Chapter 40

Melly guesses the students at her school won't be too surprised to hear she's dating Tristan. Gossip about them has been circulating for a few days. Moreover, the students at his school had indeed often seen them together. Because of that Melly was not too worried when she arrived at school the next day.

Tristan as usual sat waiting for Melly on the long bench that was near the school gate. But the difference, this time Tristan's face was filled with a smile when approaching Melly. He clasped Melly's hand and began to walk her towards Melly's class.

It's not the first time Tristan has held Melly's hand, but it still feels different for Melly. His grasp felt so protective, not pushy as before. Melly grasped it back, in her heart hoping not to have to let go again.

"Ih, make it hard." Suddenly, Rani's voice came. Melly forgot she was walking behind them. "Gue go first. Males is just a mosquito repellent."

Melly smiled as she watched him move away. Rani must not be used to seeing him have a girlfriend. Melly moves on with Tristan, but this time Vionna confronts them.

At first Vionna just wanted to say hello to Tristan. But when he saw their hands together, he could not even make a sound and just stood up while gawking.

"Why...why did you hold her hand?" ask Vionna to Tristan.

"Why indeed?" Tristan asked back. "Hold right, if I hold my girlfriend's hand?"

Vionna's face was like a man choking on his pale meatballs. He let out a screech that was a blend of shock and disbelief. Before they passed from before him, Melly had time to harvest the oath of grace from him.

Indeed this is one of the risks of dating a popular guy. Melly is sure it's not just Vionna who doesn't like seeing her relationship with Tristan. Seeing the many fans of Tristan, if every swearing that comes out of their mouth makes money, Melly would have become a trillionaire.

But Melly has the full support of Tristan's gang members. They did not stop congratulating him while he was in the cafeteria. Because Melly is now their chairman's girlfriend, their attitude becomes very respectful to him, much different from when he was still their errand boy.

"Boss, are we going to be treated?" robbin asked, followed by the hopeful gazes of the rest of the gang.

"Sure dong!" tristan Sahut. "Buy what you want in this cafeteria, I'll pay. Not just you guys, but.." Tristan started to raise his voice, so that the whole cafeteria could hear, ".everyone in this canteen I'm treating!"

There was applause from the people in the cafeteria. Some of them even invoked the name of Tristan with full adoration.

"Kak Tristan is very royal," commented Rani. Then, with a meaningful glance at Melly, she added, "Not like her boyfriend, who just bought ice cream."

Melly hits Rani's arm. "Gue has bought you the same Billy pizza as well" he protested.

"Not to thank you!" malle Ogat. "Tomorrow I won't buy you anything else."

"Belgium!" sahut Rani's. "Gue can ask Tristan."

Melly was even more exciting to beat him, making Rani to stand up to avoid the blow. A few minutes before the break ended, the two of them took time to go to the toilet.

"Mell," called Rani suddenly, as the two of them were washing their hands in the sink. "I doubt it would go to Lo, but I'm really curious."

Melly looked at Rani through the mirror above the sink, waiting for her to continue her words.

"When will you hide this from Kak Ghevin and Kak Tristan?" ask Rani carefully. "After all, Kak Ghevin will know that you are dating Kak Tristan, and Kak Tristan will also know that lo is Kak Ghevin's sister."

Melly sighs. All this time he had been trying hard not to think about it, even though it was constantly lingering in his mind and making him unsettled.

"Gue knew I couldn't hide this forever from Ghevin and Tristan" Melly said. "But right now I don't want to think about it. I still want to enjoy my happiness with Tristan."

Rani nodded in understanding.

"Gue realized what happened to Amanda could happen to me at any time" continued Melly. "To be honest, it scares me."

"Lo was hoping it wouldn't happen" Rani said. "Maybe Kak Ghevin and Kak Tristan will forget the problems between them if it concerns your happiness."

It is almost impossible for Ghevin and Tristan to make peace. But if it was Melly's happiness, would they be that hard?
