The Assassin and The Blind Saint

The Assassin and The Blind Saint
Arc 2 Chapter 16: The Trap

Several days have passed since the attempted assassination of Mr. Radolf. After the incident, the public continued to criticize the Guard Patrol for the killing of Mr. Radolf's entire family. However, they hated the rebels who were the masterminds of it all.

To Mr. Radolf himself, I still haven't met him. To be honest, I still want to avoid it.

Investigations have been conducted into how the rebels disguised themselves as Patrol Guards guarding the theater. I heard from Senior Hans, inside the Guard Patrol Organization there is a traitor who sabotaged them. But it is still under investigation.

There are always enemy spies who will always be able to successfully infiltrate your organization as tightly as you try to prevent it.

As happened to Ouroboros, an actual member of the enemy spies told him everything about Ouroboros' headquarters that made Ouroboros indestructible with just one night.

Entering the headquarters, I then headed straight to the Hall to do a Briefing. There were dozens of members present.

Why are we gathered here? That's because the Chairman is rumored to have received information about the place where the rebels would receive weapons from Republican spies.

After waiting for a few minutes, Chairman Serena then entered the room in the damping by Vice Chairman Clarissa.

“Consideration! The Chairman will inform about our operation for today,” Vice Chairman's instruction.

The members then stopped chatting then turned their eyes to Chairman Serena.

“I have had a meeting with the investigative team that a few days ago I was assigned to find a location where the rebels would get weapons from the Republican spy.” Chief Serena then took out a paper in her breast pocket. “The location is near a canyon in the Southwest direction of Archduchy which borders the Kingdom of Lorraine. There was a Basecamp of rebels who formed like a small town. It is estimated that their strength amounts to 200 people.”

Two hundred men, huh? Could it be that the entire rebel army was in Arcduchy Astria? If we can catch them all, then the stability of security at Archduchy Astria will be guaranteed. Other criminals will also fear the power of the Guard Patrol, which is able to defeat the largest Criminal Organization in Archduchy.

“We will bring 200 Field Members with the help of 20 witches to raid their Basecamp. The plan is, two of us will infiltrate there to create chaos to divert their defenses so you can all enter their Basecamp. Any questions?” Chief Serena had finished reading the instructions for the Operation this time and looked at the members before her.

Our eyes then looked at each other. It was because Chief Serena saw me who was raising my hand.

“Yes, you. What's your question?” As usual, he was as cold as before.

“Who are the two people who will be the feed diversion in their Basecamp?” Hearing my question, the Chief only replied to him with a grin.

A few hours later, I was walking with a woman beside me. This woman was wearing a tattered robe, bloodstains visible from the woman's face.

Yes, she is the Chief Serena. We were both disguising ourselves as slave sellers with slaves to enter the Basecamp of the rebels.

If we had made it in, we would have caused as much chaos as possible and then signal to the other members who had prepared. After that, the members would make a full assault towards their Basecamp.

“Hey, are you capable of an intrusion into enemy bases? I got a report from Clarissa, you're pretty good at fighting. I will rate it for this time directly.” Hearing her words, I frowned.

I once infiltrated the Imperial Secret Library Room, which was notoriously impenetrable to guard, you know.

“Move the same as you were directed when Briefing, understand?” Chief Serena took off her robe when she said that to me. In addition to blood, there was also dirt dust stuck on his face to disguise his appearance as best as possible.

I just nodded to respond to her words.

We then arrived in front of Basecamp the rebels. It is located right next to a waterfall. I don't understand why they should bother building a Basecamp in a place like this.

“We have arrived, be as natural as possible,” whispered the Chairman to me.

We approached a man who looked like the main gatekeeper of Basecamp made of a 5-meter-tall wood.

“Who are you and what is your business here?” Hearing the guard's question, I then held the Chief's head and then revealed his face filled with dust and blood to them.

“Aghhh!” the Chief's screams were shocked by my actions.

“White, smooth, fresh. If cleaned this woman will definitely shine and have a high price at auction.” Hearing my words, I saw the Chief's eyes glaring at me horribly.

Hey, isn't this your own command to behave naturally?

The guards then looked at the Chairman's face closer. “Hmmm. Is he a Nation—What the hell is this?“ When the guard was about to touch the Chairman's face, I immediately held his hand.

“You can only treat him as you like if you've bought him from me. If not, don't even once you have the thought of touching my stuff!” I said that while looking intimidatingly at them.

We then walked into this Basecamp. That's right, this place is big enough to be as big as the City of Ilmenoy that I and Lena visited the other day. In addition to the guards, there are many people who work in various buildings in this place.

“Can you take your hand off me?” Suddenly I heard a very cold voice from the side.

Unknowingly, I still held the Chief's hand even though it had made it past the guards.

"Sorry," I said briefly as I released my hand in the Chairman's hand.

"Forget it, we do it like a plan. We're gonna free the slaves that are in custody and then mess up in this place to give other members a loophole so they can enter this place easily, understand?" I just nodded in response to the Chairman's instructions.

We then entered the tallest building around this place. In front of us were some cages filled by humans and Demi-humans.

"Can I help you, sir?" A man wearing a strange hat approached us.

"Come here, I have a good slave for you." Hearing my words, the man then walked closer towards us. He then began to look at the Chairman's face.

"Hm... This face of yours, it seems I've seen you... Uhh! You are the Black Mam—." Before he could finish his words, the Chief thrust his sword into the Man's throat.

"...!"

"...!"

As usual, the Chairman was very devoid of mercy. Seeing the Chairman's action, the guards of this building began to pull their swords from the scabbard.

"You're all going to die here!" After shouting his words, the Chief immediately shot towards those guards.

On the other hand, two guards started running towards me. They took out their swords in turn. I could easily dodge it and counterattack punching both of them in the chin which made them instantly unconscious.

Turning around to check the Chairman's condition, I saw him easily subvert 8 people at once using his magic sword technique.

"That's intruder! Catch them both!" I saw dozens of guards starting to enter this building.

"Chairman! I think we've caught their attention enough!"

Hearing my words, the Chief then raised his hand into the air. A spark started to appear on his wrist.

"Agni Flare!" A huge fireball flew into space through the ceiling of the building.

The chief has two magic elements, right?

"We'll hold them off until help arrives!" Saying the order, the Chief removed his robe then darted towards the dozens of guards in front of us.

Slashing his enemies at lightning speed with such a cold expression, I finally knew why the Chief was dubbed as The Black Mamba.

Not long after Serena released the fire magic signal into the air, the Guard Patrols began to storm the rebel Basecamp from all directions.

Leon and Fran were observing around on the roof of a building.

"Leon, the entire Guard Patrol that was previously hiding had entered Basecamp. They have fallen into our trap. We do it now?" fran asked while holding an artifact in his hand.

"Alright Fran. Remember, your job is to keep the artifact as much as possible until the Guard Patrols that are here we finish them all."

Fran simply nodded in response to Leon's instructions. He then activated the artifact and a red light appeared from the object he was holding.

The light then shot towards the sky and began to spread to all corners of Basecamp covering the area like a bird cage.

"They will now not be able to get out of this area. There's one more... " Leon took out a scroll and dripped his blood onto the scroll.

He then threw the scroll into the air then it exploded giving off a thick puff of smoke.

Two shadows of a mysterious creature are seen from inside the puff of smoke caused by the explosion of the scroll that Leon threw earlier.
