Five minutes later...
The atmosphere of my work space changed instantly when Hadden entered the room. And now he's sitting at my desk like a corporate guest. I was so confused what to answer if he asked so much why I could be here.
"Heard you came to my party that day?" He sipped the coffee served by the office boy's office.
"Hm, yes," I answered briefly.
"Knowledge Jackson?" He asked again while looking at me. Implicit if he starts to suspect me.
It's not Cecilia's name if you can't play. Especially in a situation that can be said to be desperate like this. So as much as possible I cover up what really happened. I'm still the Cecilia Hadden knows. I had to keep watch by playing my charade, as if I was the victim.
"Always, Sir. I can't seem to move in front of her." I'm theatrical.
Still vividly remembered the message from Jackson, long before today. He said just make it a cushion so that I survive the various questions, about ownership of shares in Angkasa Group. And now it's time for me to do that. Because what I'm dealing with is not just anyone. Apart from being an uncle to Jackson's own wife, Hadden was also a big businessman. Certainly if honestly it will even have a bad impact in the future.
"The news spread very quickly, Cecilia. I asked Clara where you were, she said you were here. But apparently, up to here you already have your own room." Hadden was investigating me.
Clara was very honest with Hadden. Does he work for Hadden?
My heart wonders about Clara's current position. I was confused which side he was on. Are you with Jackson or Hadden? That one woman makes me wonder who she's working with.
"I forced Mr. Jackson to be here, sir. Not only me, but Aurel. Mr. Jackson sent us to oversee the accelerated acquisition process." I explained to her.
I saw Hadden nod, as if understanding my situation. "But what I heard outside of prejudice, Cecilia." He started to corner me.
"You mean?" ask me while frowning, suspicious of his question.
Hadden stood up. He went to my window and opened a little curtain. So that sunlight can enter through the small cracks of my window curtain.
"You hold a 2.3% stake in Angkasa Group. Where do you have that kind of money? Are you undercover?" his question made my heart beat fast instantly.
I thought quickly to answer the question. I can't get caught up in his words. Hadden is investigating me and I must continue to be careful. Because otherwise, Jackson's plan could have been discovered by him.
"That's my payment to Mr. Jackson, sir," I replied, trying to calm down.
"Payment?" Hadden looked at me.
"Yes, right. Mr. Jackson is not a fool who lies easily. Everything I did was discovered by him. He caught me while transacting with Miss Zea. So that's why he asked me to take responsibility for what I did at that time." I'm an alibi, scapegoating Jackson.
"So you mean it's your own money?" He asked again as he walked closer to me.
"No" I replied straightforwardly. "I borrowed it to Mr. Jackson on my body's bail" I said, explaining.
"Hm, okay. I-i understand. I never thought Jackson would do that to you." I think Hadden is starting to understand my position. "Cecilia."
"Yes, Sir?"
"When we meet first, maybe this will never happen to you."
Hadden wanted to be a hero to me. He bent his body slightly to see more clearly this face of mine. I also wanted to kick it. I don't want to be approached by anyone, except Jackson. My body refuses to be approached by anyone other than her.
"Thank you, sir." I smiled at him thinly.
Hadden stood up straight again. "It's lunch time. What if we had lunch together, Cecilia?" tanyanya sat back in front of me.
As Hadden moved away, there was also a peppermint smell coming from his body. Makes me feel sick, even wanting to vomit. I don't know why I don't like the smell of peppermint. I also immediately raised the room AC temperature so that the aroma was not too smelled my nose.
"Em, I can't go out, Mr. Hadden. I'm worried if Jackson sees it and it'll add new problems for me. My debt is so much and I have no other guarantees than my body. So sorry, I can't have lunch with you." I smiled after subtly refusing her invitation to eat.
Hadden was silent to see me. Maybe he was thinking how cruel Jackson was to lock me up and not have lunch with anyone else. I don't know what's on his mind, I hope he gets out of here. I don't want to add any more trouble.
"It's a shame." He looked disappointed as he combined his fingers. "I've come all the way here just to take the time to meet you, Cecilia. But apparently the heavy burden is being carried." Hadden seems to empathize with me.
"Haha." I pretended to laugh in front of him.
"If it's urgent, you can call me. I'll wait for news from you." He stood up.
"Thank you, sir." I smiled at him.
I saw Hadden tidying up his suit and then stepping foot to the exit. He stopped talking this time. I immediately drove him to the front door of the room.
Implied disappointment from the face of the forty-seven-year-old man. Take her lunch I refuse with a little play on words. I hope he can understand where I am now. And I hope this war ends soon. I don't want to live in fear because of my own character.
Oh my God, thankfully.
Come to think of it, there is something that stands in the way of Hadden coming here. Why did he get to know if I held a stake in Angkasa Group? Oliver must have told it himself. Who else? That means there are still pests that must be cleaned immediately. Because otherwise, Jackson's plans to win the business competition could be stymied.
Cecilia, stay with Jackson no matter what. Because other men are not necessarily as sincere as their hearts.
I realize that right now only Jackson can trust. That grim-faced man will also be the father of the child I am carrying. Moreover, he has shown his good faith, taking responsibility for all his deeds to me. So there's nothing else I need to doubt.
Right now my job is to obey all his orders. Because it's also for my own good. And I trust him so much. I trust my Jackson.
