Arc 2 Chapter 17: Disaster

Moments after the Chairman issued his signal, the other Patrol Guard members began to raid this Basecamp. The sound of bells ringed by the rebels to signify they were being attacked. Some rebels in front of us tried to leave this building.

“What do you think, I will let you help your friends!?” Without wasting any time, the Chief immediately shot towards those rebels.

The chairman was very rash.Maybe because he was very confident in his strength.

After defeating the rebels inside the building, we went out of the building.

Out here, the Patrol Guards are fighting the rebels. I then looked at Vice Chairman and Senior Hans who had just managed to incapacitate the four rebels. They realized our whereabouts and approached both of us.

“Rissa, how is our situation?” ask Chief Serena.

“Our attack succeeded smoothly, the rebels began to be cornered and began to retreat to the middle of this Basecamp. It won't be an hour until we defeat those rebels Chairman.”

While the Chairman was discussing the progress of this attack, I climbed to the top of the building to better understand the surrounding situation. True said the Vice Chairman, the Patrol Guard managed to repel the rebels which made them concentrated in the central part of Basecamp.

In the distance, I saw two people standing on top of the building. Suddenly, a red light flew into space and spread throughout Basecamp covering the ceiling of this area.

This is bad.it is a Red Birdcage artifact. I've had bad experiences with that artifact in the past.

I then descended back down to inform the Chairman. Others noticed this strange phenomenon as well.

“Chairman, those rebels activated an artifact that can lock us in here.” Hearing my words, the Chief then turned his gaze to me.

“What do you mean?”

Hearing the Chief's question, I then pointed to a bird that was flying above the sky. The bird then passed through the red light. But all that was left of him were bones.

“…!”

“…!”

The Chairman, Vice Chairman and Hans who saw him were then shocked.

“They activate this confinement when they are in a bad condition. This indicates they are planning something to turn things around,” I explained.

“Then, what was—“ Uncompleted Chairman Serena spoke, sounded an explosion from the direction of the central part of Basecamp.

I turned around and saw a huge puff of smoke rising.

We then heard a terrible scream from there. I rushed to the source of the smoke. The chairman and the others followed behind me. After approaching several tens of meters, I then saw dozens of humanoid creatures similar to insects.

“It was... Zerrigan,” mumbled. I then rushed to leave the three of them.

“Hey, Sirius! Where are you going! Heyyy!” I heard senior Hans yelling.

There was no time to explain it to them. If I don't move fast, then the entire Patrol Guard that's here will die.

After the new boy left, I, Hans and Rissa faced dozens of these strange creatures. They have a very fast movement and are able to stick to the walls of buildings.

Two of the creatures jumped at me. I then lowered my head and tried to counterattack the two creatures before they landed.

My attack only cuts through the air. The two creatures dodged my attack by twisting their bodies.

They started running back towards me. This time, I gathered mana and channeled it to my sword. Dodging their attacks by jumping backwards, I then took out my magic sword technique.

“Flying Sword: Wind Strike!” Shaking my sword at them, my attack shot out then cut the bodies of the two creatures into two pieces.

Green blood was pouring out of their bodies. I then saw the situation around me. My members began to be overwhelmed against these creatures, even I saw that there were already casualties.

Not wasting a long time, I then rushed to help my members who were in trouble. In front of me, one of the creatures was gnawing at the stomach of my sprawling members.

The creature's head fell down, green-colored blood splashed onto the ground.

“Ke-chairman.. Tu-my body feels cold...,” he said.

“Don't say much! We'll definitely get out of here!” When I said that to her, I saw one of the creatures pointing her hand towards the two of us. The creature then fired some kind of strange liquid.

I then rushed to grab my sprawled member and dodged the creature's attack. Looking at where I was standing earlier, it was seen that the ground that was exposed to liquid from the creature was emitting a smoke like a blister.

Acid liquid, huh? I need to be more careful of their long-range attacks!

“I'll destroy all of you!” I darted towards the crowd of creatures.

Cut, cut, puncture. One by one I killed those disgusting creatures. However, their numbers did not seem to decrease at all. What the hell's going on? Did they get help? Do they have a Summoner? In that case, I should find that Summoner and kill him!

Groarr!!

I turned my back on hearing a terrible monster roar.

“Tolonggg! That monster is too strong!”

“Save us!”

I saw a huge humanoid monster like a wolf with a height of 4 meters. The monster carried a huge mace that he swung to slaughter my subordinates.

I set my foot and then shot towards the Monster. The gazes we met, I gathered mana in both my hands preparing to carry out the attack.

Jumping towards the monster, I slashed my sword vertically. The monster swung its rock at me.

Moving backwards to keep my distance from the monster, I then re-centered the mana in both my hands and drained it into my sword.

This fire then spread towards my sword over it. In front of me, the Monster started running towards me fiercely.

