(May) I Fall in Love

(May) I Fall in Love
How to Love

“You're okay, right?” nevan asked immediately after sitting on the edge of the gurney in the UKS room where Haura was lying.

Haura immediately got up from her bed and sat down on the edge of the gurney and stuck her legs down.

“Why didn't you ever tell me that Rhea hurt you?” Nevan looked at Haura who was now sitting next to him with a space that was quite spaced apart.

Nevan has learned that Rhea has hurt Haura several times. The first one was in the girls' locker room. It was Luna who told Nevan about the incident. The second incident was in the theater and the last is today.

Today Rhea did not hurt Haura physically but hurt Haura mentally. Humiliating Haura in front of the other students. And it was certainly more painful than any physical injury Haura had ever experienced.

“Gue wants to say the same important lo,” said Luna when in the broadcasting exkul room there is only herself and Nevan.

Of course Nevan felt confused about what important matter Luna wanted to talk to her about. Because according to the handsome teenager, there was nothing important that they should talk about. Moreover, Nevan and Luna are not so familiar. They were friends just because they were both Haura's best friends.

“About?” nevan asked confusedly.

"Gue hope you don't have to get too close to Haura. I already know about Haura's status in your house. But

you better not pay too much attention to Haura. Because the attention of you instead make him hate all the children in this school. There are even those who do recklessly to harm Haura because they are jealous of your closeness with Haura. The incident in the exculpatory chamber was the second time that Haura experienced violence in school. Perhaps the first incident that befell Haura did not leave her severely injured, but what happened in the exculpatory room two days ago was a terrible thing. If you hadn't found Haura that night, I'm sure it would have been traumatic for Haura" explained Luna at length. Without Luna knowing that actually Haura his best friend had harbored another trauma in his life. While Nevan is still listening carefully. The shock was clearly visible on Nevan's handsome face. But he has not commented anything, still hearing what will be said next by Luna.

"Lo knows Van, if Haura can go to school here because of a scholarship from Papa Lo. And children who get scholarships are often the target of soft bullying by children who are economically class like you. Therefore I hope you can keep a little distance from Haura. It's for Haura. I hope you understand because..."

"Who?" Luna had not yet finished her words, Nevan had cut Luna's words.

"Who would dare to hurt Haura?" ask Nevan again.

"Lo doesn't need to know who, because I'm sure Haura doesn't want you to know about this incident. That's why he didn't tell you anything the same."

True what Luna said, Haura did not want Nevan to know about the incident the other day in the locker room where Rhea hit him to make his hand hurt. For Haura the small wound she had obtained because of Rhea's actions was not something worth exaggerating.

Precisely Haura was afraid that because of her friendship between Nevan and Rhea that had been established since they were children would be damaged by her presence between them. Moreover, Haura knows very well that Rhea loves Nevan. Haura felt herself indeed being in the midst of them. And what Rhea did to him was purely out of a great sense of jealousy.

Unfortunately the dimpled teenage girl could not do much because Nevan was always clinging to her. It was not that Haura had never asked Nevan to keep her distance from her if she was in school. But as usual Nevan always asks for a logical reason for all Haura's requests. Of course Haura would not say if her request was because Rhea who was jealous hit her. It's very unlikely.

"Rhea?" guess Nevan's on target.

Luna was silent. Not to justify and not to dispute anything. "Gue said you don't need to know who. I just hope you think about everything I said. For Haura. I beg you."

"Rhea. I'm sure that person is Rhea" said Nevan, who was very steady with his guess.

"When?" asked the teenage boy again with such an intimidating tone.

"Before the school's birthday. In the girls' locker room." Luna is forced to tell the truth because she cannot lie because of pressure from Nevan. Although not much to say, but the look in Nevan's eyes can make anyone's guts shrivel.

The light of Luna's words made Nevan tighten her jaw. Angrier. That's what Nevan feels.

Nevan is angry at Rhea who has dared to harm Haura. Also angry at himself because Haura was injured because of him. One more thing that made the handsome teenager angry was Haura who did not say honestly about the incident she had just learned from Luna.

"And I'm sure, the incident that befell Haura in the theater's excrement room also has something to do with Rhea. I don't want to accuse just anyone. But Adel and I believe only Rhea would dare to do that." Finally Luna said what was the burden on her mind and Adel. The two Haura's best friends are convinced that Rhea is the mastermind behind Haura's lockdown and the leg injury Haura sustained a few days ago has left their best friend in the hospital.

"Damn!" a swearing escaped Nevan's mouth. "Why don't I think to check the CCTV that's in the room." Nevan lamented his folly of not directly checking CCTV footage on the day Haura was locked. Panicking because Haura is injured makes Nevan go through important things that he must investigate to find out the cause of the incident that befell his best friend.

"Now you know ka, Van. All that befell Haura because of your attention to Haura that made Rhea

jealous. I know you're sincere to Haura, but your sincerity actually makes Haura wretched."

"Lo calm down, I can take care of Haura." After saying that, Nevan left the place.

"Lo can take care of Haura, but not forever. You're not always there for Haura." Phrase

Luna made Nevan pause her footsteps. Although he did not turn his head or answer Luna's words, Nevan heard well what Haura's friend said.

"Can you be sure you'll always be on Haura's side?"

Nevan is still in place and silenced.

