Childhood Friend

Sander's family welcomes Nevan's return to Indonesia. The young boy returned home to be picked up by his older sister, Zayn and accompanied by their Grandma, Lady Anna Sander.

A warm embrace from Mr. Liam was given to Nevan as a welcome for his youngest son's return to their home forever. The middle-aged man was unable to hide the hue of happiness on his face.

“Welcome home, boys. Sorry that Papa left you in Sydey all this time,” said Mr. Liam while hugging his youngest son tightly.

“It’s okay, Pa. Nevan understands,” Nevan replied as she returned her Papa's embrace.

“How are you, Ma?” now Mr. Liam's embrace turns to the twilight woman who still looks pretty. She is the mother of Mr. Liam, Lady Anna Sander.

“As you can see, Mama is still quite as energetic as thirty years ago. Even Mama can still if you ask to run a marathon.” The woman's sense of humor is still the same as when she was young.

Hearing Lady Anna's reply, the three of them laughed crisply. Their grandma is a true mood booster.

“Zayn, take your sister and grandma to the room,” pinta Tuan Liam to his eldest son, Zayn.

"Mama and you, Nevan, take a break. We'll talk later." said Mr. Liam.

“Okay, Pa.” Zayn called some ART to deliver Lady Anna to the room that had been provided. While he helps Nevan bring some of his belongings to Nevan's room located on the second floor.

While walking towards the stairs, Nevan captures the silhouette of a teenage girl walking towards the backyard in a school uniform. He could not see the face of the girl. But Nevan is pretty sure that the girl is someone she really wants to meet.

“Kak...,” Nevan calls Zayn who has climbed several steps.

“Iya... What's up, Van?” zayn asked astonished to see the direction of his sister's view looking towards the door to the back garden.

“So Nevan view...” Nevan paused for a moment what he was going to say.

“What do you see?” actually Zayn knew what was the center of his sister's attention a few seconds ago.

“Sister, Nevan saw nothing,” replied the teenager.

Meanwhile, Zayn raised the corner of his lips to see his sister's behavior, who seemed to be asking something but hesitated. Zayn understood enough about what Nevan was going to ask. But he would not say anything until his own brother asked.

Waiting for Nevan to ask was not a thing for a moment. Given Nevan's personality is quite arrogant and prestige, then Zayn prefers that the younger brother continues to be curious about someone he really wants to meet.

The weekend has arrived. As usual, Haura helped her mother complete the housework with several other house assistants. There is no weekend like other teenagers, lazing or spending time with friends his age to watch, walk in the mall or just hanging out in the cafes. That doesn't apply to Haura's weekend.

Although there are no special weekend events with friends, not one bit makes the teenage girl sad. Quite the contrary, Haura was happy because every weekend she could help ease her mother's work to the maximum.

Early in the morning Haura has been looking neat with long sleeves, jeans and who never miss her hair in the pigtails typical of a ponytail. That was how Haura looked everyday. The teenage girl is not

I have ever worn minimal clothing. He likes to look casual. So too with Miss Lastri. The woman who is in the middle of the head of four already looks neat. Just like his daughter.

The routine activity that is always done by Bu Lastri and Haura every weekend is shopping for daily food needs for the next week. As usual, every shopping they are always accompanied by the driver of the Sander family, Mang Jeje.

\=====

Bu Lastri looks cool to choose a variety of vegetables, meat, fruits and other kitchen ingredients. Haura faithfully followed her mother while occasionally asking about the food ingredients the mother had bought.

“Bu, why today we shop very much,” he asked in wonder. Because not as usual, today his mother bought twice as much food as usual.

“Iya son, today mom will cook a lot,” replied bu Lastri.

“Why is that, Bu?’ the question is growing in wonder.

“Kan yesterday the youngest son of Mr. Liam returned to Indonesia. Mr. Liam said his youngest son would stay here. Nevan, you remember him, right?”

Haura was silent for a moment hearing the question from her mother.

“Iya, Mom. Haura remember.” How could Haura not remember Nevan. This week he heard the name mentioned several times. Both at school and at home.

Since yesterday Haura had known that Nevan had arrived at their home. Therefore, since yesterday Haura also reduced her activities in the main house of the Sander family, so that she did not need to meet the man.

“It's impossible if you don't remember him. Nevan boy will often play with you when you are small,” added Bu Lastri.

Haura simply replied with a smile in response to her mother's statement.

“Sunday Mr. Liam said that Nevan would return to Indonesia. So to welcome his arrival, later tonight there will be a dinner with the Sander family,” explained Long Lastri at length to his daughter.

“Ooo...” is just the answer Haura gave to respond to her mother's explanation.

“Absolutely you are not curious about the face of son Nevan?”  asked Bu Lastri to his daughter who had just answered briefly when she asked to talk.

“Gak, Mom. Haura was not curious. He was a childhood friend. We are teenagers now. Not necessarily Nevan remembers the same Haura.” It would be a lie if Haura said that she was not at all curious about Nevan's figure after ten years they had not met. Because ever since he heard Nevan's name a few days ago, his heart really wanted to meet his childhood friend.

But the girl's logic was more domineering than what her heart said. Whatever he wants to see Nevan, but enough of it is kept tight in his heart. Even to just ask his mother, Haura did not. Know yourself enough. That was the word Haura convinced herself.

“If he remembers about you, you should be able to keep your distance from him huh, son. Since you know right, Ra, our status and they are different,” Bu Lastri said gently reminding her beloved daughter. While Haura was still fixated as if thinking of something complicated.

“Haura, why are you daydreaming, son?” ask Miss Lastri wonder why her daughter daydreams in this crowded place. I don't know what the girl was thinking.

“Ehh... kok Bu, Haura does not daydream,” replied haura with a stiff smile towards the mother.

“Yes already, our game choose the ingredients, fear of misfortune.”

“OK... Ma'am,” replied Haura while displaying her best smile. The food hunting process continues.

Various questions were present in Haura's mind. Does his friend still remember him? Can they still be friends like they were when they were kids? Or will his status as the son of a servant in the family create an invisible chasm between himself and Nevan that will create itself?

I don't know.