“In The Name of Habsburg Legacy! Justice Will Prevail!” The monster was already in front of me about to swing its cudgel towards me.

“Dragon Fire Damnation!!” I slashed my sword towards the monster.

A Fire Dragon Wave then devoured the monster which made it pushed back. The fire I produced was so hot that it could burn the surrounding area within 10 meters of my attack.

A puff of smoke was visible 30 meters from where I was. The monster received a crushing attack from my magic.

But when the smoke starts to disappear. The monster's figure is still seen standing strong even though his body looks charred burning fire.

I saw the black face of the monster grinning at me. Without Recovery, the Monster started running back towards me to attack me with its big mace.

A few minutes passed after I parted ways with Chief Serena. I am now in pursuit of a rebel who activated his artifact to lock up this Basecamp area.

I have to get it fast, if it is delayed any longer, the casualties from the Patrol guard will continue to grow.

However, doing so was not as easy as imagined. Around me, some rebels are trying to stop me from chasing the man who brought the artifact.

“Dead you damn it!” A rebel shot towards me from the front using their unique tool trying to attack me with his sword.

I set my foot and then jumped towards the rebel who was about to attack me. He looked surprised but still launched his sabetage.

I tilted my body to dodge then made a circular motion to gain a momentum attack then kicked the rebel chest making it bounce into a building.

I won't get the man who brought the artifact if I'm too preoccupied with the rebels protecting it.

Realizing that, I then ran into a building and activated Featherstep to try to remove my tracks from their surveillance. I then saw the rebels following me into the building. However, they did not find my existence at all.

For a few minutes chasing after the man, I had understood his escape route all along. I then waited in a building in the east corner of this basecamp. Soon, he would definitely pass this route.

There he is. The man headed towards me accompanied by two rebels on either side. I set my foot and then jumped towards the man who was carrying the artifact. The three of them were surprised to see me who suddenly appeared before them.

I kicked the face of the man carrying the artifact making it bounce off a building.

I landed on the ground then turned around, the two fellow men then performed a reverse maneuver and then shot towards me. Taking out their dual swords, the two of them prepared to slash at me with their attacks utilizing the momentum of the speed of the tools they were using.

I lowered my head to avoid the attack and then turned to catch one of the legs of the rebel and slammed it into the ground.

Seeing one of his comrades fall, the rebel again maneuvered back and then shot back towards me.

“Don't mind him! Our job is to buy time!” The rebels stopped hearing a scream. When I turned around, it turned out that the man carrying the artifact had recovered from my kick earlier.

He then returned to fly using his tool was followed by one of the rebels earlier. Seeing the two of them trying to escape, I then ran as fast as I could and jumped onto the roof of the building.

Running and skipping over buildings to other buildings, I can get ahead of them. Taking Baselard out of the scabbard, I jumped to slash at the wires they used to maneuver. The rebels then hit the ground and were unconscious.

The rest, there was only the person holding the artifact.

I ran back and jumped between the buildings chasing him. Our distance was getting closer and now I was right next to him.

He glanced at me then readied a sword in his right hand. I jumped towards him to launch an attack.

Realizing something was wrong, I turned to the right. It was seen someone flying towards us using wires. He then slashed his sword at me.

Our swords clashed, I resisted his attack using Baselard. However, due to the momentum of the man's speed, I bounced onto a building made of wood.

"Leon! Thank you, you saved me! That Guard patrol is completely insane!"

"Fran, we fight him together. Continuing to run will only make us more vulnerable. We beat him here!" I heard faintly their conversation.

I lowered my head and then turned to catch his hand and slammed it hard on the floor.

I kicked his ribs hard making him bounce out through the wooden walls of the building.

I chased them out and found them both bleeding from their mouths.

"Give up, you two can't beat me."

Hearing my words, the Double-sword man spat out the blood present in his mouth onto the ground. "We Wings of Freedom will fight to the death!"

After saying that, he ran back to me. This time, his attacks looked slower.

"Ughhhhh!" I kicked him back hard making him bounce far away.

However, his partner who was behind him opened his jacket. His body was circled by some kind of explosive device— Dynamite. He then lit up the dynamite axis.

"Oahhhh! I'll die with you!" he shouted while jumping towards me.

- Slash!

"...!" His face looks surprised.

I slashed the flame axis preventing it from reaching the dynamite installed on his body.

The man held onto his stomach which was starting to get wet with his own blood. "That's impossible... "

"Frann! Hmh!" The man tried to get up.

I took the artifact out of the rebel's pocket and kicked it, which caused it to bounce off his partner who was still struggling to get up.

"Fran! Frans! Answer me!"

Regardless of the two rebels, I then deactivated the artifact that kept this place locked up like a birdcage.

The red lights that restricted this region began to re-enter the artifact I was holding.

- Crack

The artifact shattered into pieces after use.

With this, the Guard Patrols could begin to retreat escaping from those monsters.
