Every Saturday night and Sunday night Kevin will display his skills in singing and playing guitar, as the cafe is now filled with Kevinism, the name that his friends at the cafe pinned to the women who always crowded just to see the man. And today where Kevin is scheduled to sing, the cafe has been filled with women staring at Kevin with sparkling eyes.
But unfortunately the man who today is wearing torn jeans in the middle of the neck, a white t-shirt with a picture of Merelyn Manson that looks creepy in the eyes of Ayumi, and the black leather jacket completes his appearance tonight instead looks more interested in disturbing Ayumi who looks moody than watching the women who look at him full of cravings.
"Do you know where he lives?" Kevin asked again which made Ayumi look at him for a while before finally shaking her head which made Kevin look desperate.
"So you don't even know where he lives?"
Ayumi shook her head while resting her chin on the hand, her mouth looked sullen, seeing that Kevin could only take a heavy breath.
"What if a city? Did he ever tell you what city he lived in?"
Ayumi was silent for a while before returning to shake her head and it made Kevin look frustrated and had cursed in Korean that Ayumi had known.
"Don't curse in front of me!" Ayumi exclaimed as she looked at Kevin with sharp eyes that made Kevin smile.
"All right, I'm sorry. Do you know the name of the Korean?"
Ayumi again took a heavy breath and made Kevin more frustrated, he felt sorry for his best friend, he was, but on the other hand he also felt anxious because the genius woman in front of him suddenly became so stupid when dealing with the name of love.
"Do you know how many people, surnamed Kim, are there in Korea?" Kevin asked with his arms on his back, his body leaning against the cashier's desk, his legs crossed and staring at Ayumi while raising his eyebrows.
"I know a lot" Ayumi replied limply.
"Yes, many and surnamed ones aren't necessarily brothers or sisters, so how can I help you find out about them if you only know their surnames?"
Ayumi widened her eyes after hearing Kevin say, "What are you going to do?"
"Can't we use his English name?" Ayumi asked expectantly, to be honest she was eager to find out about her lover, did she arrive safely? Is she okay? That was all Ayumi wanted to know, besides of course she missed Erik a lot.
"And looking for him all over Korea?" Erik asked which made Ayumi fall silent again and look lethargic.
"I have an idea!" Kevin exclaimed as he patted the hand that made Ayumi jump with excitement, her eyes sparkling at Kevin expectantly.
"I'll make a flyer with a picture of your lover, we'll write in uppercase letters 'SEEKED, IRRESPONSIBLE FUGITIVE WHO HAS LEFT HIS LOVER'... AWW!"
The words made Ayumi beat her mercilessly, "Not funny!" yelled Ayumi with a frowning face staring at Kevin who was petting his arm that was sick from his punch.
For a moment the man fell silent and looked at Ayumi with pity, in his heart he was very furious at Erik who just disappeared without news, but he is also very sure that Ayumi's lover is not a man without responsibility who will leave the woman he loves so easily, and Kevin believes Erik has a very strong reason behind all this.
"Listen, he's only gone during this winter break, didn't he say he was going home when the holiday was over? And that's next week. So all you have to do now is be patient until next week and when he comes back you can beat and scold him as you please, ok?"
Ayumi thought about Kevin's words, as usual her best friend always said the truth. The winter break is coming to an end next week and Erik is sure to return on his promise to fulfill his obligations as a lecturer, so all he needs to do is be patient for another week.
The day changed, one week was passed by Ayumi with a happy feeling that erupted because the lecture was about to start which meant Erik would come soon. But a week passed the man did not show his nose, weeks changed months and Erik has not returned, the season has changed, the cold air of Vancouver is changed by the warm air of spring gives cheer to everyone but not Ayumi, the girl's heart has frozen when she hears that her lover, who is, the Lecturer of Art has resigned from the same campus where he studied.
The warm spring air makes everyone do a lot of activities outside to enjoy the sun, as well as Ayumi who enjoys her day off in Stanley park, Stanley, a place that is the destination of almost everyone to enjoy their holidays in the open. The park which is a destination for foreign tourists and a place where various festivals are often held has never lost its charm.
It has been too long since the girl dissolved in busy with activities at the Hospital, college and cafe he seemed to have no time for himself. Ayumi sits under a maple tree and overlooks Logan Lake where some ducks are swimming. Ayumi's eyes stared at the sheet by sheet of novel that was in her lap, her legs were squawking, her back was leaning against the tree, the headset connected to her white ipod was covering both ears. As if dissolved in his reading, he ignored the surrounding conditions that sounded crowded by the cries of children playing with their pet dogs, the sound of parents yelling at their children for being too close to the lake, he said, or the voices of some adults who were talking not far from him.
The position of his body can outwit anyone who sees it because it does not reveal his mixed feelings and thoughts that ventured to last fall, he said, when he meets with Erik here and ends up with their trip spending the day off in China’s town and Vancouver look out.
I don't know who he's going to lie to or maybe he's going to deceive himself, because at the bottom of his deepest heart he wished the man to appear behind a tree complete with a camera in his hand as he once did, or when almost every morning he would go haiking in the garden just in the hope that his lover would be there sitting on a rock, staring at the newly rising sun on the eastern horizon and smiling brightly at him, but it was all just a dream in broad daylight because the man with the sharp eyes that made Ayumi fall in love never again appeared before her.
Finally Ayumi gave up when the soft voice of the CNBlue guitarist flowed in her ear, she closed her novel, her eyes now glare into the distance where the ducks were swimming. In his heart he completely permeated every single verse that Jonghyun CNBlue had sung, the lyrics of the song crying in the rain really illustrating his current liking.
He no longer knows how to move on without the man, let's just say he's a crybaby because he can get hurt that deep just because of a man who hasn't filled his days. But the heart and feelings no one can control, without realizing it he had given almost all his heart to the man and now even though the seasons had changed to show the sting of the spring sun but the girl's heart was still frozen as cold as winter.
But somehow there were no tears flowing down her cheeks, probably because she still hoped that Erik would come back to her one day. Yes he hoped, God still kind to him by sending back the man who had stolen half his soul to him.
