Chapter 9: Never warm my bed
In the room of the Bride, the servants had arranged everything according to the instructions of Court Lady Xu. An-Ying Lili had removed her veil despite Lady Xu's court stressing her against doing so.
"When he comes, I will wear it, Lady Xu," Ying Lili said humbly. Su Binxi had a bamboo basket in her hand where rose petals could be seen. "Why are you picking so many roses, Binxi? They are in vain" Ying Lili said.
"Your Majesty, this rose petal is a symbol of love. The bridal room was filled with the scent of roses and the imperial crown prince would love it," Su Binxi confirmed with a smile and she started spreading rose petals on the table.
Court Mistress Xu instructed another maid to help Su Binxi and then turned to Ying Lili. "Miss, today is your first night with the crown prince. Your mother may still tell you about this, as the second head of the imperial Palace, I must tell you some important things," Madam Xu said.
Ying Lili grew increasingly upset to hear that she had to spend the night with the person she hated the most there. But he was also happy that he had decided to kill him that night alone.
"Miss, it'll be painful at first but..." Madam Xu was stopped by An-Ying Lili who was already upset by all this. Court Lady Xu apologized to the crown princess.
"The Crown Prince took more than his usual time," Su Binxi said to comfort the crown princess' mood, unbeknownst to the crown princess distracted by the Crown Prince.
A servant came running inside. Subjugating his head he said, "The crown prince is here." Su Binxi wore a red veil over the crown princess's head and told her not to be nervous.
Both Su Binxi and Court Lady Xu stood a few meters away from the large-sized bed with their heads bowed.
The moment the Crown Prince stepped into Zhenzhu's inn and all the servants bowed before him. Sheng Li entered the bridal chamber and looked at Court Lady Xu. "No one should be outside anymore you all will face my wrath in the morning." Sheng Li's tone was very loud.
"Yes, Your Highness," Court Mistress Xu replied as she lowered her head.
"You all must leave now," Sheng Li ordered.
"Yes, Your Majesty. Wedding tea is served. Please take it and complete the final rite of your marriage," Court Lady Xu humbly told the crown prince.
"I understand," Sheng Li replied as all the maids, Madam Xu and Su Binxi left from there. Sheng Li looked at An-Ying Lili and clenched his hands tightly behind her back. The candlelight illuminated the bridal room, so he blew it first.
Ying Lili placed her hand near the belt where she hid the dagger. He had decided that if Sheng Li would try to get closer to him, he would not let him even if he had to die.
When all the candles were blown, Sheng Li stepped towards the bed where An-Ying Lili was sitting. "Why are you doing this?" Sheng Li growled as An-Ying Lili removed the veil from her head and said, "I didn't take any action," Ying Lili snapped at Sheng Li, glaring at him. He found his eyes red as if he was drinking a lot.
Both of Ying Lili's hands were in her hands, trying to take her off her cheeks, but her efforts were blunt in front of the crown prince.
"No one dared to talk to me like the crown princess did. You forget that there is no gender for me. I consider men and women the same. I don't even hesitate to kill you, but it's my father's gift to you that you're still alive," saying this Sheng Li pushed him backwards and Ying Lili's back hit the soft, padded mattress.
Sheng Lili straightened up and turned to look at the teacup where the wedding drink had already been poured. He went to the table and angrily turned it over. The porcelain tea cup fell and broke. Ying Lili stood up to go to another room in the Inn because she knew if she stayed there any longer then the crown prince would hurt her.
The crown princess stepped forward to escape when the crown prince grabbed her arm and then the next second she was pulled by it. Ying Lili acted quickly in that situation and took out a hidden dagger from her belt.
Directing a sharp dagger towards the crown prince, Ying Lili spoke, "You will die." His eyes were upset as he recalled how his uncle told him that day that in order to save himself and the people there from the crown prince's wrath, he had to lie that he killed Song Wai. "You made a mistake by bringing me here, Sheng Li," Ying Lili uttered and it hit Sheng Li's chest.
Sheng Li did not expect this from Ying Lili, and a laugh came out of his mouth. With his moist and crisp voice, the crown prince said, "You'll know that such a small knife won't be enough to kill me."
"You're overconfident, Sheng Li," Ying Lili confirmed with a sharp gaze and thrust it over Sheng Li's skin.
"I'm happy to play with you, Crown Princess," Sheng Li said as he grabbed onto Ying Lili's hand. "I hope you can use this opportunity in a better way," Ying Lili heard Sheng Li who had taken out a dagger from her skin.
Blood drops fell to the floor when Ying Lili saw the dagger half covered in blood. He again tried to hurt the crown prince but this time he grabbed his wrist and quickly pushed him onto the bed, throwing a dagger somewhere in the room.
Ying Lili struggled as Sheng Li pressed both hands on both sides of her shoulders. "You've lost your chance to kill me. I was too easy on you, but, now I think I should not spoil this beauty," Sheng Li said as he floated above the crown princess who was struggling to escape from the clutches of the king. crown Prince.
"I heard you are the kindest woman in the entire Han Kingdom, but it seems to be the opposite of me. You want me dead!!" Sheng Li astonishedly said, keeping his distant gaze intact on the woman in his bed.
"A ruthless person doesn't deserve anyone's kindness," Ying Lili uttered sternly.
Sheng Li laughed. "You mean the good guy lives a happy life? The best are people who suffer pain. Are you ready to endure the pain with this cruel man?" Sheng Li asked, slightly tilting his head, and a grin formed on his lips.
A drop of blood fell on Ying Lili's wedding dress as she furrowed her brows. He felt something different in the crown prince's eyes as if he was severely injured internally.
Leaning closer to Ying Lili's ears, Sheng Li whispered, "Never expect love from this evil and cruel man. Feed this in your mind - 'You will never warm my bed.' Remember this unforgettable wedding night, dear Crown Princess."
