Arc 2 Chapter 15: Leon

Helzein Town, Duchy Salisburg.

On the outskirts of the city, there are children playing in a newly built fountain to meet the clean water needs of the residents around the area.

The majority of the population around this area are poor people who do not have the ability to pay taxes to the government. Therefore, the area around here looks very slum and not taken care of because the government is more concerned with the residents who pay taxes.

Not far from the group of children, two men were watching them. The two men smilingly looked at the children in front of them as they were happily playing around the fountain that could be awakened due to the result of their struggle.

The two of them walked over to the children.

“Ah! Brother Leon! Brother Fran! You guys are back apparently!” One of the children realized their presence. The boys then rushed over to Leon and Fran.

“Alexius and others, do you like the Fountain? Now you no longer need to worry about thirst not having something good to drink,” Leon said as he stroked Alexius' head.

“Ummm, thank you, Brother Leon! The water is fresh and looks clean! Better than taking a shower at the city water disposal!” Hearing Alexius' words, Leon's expression turned grim at the thought of their difficult times.

From childhood, Leon lived with other children in an orphanage not far from here.

Since Leon founded Wings of Freedom, Leon has helped improve the quality of life for people living around the area. Leon gets the money for all of it from the sales of goods or slaves he gets from his transactions with the black market.

“Sister Leon, how long this time brother will stay?” ask Aelxius.

Leon never told the kids the job he's been doing all this time. He simply told them he was helping those in distress and doing other noble work.

“By the way Alexius, I didn't see Mileus. I know he doesn't have a good body condition, but at least he also has to watch this new Fountain and participate in having fun with the other kids.”

It's been a month since Leon's last been here visiting orphanage children. Leon does not know about the news from the children because he is busy taking care of the Wings of Freedom Organization as their Captain.

Hearing the words of Leon, Alexius and the other children suddenly shut up which made Leon have a bad feeling.

Alexios then takes Leon to a place outside the city.

In front of Leon, there was now a tombstone. Who lived there was a child who Leon had considered as his own younger brother—Mileus.

For Leon, one of the reasons he founded Wings of Freedom was because of the boy. Leon still remembered his last conversation with Mileus when he was holding the boy for a walk in the City.

‘Mileus, do you have an ideal?’

‘Iya! I want to be a hero! Become brave then defeat a dragon and save a Princess!’

‘Heh... You heard too many boring stories.’

‘It's okay isn't it? Heroes are great people! Wherever he goes, he always brings happiness to people in distress like me!’

Tears began to pour down Leon's cheeks recalling his last memories with the dead boy.

“Alexius, haven't I given you a lot of money last time I was here? Why don't you take Mileus to a healer when his condition is deteriorating? With the money I gave you, it should have been enough to take him and give first aid.” Hearing Leon's question, Alexios hesitated to answer it.

“Sister Leon, since the elder brother left, the parlors have become quite popular because we provide the necessities of life to the abandoned children in the city. The more children who have to take care of their adequacy, the more money they have to spend. I've taken Mileus to a healer, but..” Alexius' expression looked regretful when recalling those moments. “Chealers in the city do not want to care for Mileus because we do not have enough money to pay for his treatment.”

Hearing the story of Alexios, Leon realized, it is impossible only Mileus who experienced such a bad thing. Leon closed his eyes and recalled Mileus' last words.

‘Sister Leon, you are a hero to me. Brother Leon has given me happiness in my life that is always sickly..I hope, Brother can also be a hero for people who are in distress in life like me.’.

Opening his eyes again as if rounding his resolve, Leon then turned to walk over to Fran.

“We will do the operation tonight,” whispered.

'Milaeus... I will live out your hope at all costs... '

“Dad! I succeeded! I succeeded!” Suddenly, a girl approached him and hugged him.

“What's Fio doing, baby? What makes you so excited?” The man then saw his son smiling.

“I can already use the magic I learned in Magic school! The Master also praised me and said if I have good potential to become a Palace Witch!”

Hearing his son's words, the man then smiled and stroked his son's hair. “Good work, Fio. Daddy's son is great. I will always support you to realize your dream, My Son.”

“Ummm, thank you, Dad. Fio, dear Daddy!”

The man always worked hard as a healer raising money to finance his daughter's education.

With the talent that his daughter possessed, the Man was certain, His daughter would become a great Witch in the future.

Suddenly, the man heard the sound of the door breaking. He immediately checked the front of his house to find out what was really going on.

He then saw two men wearing masks entering his door.

“Who are you!? What kali—“ Not finished he spoke, one of his home intruders punched him in the face which made him fall to the floor.

“Fran, grab his son.” The middle-aged man's expression changed when he heard the words of the intruders.

“No! Please! Don't hurt my son! He never did anything bad!” His voice sounded desperate.

“Your daughter is not, but you have done something,” said the intruder coldly. “From now on, you will treat poor people who cannot pay for your medical expenses as well.”

“Dad! Helpme! Get me off these criminals!” Hearing the cry of his son, the man then immediately kowtowed before the intruder.

“Please Sir! He is my only son! Please don't hurt him!”

“I will take your child with us, one of us will tell you the location of your child for you to visit once a week. But, if I get a report you don't receive patients from people who don't have.” The intruder then sticks a sword to his son's neck.

“Alright! All righty! I will obey all your requests! Please don't hurt my son—Fio!”

A few days later, Leon returned to the main headquarters of the Wings of Freedom Organization. He was now hearing reports from his subordinates regarding the condition of the Organization during his departure for several days.

“Yesterday, there are several Guard Patrols seen spying where we will receive weapons from the Republicans. Captain, what should we do? They will definitely be raiding the place tomorrow.” His subordinate asked what steps to take to Leon.

“Don't worry, just let them come. I have a plan to exterminate them. The more they send their members there, the better. We will destroy those Guard Patrols in this Operation.” Leon said it coldly.

“Tomorrow, those Guard Patrols will regret for always blocking our destination.” Fran then placed two objects on the table where they negotiated.

Those were the two Artifacts bestowed from the Republican spies they had previously encountered to destroy the Guard Patrols.

Sorry for the old update hehe because I was again busy with the same graduation preparation. In the next Chapter-Chaoter there will be an interesting fight between the Patrol Guard and the rebel forces.

Hopefully the action scene will later make you who read entertained XD
