Happy reading guys... Have a nice day...
“We go to Sydney yuk, Ra?” nevan asked Haura who was enjoying the chocolate ice cream in her hand. Haura sat down next to Nevan.
“Ke Sydney... For what?” asked Haura as if she was confused
“Holiday. For what else.” Nevan said casually. It is as if Sydney is as far away as Jakarta to Bandung.
They were enjoying the night in a park. The original plan they just want to take a walk to relieve boredom because there are no activities during school holidays.
Actually, it's just Nevan who's bored. While Haura did not feel bored because of school holidays. Even Haura is very happy because she has a lot of time to help ease her mother's work.
This has been Nevan's invitation for the umpteenth time. It's been a few days since Nevan invited Haura to come with him to Sydney. Nevan misses her grandma so much. But he wanted to invite Haura to come with him. Inviting his little friend to enjoy the city where he grew up. Nevan wants to spend time with Haura.
“Why do you always reject my invitation?” nevan asked Haura. The girl's attention was only on the ice cream in her hands. And also some little kids running around here and there.
“Emmm Haura flicked her shoulders.
“Ayolah Ra... Mau yes... Plisss...” please Nevan again.
After finishing her favorite ice cream, Haura looked at Nevan. The man next to her was putting on a pleading face. Haura hoped to accept her invitation.
“I don't want to come, Van. If I go Kasian Mom alone. I'm happy if there's a kayak holiday now, because I can have a lot of time with Mom.”
Nevan breathed a rough breath. Nevan had suspected that this was the main reason Haura had rejected his invitation.
“I have never been on a plane. I fear. Sydney is nowhere near. That's very far.” Haura said honestly while smiling stiffly showing off her row of white teeth.
“Ngebayangin get on a plane I never did, Van. Well you even take me to Sydney,” continued Haura again.
“Meanwhile I invite you, let you know what it's like to get on a plane,” Nevan begins to get annoyed with Haura's words. “Later my permission to your Mom.”
“No need Van. You don't have to ask permission from Mom. Because I don't want to come with you. Please understand yes Nevan.”
Haura was sure that if Nevan asked her mother for permission, her mother would give her permission. Not because I didn't want to refuse Nevan's request. But his mother wanted Haura to enjoy her teenage years. Not even stuck with a variety of homework as now.
One more thing that makes Haura unwilling to accept Nevan's invitation. There was Madam Vania as well as other friends of Nevan and indirectly were her friends too. He really felt awkward joining them. Like on the day of the report.
Even imagining that day alone made Haura feel extremely embarrassed. She is like a lady in the circle of princes and princesses. Haura did not want that to happen again.
“I'll be gone for one week,” Nevan said again.
While Haura just nodded.
“You have no problem I stay for a week?”
“What am I why?”
Nevan knitted both of his eyebrows. Hope Haura will respond in another way. “You wouldn't miss me if I stayed for a week?”
The one asked just shook his head. Makes Nevan even more upset.
“Ckkk…. You will cry because you miss me.” What a statement full of confidence.
Nevan was silent because of Haura's words. The young boy looked up in his childhood. When he was playing with the girl next to him at this moment. Also when they split up because Nevan had to go with his grandma.
For a moment the two fell silent to each other. Haura looked at the twilight sky. A torrent of orange slowly gradually began to decorate the horizon. Ready to deliver the beauty of a moment. Dusk never promised immortality. But it is ready to give you peace. Just momentary.
For Nevan, Haura's face actually became a beautiful sight that beat the twilight. Like a magnet that always pulls it to get closer. Staring fixedly at Haura's plain face.
“What for ten years have you never thought of me, Haura?” ask Nevan. Shifting Haura's gaze to him.
Nevan turned her face away. Look straight ahead. “Did you never miss me at all?”
Haura was stunned at Nevan's question. It never occurred to him that Nevan would ask that question.
Surely it would be a lie if Haura said that she never thought of Nevan. Even more so when he and his mother began to settle in Nevan's family home. Haura always thought about her childhood best friend.
“Ear,” replied Haura.
Nevan smiled happily. Nevan knows that Haura is not lying. One word in response to Haura made herself feel meaningful in the life of the girl who is still considered her best friend.
“I often,” says Nevan.
“I think of you often,” honest Nevan again.
“I always think about how Haura faces now. Does he still remember me. Is he okay there. Is he still a whiny.. And does he miss me” Close Nevan. A sweet smile graced Nevan's handsome face.
Haura was at a loss for words hearing Nevan's words. Plus Nevan's blue eyes swept her into the vast ocean. Haura was unable to decipher the meaning of Nevan's gaze now.
The girl never thought that Nevan whom she thought had forgotten her, still remembered her all along. Inner Haura wanted to fully believe that what Nevan said was honesty. Yeah, Nevan must be honest with what he said.
“I always miss you, Ra.” Nevan pinched Haura's nose squash. Trying to melt the atmosphere.
“Sakittt..” Protest Haura.
“Let's hump Haura,” Nevan laughs while Haura gets upset.
Time keeps turning. Even the orange is about to leave the horizon. Let night come to accompany the moon. It was time for the two teenagers to go home.
On the way they were silent to each other. Only the sound of Nevan's motorbike and other vehicles could be heard accompanying their journey. Haura tried to breathe deeply into Nevan's perfume scent. In his mind justifies Nevan's saying that he will definitely miss Nevan. And so is Nevan.
Haura has been a part of Nevan's daily life. Even though he has not left, Nevan is very sure that he will definitely continue to think about Haura.
“I must miss you, Ra,” Nevan said. Haura's sense of hearing can clearly capture Nevan's words.
“Me too,” replied Haura. Nevan smiled happily at the reply of the girl who was hugging him. Nevan rubbed Haura's hand gently.
“I won't be there long. Just one week. Wait for me to come home, Haura. Wait for me to come home for you. And don't cry if you miss me.”
“Hmmm..”
It is like a promise from a man to a woman he loves very much. A promise is spoken like a belief in a certainty. Surely a sincere promise from Nevan to Haura. A promise that will either be fulfilled or not later. A promise that will be a hope for Haura. It might also be an injury to him.
Without Haura knowing Sydney became a city that once gave Nevan the greatest wounds. The town hides a man Nevan believes to be his first love. A person whose name has the same meaning as Haura in Nevan's life.