"Gue was afraid that your concern for Haura would hurt Haura in other ways."

Without answering anything, Nevan immediately left Luna alone. The aim of the handsome teenager was the CCTV control room in their school. Looking for the mastermind behind the accident that Haura had experienced.

*******

"Haura, why didn't you tell me?" Nevan repeated her question because Haura did not open her voice. The handsome teenager held back his anger as much as possible considering Rhea's actions on the teenage girl sitting next to him. Trying to speak as softly as possible so that Haura would open up to him.

"About?" asked Haura pretending not to understand the direction of Nevan's question.

"Rhea."

Haura was silent. Weighing what he has to say to Nevan.

A few seconds passed. Haura was still at home with her silence. Outside the UKS there are no more students heard going back and forth. The next lesson hours have begun. There are only Haura and Nevan. The UKS officer on duty has gone somewhere. Before leaving the room, the UKS officer first told Haura his goal and asked the girl to rest comfortably. But because Haura's mind was in turmoil, she couldn't even listen to what the UKS officer had to say.

Meanwhile, the two friends of Haura have returned to their classes to take lessons. This of course happened because of Haura's own request. The teenage girl wants to be alone. Wanting to calm his chaotic mind due to the events just a moment ago.

Patiently Nevan waited for an answer from Haura. Now the two teenagers are both staring at the wall of UKS painted white clean. It was as if there was displayed a very beautiful painting that made both their eyes reluctant to turn in the other direction.

“What should I say?” asked Haura without looking towards her interlocutor. The girl was still looking straight. Staring at the wall of the room is more interesting than staring at Nevan's face.

"You know Van, make me the best way to solve a problem is to be quiet." Haura lowered her head

momentary. Staring at his feet. Smiling bitterly after.

"I chose silence because I was sure no one would listen to me" he continued

Haura again.

Nevan was still listening to every word Haura said. Staring at Haura inside. Dive into the burden of the mind that his friend is trying to hide from him.

"If anyone would listen to me now, I would still choose to remain silent. You know, keeping everything all right is harder than destroying something good."

Haura looked at Nevan who had been staring at her since. The girl's eyes began to condense. Puddles of tears began to appear on his black bead.

Nevan examined Haura's face. The girl beside him was really injured. Meanwhile Haura took a deep breath. It was as if it was scooping up all the oxygen in the room.

Without the two of them noticing, there had been a pair of ears hearing their conversation. The person was in the gurney next to the gurney that Haura occupied. The dividing curtain becomes a protector for him so that his existence is not realized by Haura and Nevan.

"What really happened to make you stay away from me?" muttered that person who was none other than Farel

"Now God has sent you for me. Still the same, I still choose to be quiet so that everything goes as it should. If I speak, I'm afraid I'll hurt a lot of people, I'm afraid I'll ruin something that's been well preserved for quite a long time."

"You mean?" ask Nevan at last.

"Rhea. He's not wrong. All because of love. You know Van that Rhea loves you. Seeing someone we love with someone else hurts. Even with a friend. Like us." There was a sense of tightness in Haura's chest when she said that she and Nevan were just friends.

"Everyone expresses the pain in a different way. And manner

rhea's choice is to hurt others."

"Still it's wrong" Nevan protested.

"Yes, I know it's wrong. But many people think anything is right when it comes to love. They

put forward the desire and set logic aside. That's what Rhea did."

Haura rubbed her watery eyes so as not to fall down on her cheeks. Afterwards smiled sweetly at the teenage boy who was sitting next to him.

"I beg you not to hurt Rhea. Although you can't repay Rhea's love, at least don't break it

your friendship is only because of me. It will make Rhea more hurt," said Haura sincerely. The girl knows what it's like if love isn't reciprocated. Sick and pathetic.

Haura thinks Rhea is better than herself for daring to confess her love to Nevan. Whereas

he was only able to hold on without daring to say it.

"But..."

"I beg you, Van." Haura immediately cut off Nevan's remark.

"And one more. We better not get too close as we are now. Let everything go as it should. It's time for us to be in our respective places."

"Each place? Mean you?" nevan asked confusedly hearing Haura's words.

"You're in your place. A place where I can't be there. And I'm at my place. A place that is not worth stopping at. You understand what Van means?"

"No... I'll go along with you to stay nice with Rhea, but I won't comply with requests to stay away from you." Nevan said firmly and rejected Haura's request.

"It's the best."

"Best for whom?" Nevan started to growl.

"For me, you, us and for everyone."

"We'll talk about this later. When you are calm. Now you rest." Nevan soon moved from his seat ready to leave the place.

"You may ask anything of me, but not with a request to stay away from you." Nevan is leaving soon

from there. The handsome teenager walked over without looking back even though Haura called her name.

Haura just stared at Nevan's departure. "If what I ask is your love, is it okay? I don't want you to stay away from me either, Van. But you better stay away now than later, when I'm really caught up in a deepening love for you. Because if you leave my life at that time, maybe I'll be more hurt than I am now."

Farel's auditory senses could clearly capture what Haura was saying. It was true as he expected if Haura loved Nevan in silence.

That day love seemed to be playing tricks on the hearts of the teenagers. Some people choose to love in a way that hurts. Some choose to love by protecting. Some love by asking love itself to leave. The greatest is that some do not yet realize that love has mastered the heart, want to protect but instead hurt.
