Chapter 44

Melly did not expect her happiness would end so soon. After being alone in the room, Melly attempts to contact Tristan, but Tristan pays no heed to her.

How could Melly explain to Tristan if Tristan didn't want to talk to him at all?

Melly is determined, at school tomorrow, she must make Tristan want to listen. As for the matter with Ghevin, Melly will solve it tonight as well. So Melly waits until Ghevin gets home, and then she goes into Ghevin's room to see him.

"Ghev," call Melly. She was getting changed, and only glanced at Melly at a glance when Melly walked in. "Gue wants to talk to you."

"Gue doesn't want to be horrified by anything you say" Ghevin replied. "Hurry out."

"But, Ghev…"

"I said get out," cut Ghevin. "Lo budek ya."

"Ghev, please, just for a minute" Melly said.

But Ghevin really didn't want to listen to him. She pushed Melly out of her room, then slammed the door hard in front of Melly's face. Melly tried to open the door again, but it turned out she had locked it.

Melly returned to her room. If Ghevin was this difficult, what about Tristan? But he didn't want to give up before trying.

Tristan's long bench waiting for Melly was empty when Melly arrived at school the next day. Melly sends Rani to class first, while she walks into Tristan's class.

Tristan was sitting on a chair in the back row. Without heeding the curious gazes of her classmates, Melly walked up to her.

"Can we talk for a second?" ask Melly expectantly.

Tristan threw away his face. "No" he answered.

"Let me have five minutes" said Melly. "I won't stop bothering you until you hear my explanation."

Tristan. "Three minutes" he said at last.

Melly had to agree. It was better for Tristan to give him three minutes than nothing.

Tristan turned to look at Robbin who was sitting next to him. "Make the other kids out of here" he ordered.

Robbin immediately executed the order. In no time, the only ones left in the class were Melly and Tristan. He leaned against the bench while Melly remained standing uncomfortably.

"Come by the way" said Tristan.

Melly tried to put together the right words last night, but now it feels like they're all gone. He doesn't even know how to start.

"Why is he?" ask Tristan. "Said to talk."

Melly tried to clear her throat. "Mmm.. I want to explain my lies to you," began Melly finally.

"Terusin," said Tristan.

Tristan looked at Melly. "Oh, so that includes your lies too?"

Melly nodded. "Ghevin and Miko just wanted to protect me" Melly said.

"Of course they want to protect you" Tristan said. "Do you know what Ghevin did to Amanda?"

"I know," muttered Melly.

"So you know how much of a jerk your brother is" Tristan said. "I hate Ghevin because he's hurt Amanda."

"I don't blame you for hating Ghevin" Melly said. "That's your right, I can understand why."

"You can understand why, so you can understand why I can't forgive your lies, right?"

"But I was forced to lie," said Melly in self-defense. "When you know I'm Ghevin's sister, you will definitely use me to avenge her. So I'm trying desperately so you don't know, by claiming I'm Rani's house as my house and introducing Billy as my sister."

"And forever you won't tell me the truth?" ask Tristan.

"I'm planning on telling you one day" Melly said. "I just don't want to ruin our new relationship."

"It's about our relationship, Melly," Tristan explained. "I want you to assume it never existed."

Melly's heart ached when she heard it. "Tristana..."

"It was a mistake" Tristan said.

"Don't tell me it's a mistake" Melly said. "Our relationship might work. We can try first."

"But I don't want to try" Tristan said.

Melly was silent. She thought Tristan would forgive her, and for her love of Melly, Tristan would forget her dispute with Ghevin. That way, they can together convince Ghevin to agree

their relationship. But if Tristan doesn't even want to try, it'll all be for nothing. Melly couldn't work on their relationship alone.

"Is there anything else you want to talk about?" ask Tristan. "You don't exist, you better get out. Your three minutes are almost up."

Melly tried to stay strong, even though her tears felt like they wanted to come out.

"Our relationship cannot end like this. Can't do..."

"Tristan," said Melly, with a quivering voice holding back the cries. "When I lied to you, I didn't know I was going to fall in love with you."

Tristan did not respond to Melly. Slowly Melly walked out of her class. He hopes Tristan will call him and tell him to come back, but it turns out Tristan didn't do that.
