A Slap
"Take your talk, Devano! That's why I've never held accountable a disgusting man like you, ever, because I know you definitely won't admit to this kid and always accuse this kid in the womb of being Brian's!"
Devano smiled cynically at Luna's words. "Dirty men?Do you realize you're saying that to me, Luna? Is it because you've been touched by other men like Brian so you can talk like that?"
"You better shut up, Devano!"
When Devano will open his voice suddenly the door of the room was knocked.
TOK TOK TOK
"Excuse me" said a female doctor. He then entered the room and approached Devano and Luna.
"Excuse me Mr. Devano, we have to take your wife to the treatment room" the doctor said.
"Please" replied Devano.
The doctor ordered a nurse to help Luna get out of the gurney and sit in a wheelchair and take her to the treatment room. After arriving at the treatment room, the woman's doctor then checked the content of Luna back. Devano was sitting in front of Luna's treatment room while playing with her phone.
"You should rest a total of approximately one or two weeks Mrs Luna, please reduce your activities and do not think too much."
"Emhhh but, what about my job doc?"
"You take it easy, I'll make a letter from the doctor to get a complete rest."
"But doc, how about I get fired.... "
Luna could not continue her words, suddenly tears had fallen down her cheeks.
"Hi, why are you crying?" said the doctor while holding Luna's hand.
"Doctor, I'm the backbone of my family. If I get fired how do I support my family? I really need my job, Doc..."
"Call me Vallen, my name is Doctor Vallen. Why do you have to be sad like this, son?" said Vallen who also felt sad to see Luna who is currently starting to sob.
"I'm afraid I'm fired, doc, I'm in a difficult situation right now."
"Difficult condition?"
Luna nodded her head slowly. "Yes, I'm in a difficult situation. I'm currently pregnant, if I don't work, then how can I live the life of my family and my child, Doc."
"Where is your husband?" asked Vallen with a little caution. However, Luna simply shook her head. What was seen at this moment was only drops after drops of clear granules coming out from the corner of his eye.
"I'm not married yet" Luna replied in a raucous voice. Vallen was so surprised to hear Luna's words, but he covered his surprise by being ordinary so as not to hurt Luna.
Now, Luna's cry broke, Vallen could not see the young woman who was now crying in front of him. A woman who looks so fragile. She then hugged Luna while stroking her hair.
"Cry, cry to reduce your burden. Think of me as your closest person, I know right now you must be living a life that is not easy Luna. I know that."
Luna sobbed in Vallen's arms. "Thank you very much, doctor. You're so nice."
Vallen then released his embrace on Luna. He then smiled as he wiped away the tears that had soaked Luna's face.
Luna nodded her head. "Luna, may I ask you something?"
"Sure, what does the doctor want to ask?"
"I'm sorry Luna, may I know who the man in front is? The guy waiting for you?"
Hearing Vallen's question, Luna lowered her head.
"He's, he's a former boss at my place of work, Doc."
Luna could only bow in lethargy. "Is that really just your relationship?" ask Vallen who makes Luna look so nervous.
"Emmhhh... Yeah, he's my former boss, Doc."
"Is it really just an ex-boss to you? Has there never been more contact?
"Yes, just a professional relationship as a superior and subordinate."
"But why do your eyes say you have more of a relationship than that, Luna?"
Luna just closed her eyes and brushed her chest which now feels so tight.
Vallen then held Luna's hand back. "Well if you don't want to tell me yet, Luna. You can tell me whenever you want. I'll hear your complaints, sorry not that I'm too involved in your personal life. But, I just want to help ease your burden, that's all."
"Yes I know you mean well, Doc."
"Well then, rest. I'm out first" said Vallen.
"Yes Doctor, thank you very much."
Vallen then smiled. "Beautiful girl, I know you're a strong woman" Vallen said as she stroked Luna's face before exiting the room.
Luna smiled too. After Vallen left the room, Devano entered the room and approached Luna.
"Do I need to call your girlfriend? She must have been so happy to know you contained her flesh blood."
Luna was silent to Devano's words. "Master if your goal here is just to talk about it, you better get out of here! Because the child I bear is not Brian's, but your son!"
"Lied!"
"I never lied to you! If you don't believe me, please count me the last date we had sex two months ago, before your parents complained to us, counting from the last day I had my last menstrual period while still in a relationship with you, isn't it the same age as my gestational age, Mr Devano? You should be happy I never held you accountable for this baby. Please don't interfere in my life! And, you better get out of here, sir! Go!" snapped Luna.
"Go Mr. Devano!" yelled Luna back.
Devano snorted in annoyance and turned his body. However, just as he turned his body, a slap landed on his cheek.
