Chapter 28: Losing your mind

Ying Lili sneered with a peek at Sheng Li. "I don't want to commit a sin by killing an innocent person," Ying Lili snapped to Sheng Li who gave her a sneer. “The person you are going to kill is not an innocent person. That person was someone.” The Crown Prince fell silent and approached Ying Lili. "That person is someone who really admires you" Sheng Li whispered. Ying Lili curiously looked at Sheng Li.

"Why did you even punish Su Binxi? She was a young girl who had already suffered greatly," Ying Lili said.

"I'm not talking about that little waitress. He was already killed by me," Sheng Li uttered and waited for Ying Lili's angry reply to him.

"How dare you kill him?" Ying Lili asked Sheng Li and raised her hand to slap him when Sheng Li caught her hand. "Don't try, Lili," Sheng Li said as he tightened his grip on his wrist. Ying Lili flinched but she did not let it be seen on her face.

"You didn't tell me that you also have a lover," Sheng Li spoke loudly. "I thought you were an innocent and kind woman, but it wasn't, '" Sheng Li confirmed. Ying Lili clutched her dress as Sheng Li let go of her hand and then grabbed her chin. Lei Wanxi was puzzled at the sudden change in Sheng Li's expression.

"She followed her lover to Han Palace and now she is in prison. Since you lost this match, you should kill him with your hands," Sheng Li said with a stern expression. Ying Lili's eyes fluttered and she spoke, "I have no lover," Ying Lili declared proudly. Sheng Li sneered and released his grip from the crown princess's chin.

"Let's go to the basement and verify there," Sheng Li said and grabbed onto Ying Lili's arm.

"Why is the crown prince angry?" Weng Yu asked in his innocent voice and looked at Lei Wanxi who was also confused by the behavior of the crown prince. "Let's go, Prince Yu," Lei Wanxi said and took Weng Yu away from there. General Xiao went towards the crown prince. Stopping a meter from the crown prince, General Xiao said, "Your Majesty, the time of the trial is near." Sheng Li then dragged Ying Lili with him into the basement.

Ying Lili was struggling and told him to let go but, Sheng Li did not listen to her. The moment they entered the basement where the fire torches hung at a distance of several meters from each other. The soldiers guarding there, bowing their heads saw the crown prince, crown princess, and General Xiao there.

They were now in front of the gate of the underground prison where Sheng Li had captured that person. He released Ying Lili's arm which held onto her arm and caressed her. He turned around to leave. "Try getting out of here and you'll be severely punished by me." Sheng Li threatened Ying Lili who was not listening which made Sheng Li growled. He turned around and grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him. General Xiao immediately lowered his eyes.

Sheng Li glared into Ying Lili's pearl eyes. Her hand was in the hands of Ying Lili and the others on her neck. Interestingly closer, the crown prince said, "Every time your stubbornness can't stop me." The crown princess could not understand the sudden change in her behavior. He was then pushed by Sheng Li so he crashed into a nearby wall.

"Bring him inside," Sheng Li ordered General Xiao who nodded at the order. "Your Majesty, please pass by here," General Xiao said politely. Ying Lili realized that there was no way she could escape from this, so, she decided to enter the dungeon. As he stepped in, he saw a man covered in blood, and his hands were tied with shackles, as well as his feet. He approached and stopped right behind Sheng Li.

Ying Lili saw how brutally the man was tortured. His wounds opened from everywhere his gaze fell on the man. Tears formed in his eyes as his eyes recognized the face seen in the dim yellow light of the fire torch.

Ying Lili turned to Sheng Li with tears on her cheeks. "Why did you do that?" The crown princess shouted at the crown prince. "Detach him immediately," Ying Lili ordered, looking down at General Xiao.

"What are you trying to do? Commanding my general only because you are the crown princess," the crown prince said angrily as he climbed three steps to reach the platform where Ying Lili stood. "Why are you lying that you don't have a boyfriend?" Sheng Li questioned Ying Lili. "How dare you try to take down my position by having an affair with him?" Sheng Li questioned Ying Lili.

"Sheng Li, you've lost your mind. She is my childhood friend, Hu Jingguo," Ying Lili announced and looked at the chain that bound Hu Jingguo. "Take him off right now. Otherwise, I will go to see His Majesty," Ying Lili threatened.

"Go away. I want to see how you're gonna protect your lover?" Sheng Li stated as he received a slap on his right cheek. Sheng Li relaxed his emotions and grabbed onto Ying Lili's neck. "L-leave him," Hu Jingguo said in a loud enough voice, gathering all his strength. "Xiao, bring his sword," Sheng Li ordered in an angry tone.
